OU should probably ass-rape TCU up and down Owen Field......at least I'm hoping. I thought they would do the same to Bowling Green last year and they only won something like 40-24.

Since the game is on Monday who does everyone think has a better chance of beating their respective rival that has haunted them this season? Texas or Florida State?

I'm going to say Texas. I think Oklahoma is a good team but I think this will be the year Texas beats OU. Florida State just has too many off-field problems and not to mention loosing their best Corner in Antonio Cromartie and starting Quarterback.

Reports are coming out that LSU vs. North Texas has been scrapped as well, considering that Baton Rouge is now a refugee camp for displaced New Orleans y'ats.

I'm inclined to agree with you but I just have a hunch about FSU this year.

Colorado State at Colorado, 3:30/12:30 pm, TBS

While I'm stoked that this is on TV (and not on at night, when it's normally on & I'm normally out) I hate the fact that the Rams are likely going to get slaughtered.

Too bad BSU/Iowa isn't in Muncie, I'd like very much to see my ol' Cardinals get their guts stomped out by the best team in the Big Ten.

Houston turning Oregon's defense in swiss cheese with 21 points in the first quarter.

South Carolina scores on his first drive with a long touchdown pass.

This is the guy who ran up the score in his first preseason game as coach of the Redskins. I'm sure he will if he has the chance. Besides UCF is one of the worst team's in the country. They are a long way from when Daunte Culpepper was there.

Oregon woke up in the 2nd half. This game is taking forver though. It'll be four hours by the time its over. Minnesota/Tulsa is already in the 2nd quarter.

And UCF has actually made it a game.

Myron Rolle has committed to Florida St.

Maroney's downfall may very well be the QB. Teams can risk putting 8-9 in the box, and force Cupito to pass. The guy has tunnel vision, and is just too inconsistent to be a Big 10 QB.

Having been there live, a few thoughts:

--- Blake Mitchell looked like a million bucks. He was buried on the bench under Holtz (he is not a mobile guy), but he is the prototype of a Spurrier QB. Provided the line keeps him upright --- a hard thing to do against Georgia next week --- he could be a really solid player. Syvelle Newton is fast as hell and has a cannon of an arm, but he is way too anxious to run and would never work as a Spurrier QB. Him moving to WR is actually a really good move (he was a pretty good WR as a freshman).

--- Carolina can't run for their lives. Perhaps UCF decided to make Mitchell beat them with the pass (their pass "D" was horrid), but Carolina couldn't run. True, we lost our entire backfield from last season (gee, who'd have thought stealing from the university might backfire?) for a wide array of reasons, but that is a little disconcerting. We went from a decent enough running attack to one that might be amongst the most anemic in the conference.

--- The "D" put up some admirable goalline stands, but UCF just owned the ball for the entire second half. World of difference between losing the T.O.P battle because you score quickly and losing because your "D" can't stop a team on 3rd down. I don't like the bend but don't break mentality --- especially since they were getting bent by a rather poor team (though a winless season is not in the cards for UCF)

--- Special teams, as usual, was shaky. It's mind-boggling that we STILL can't figure out how to play special teams (because I doubt anybody outside me really followed them last year, they were horrible last year on special teams. And the year before).

If Spurrier can find a way to make the running game work and to get the D to actually stop a team on 3rd down once in a while, this could be a good team. If he can't, another 6 win season, at best, is in the future.

Do we have a shot at Georgia? I doubt it. I can't picture a way Carolina wins that game.

The concern is that the "D", by all reports, had looked far better than the offense thus far during the summer.

Carolina has one legitimately excellent defensive player (Ko Simpson), but not too many others.

Yeah, I think Georgia is going to destory that line. Newton would be alot more useful in that game, if he calms down a litt.e

Either way, I don't see HOW Georgia loses it.

Tulane University is considering shuting down all fall sports for the remainder of the year including football due to the hurricane. San Antonio has made an offer to host the Sugar Bowl.

Interesting note about Myron Rolle, he actually lives in Galloway, which is 20 mins away from me. He goes to The Hun school up in Princeton as its a prep school.

That being said, since he said he was keen on going to a school that is great academically, why go to Florida State and not Michigan, which is way better in regards to academics? My guess is Bowden used those great closing powers when it comes to recruiting and got Rolle that way...

Wooooooo-hooooooooo! OU opens up against TCU tomorrow. I can't wait. Well I hate the fact that the game is at 11 AM and students have to be there 2 hours early. And since I live 20 minutes from Norman I have to wake up at the ass-crack of dawn to get down there and get a good seat.
