dubq Posted July 20, 2006 Report Posted July 20, 2006 I so forgot about the way "Wild Cards" ended. I like how they had Hawkgirl and GL kiss for the first time and the long fade out. Then out of the blue the old woman that was playing the slots the whole episode all of a sudden hits the jackpot. I was surprised that the censors didn't edit the ending of the episode with what that emplied. An implication way too vague for most young kids to pick up on. It looks like JL has that animated movie appeal in that there are implications that only the adults would get, while the kids enjoy the more direct humor that dominates the films. Hawkgirl: That's fast. The Flash: Yeah, fastest man alive. Hawkgirl: Which might explain why you can't get a date. The Flash: Hey, what's that supposed to mean?! Flash always has great scenes. Like the one where he tries to get Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman to sit down to dinner and talk after HG's betrayal. They both take off in a huff and everyone's looking at Flash in the cafeteria. Flash: Yeah, that's right. I had dinner with TWO women. I'm a stud. *promptly puts his hand in his mashed potatos*
CBright7831 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 God I love Epilogue. What a great way to end Batman Beyond.
Vampiro69 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I rewatched Apokolips...Now! and man does that ending come out of no where. I think the ending of that episode is one of the top endings Timm and Co. ever did, and that includes the end of Starcrossed.
CBright7831 Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I bought all three volumes of Superman: TAS while I was on vacation. Not being the biggest Superman fan, I was weary of doing so, but since I liked JL: Season 2 so much, I bought Volume Three first. I loved it so much I went back a few days later and bought one and two. The DCAU carnation of Superman is my favorite one.
LessonInMachismo Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 "The Savage Time" was fantastic. Bobby Ewing's voice! So, what's the story behind them using the lighting strike symbol instead of the swastika?
AndrewTS Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 October 24th -- Justice League Unlimited Season 1 DVD box set comes out. Also Batman Beyond Season 2.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted October 23, 2006 Author Report Posted October 23, 2006 October 24th -- Justice League Unlimited Season 1 DVD box set comes out. Also Batman Beyond Season 2. Just to clarify: The JLU set is technically seasons 1 and 2, containing the 13 episodes from both season.
CBright7831 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 I bought JLU a few days ago, and I have to say that the Cadmus storyline is now one of my favorite stories of the DCAU. I also wasn't expecting Braniac to make a surprise appearance toward the end of the arc. Favorite episodes: The Doomsday Sanction Clash Question Authority Flashpoint Panic in the Sky Divided We Fall Epilogue What are some other good episodes on Volume One?

It's my favorite of the whole DCAU! Other good episodes? For the Man Who Has Everything The Greatest Story Never Told The Return Dark Heart Task Force X Clash
CBright7831 Posted November 2, 2006 Report Posted November 2, 2006 Other good episodes? For the Man Who Has Everything I watched this episode shortly after making that post and it made me realize that it was the closest Timm and company have got to showing Joe Chill's murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. And Cadmus will probably become my favorite DCAU storyline after I watch it a few more times.
Vampiro69 Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 I just watched "For the Man who has everything" and that is easily one of my favorite episodes that Timm and Co. ever made. Three scenes made the epsidoe for me 1. Superman telling Mongul to burn is so dark and chilling 2. Batman saying that what ever dream the black mercy was giving Mongul was to good for him. 3. Superman telling his son that none of this is real. bonus time was seeing the origin of Batman in the alley that fateful night.

Apokolips Now! part 1&2 The end of the episode is still shocking 4. Legacy part 1&2 Justice League 1. Star Crossed 2. The Savage Time 1,2,and 3 3. In Blackest Night 4. A Better World 5. Flash and Substance (finally an animated Captain Cold!) 5. Task Force X I didn't include Batman Beyond in this because I have yet to watch any of the series even though it is out on DVD.
SuperJerk Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 Yeah, my copy of Batman Beyond Season One has just kind of been sitting there collecting dust.
CBright7831 Posted December 12, 2006 Report Posted December 12, 2006 What is everyones favorite episodes from the whole Timm universe? In no order (and changes quite often I might add)... BTAS - Heart of Ice - Perchance To Dream - The Laughing Fish - I Am The Night - Harliquinade - Mad As A Hatter STAS - Legacy - Apokolips...Now! - Mxyzpixilated - The Late Mr. Kent - Fun And Games TNBA - Mad Love - Over The Edge - Joker's Millions The rest were subpar JL - Starcrossed - A Better World - Wild Card - Twilight - Secret Society JLU - The four part arc to Season 2 - Epilogue - For The Man Who Has Everything - The Great Brain Robbery - The Return - Clash - Doomsday Sanction Yeah...I cheated on JLU, but it's so great!
CBright7831 Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 So...who's picked up "Season Two" of JLU on DVD? I did and while the episodes aren't as strong as the ones of the JL Season Two and JLU Season 1 & 2, it's still a pretty good buy. I liked the whole Cadmus featurette and the producers commentating over three of the episodes. Pick it up!
Vampiro69 Posted April 21, 2007 Report Posted April 21, 2007 I picked it up earlier this week. I do agree that it isn't as strong as previous releases. The episodes that I have watched so far that I really enjoy are the Great Brain Robbery and Flash & Substance. Granted I like Flash and Substance because I am a huge Captain Cold fan.

The episodes that I have watched so far that I really enjoy are the Great Brain Robbery and Flash & Substance. Granted I like Flash and Substance because I am a huge Captain Cold fan. Those two would be my favorites of the season along w/ "Alive" (love the way that there is no superhero speaking lines in the whole thing) and "Destroyed" (Superman's climatic fight w/ Darkseid and the ending with Luthor along w/ all of the heroes running down the steps) but it's hard to beat a story arc like the Cadmus arc. I just wish we had some Bat-villains like Scarecrow and Joker appear, but now I understand why cause of Bat-embargo. I also wish there were more appearances by The Question, who after the Cadmus story arc became one of my favorite heroes of the series.
CBright7831 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Bat-embargo? Due to The Batman? Yup. http://dcanimated.wikia.com/wiki/Bat-Embargo On the commentary track of "This Little Piggy", Paul Dini states that both Joker and Harley were suppoed to make appearances. Scarecrow was supposed to be a member of the Legion of Doom in Season 3 of JLU as well as other Bat-villians. Ra's Al Ghul was also slated to make an appearance (Apocolypse of 09 perhaps?)
