Any ideas on Brock to WWE?

Recommended Posts

Last we heard of it on wwe.com was that Brock dropped all negotiations with WWE, and not long afterward it was reported that the lawsuit was still active. So is that a work and Brock has signed, just trying to get the ring rust off for a return? Or did they really stop negotiations?

I want to see Brock return and I think there is a LOT of money to be made from him coming back.

As far as I know, there hasn't been anything reported on the situation from Meltzer or anyone else recently.

I think it's bullshit. There is no way WWE.com would ever report anything about Lesnar if it wasn't a done deal. If they DID do that then they are idiots.

I really have never cared for Lesnar much but at least him coming back would likely put an end to the Bradshaw crap that has killed Smackdown for over a year. I don't think there is a huge amount of money to be made off of Brock, aside from maybe a WM match with Batista. After that, what? They have to job him to Batista for a variety of reasons.

Well, I disagree about jobbing him to Batista. I like Batista, but Brock is a better ground wrestler and has many more years in him. He really was the future at one point and could be again.

Not a lot of money to be made?

If they can convince him to stick around long term, he's pretty much their best hope for the future. No one else they currently have holds up to him. Batista's too old, Orton's not over enough and possibly never will be, and the shelf life on Cena's act won't last forever.

I can say that a lot of people (myself included) expected him to show up at SummerSlam in DC. A lot of us were disappointed he didn't, you could tell the crowd wanted to see him badly.

This had not been talked about in a long time and there was no need to bump an old thread that had 7-8 pages of fantasy booking, discussing Brock's past and future, etc.

Sorry that I brought up "this again," but I (and I am sure others) are legitimately interested in the progress of Brock's negotiations/signing/eventual return.

Not everybody can read every reply to every thread every day, dude. Seems you're getting a little carried away with your hostility over something so fucking tranquil.

Perhaps we need a pinned thread by you that has every answer to the WWE universe to prevent myself and others from asking questions that you know the answer to? That way, you wouldn't have to have your life ruined by coming into threads that you don't want to be involved in and contribute to them anyway.

Heh, ok you're right. I apologize to you, Imarkout, but Cabbageboy still needs to get a clue.

Apology accepted. But now I must apologize for my response I gave before I saw your apology. :D

No, it's actually a good idea. This could give people a chance to get their questions answered without having to make threads for it. I know you wanted to induce discussion, but really as far as Brock goes, anything that is discussed is purely fantasy booking. We don't know what they want out of Brock besides the Batista match. When he gets signed (he will eventually, he just hasn't yet), then I think it would be more appropriate to discuss what happens to him. However if you guys feel the need to discuss things about Brock, go ahead. I only came here to answer that one question. Resume your regular programming. :)

We already have too many pinned threads. I'm under the feeling that there shouldn't ever be more than two pinned threads at a time.

I mean, we have a pinned, locked thread with the folder rules. Who reads that? They could just read the rules in the Feedback folder. It just takes up room at the top of the most active folder. It's not like new people would read it anyway and everyone else knows what is going on...but a lot of them choose to ignore rules anyway. Shit doesn't get enforced anyway unless it's a new poster doing it. All the "established" posters can do whatever the fuck they want...like MikeSC in the TNA folder.

What do I need to get a clue about exactly? Brock is going to be back, I have little doubt about that. There's no way they would even mention him on WWE.com without it being basically done. I wondered if the whole "negotiations break down" thing is a ploy and so did many others on here.

I'd also like to know how Lesnar is going to draw all this money. They've pushed him as hard as humanly possible and he didn't draw especially well. How's he going to get over more now than before when he won KOTR, then the WWE title in his first year? Does anyone think they will push him quite as hard again after leaving them high and dry?

Sure it'd be nice to see him back...anything would be better than another 6 months of JBL.

The reason I think Brock will draw money is that his first run in the company was pretty impressive from a wrestling standpoint. He showed his skill as a wrestler, and is a legitimate threat to anyone on the roster (kayfabe). He provides something no one else can at his size. He has a freakish, menacing build, amazing athleticism, and legitimate wrestling background. He was looked at as the future of the WWE by many, and I have heard both hardcore and casual fans remark at how dominate he is and how he is one of the main reasons they watch(ed).

Now, in 2005, we have very little to look forward to, especially on Smackdown. Business is down, the wrestling has suffered, everything is bleak. And when it looks bleak, there is nowhere to go but up.

Enter Brock Lesnar. WWE doesn't have to build him up the way they do someone else that debuts. He already has the history. Any fans that quit watching when he left, or shortly after, will be intrigued to see what he does. He has a lot of opponents he can face that he never has before, has unfinished business with, or are in a different position than when he left.

Smackdown

Brock vs. Batista

Brock vs. Eddie

Brock vs. Benoit

Brock vs. Orton

Brock vs. Rey

Brock vs. JBL

Brock vs. Christian (if they would ever push Christian)

Brock vs. Burchill (down the line)

Raw

Brock vs. Triple H

Brock vs. HBK

Brock vs. Cena (his character is much farther along now)

Brock vs. Shelton

Brock vs. RVD

Brock vs. Edge

Brock vs. Kane

Brock vs. Hardy

Brock vs. Foley (could be awesome if Foley can get in shape like the Orton match)

Brock vs. Rock (rematch at a Mania or Slam could be huge)

So yeah, he has a lot of interesting matchups that he could do that have awesome potential as matches as well. Brock can work, and he would be someone both fresh and credible in the main event at the same time. Making your shows watchable and intriguing (especially the ME's) is a huge part of drawing.

Cool thing is, I find every single fucking one of those matches interesting! :) That's how I know Brock is awesome.

There's even more, though some are reaching:

Brock vs. Austin

Brock vs. Vince

Brock vs. Shane

Brock vs. Angle (again)

Brock vs. Jericho (if he returns)

Some of them are reaching, but all would be fun to watch.

Sure. And if this thread is pointless, I would say that about 35 other threads are pointless as well. Might as well close 'em all.

Thats pretty much my point. Too many pointless threads (this was just an example) that a few months ago would have been dealt with by mods.

I agree but you can't just lock them all. Then the first page is full of nothing but pinned threads and locked topics.

I like when they're either moved (without the "reminder link" left behind) or deleted.

CanadianChick does a good job. I don't even know who the other mods are to be honest.

I have no problem with this thread being deleted if the majority think it's useless. However, this is a message board designed to discuss the goings on in WWE. I could see if this was very off-topic or asinine. We discussed RVD's injury and when he might come back in previous topics, yet he has a new article discussing it on wwe.com. Should we not discuss that or ask if there is any update on him?

All I am saying is this thread has gotten some discussion on any update of Brock and how he could be a draw upon his return. I just don't see the point of saying, let's not let people discuss this here, but it's fine to discuss this over here.

If people want to talk about something, it is not ruining the forum. Scroll down the page a bit and find the topic you want to discuss. Hell, after two days or so it might even be on page 3. If you don't want to discuss something that you think has been discussed enough, just stay out.

Do you not think it is stupid to post in a thread that you think people should not be posting in?

Before the thread is closed I'll add some thoughts to these proposed matches:

Smackdown

Brock vs. Batista: The one surefire money drawer for Brock. Even I'd be interested in this one.

Brock vs. Eddie: It's been done, might draw an ok amount and produce a good match, but no blockbuster.

Brock vs. Benoit: It's been done, didn't really draw much.

Brock vs. Orton: Yawn.

Brock vs. Rey: Might be a Smackdown match, not much else.

Brock vs. JBL: Please God no.

Brock vs. Christian (if they would ever push Christian): Jobber squash.

Brock vs. Burchill (down the line): Haven't seen enough of Burchill to say. At this point another jobber squash.

Raw

Brock vs. Triple H: Could prove intriguing, might draw at a WM or something but otherwise I dunno.

Brock vs. HBK: Might be ok if Shawn bumps like a madman.

Brock vs. Cena (his character is much farther along now): Fairly interesting but the match would be crap.

Brock vs. Shelton: Sadly a jobber squash.

Brock vs. RVD: Keep Brock the fuck away from RVD.

Brock vs. Edge: I'm indifferent here.

Brock vs. Kane: Raw match, not much more.

Brock vs. Hardy: Do we really need Brock squashing the Hardys again?

Brock vs. Foley (could be awesome if Foley can get in shape like the Orton match): If Foley kills himself it might be fun but it doesn't reek of Dream Match exactly.

Brock vs. Rock (rematch at a Mania or Slam could be huge): Been there, done that, seen the Rock job.

To dignify a response to a few...

Brock vs. Benoit: It's been done, didn't really draw much.

It did a 3.4 on a throwaway December show, which was up .4 from the week prior. Who knows if it could do well for buyrates - probably not - but it's a worth a shot if comes down to it.

Brock vs. JBL: Please God no.

Brock is one of the few guys that got *** out of THE BIG SHOW. Layfield is a much more capable wrestler than him, and with the fact that Brock can mold to any style to fit into the context of a match, the match should at least be an entertaining brawl. Layfield/Batista was a failure workrate-wise from the beginning. Inserting Brock into either program does wonders for his opponent.

Brock vs. HBK: Might be ok if Shawn bumps like a madman.

Umm, duh. The match WILL be great, because Shawn WILL bump like a madman.

Brock vs. RVD: Keep Brock the fuck away from RVD

The other way around.

Brock vs. Rock (rematch at a Mania or Slam could be huge): Been there, done that, seen the Rock job.

Yeah, who needs money these days?

Just my two cents on the above:

Agreed on Brock vs. Batista. They should aim for this for Mania22. Should do good business.

I loved Brock vs. Eddie. One of my favorites for 2004. I see no reason why it shouldn't do ok again.

Brock vs. Benoit only happened once on SD! IIRC, and resulted in an outstanding match. Don't see how you could say it didn't draw, it wasn't on PPV.

There was a very decent Brock vs. Orton match on SD! back when Orton was fairly new. Specially sweet was the reversal of an Orton bodypress into the F5.

RVD had a series with Brock already, culminating at KOTR. Brock was very green at the time, so this could improve.

Not sure if Brock wreslted Cena already on OVW. I think they faced each other on tag teams. Could be interesting.

Brock vs. Edge was the main event for the Rebellion PPV in the UK a couple of years back, and i thought was a pretty good outing.

I'm indifferent on the other matchups, but I'm curious what HBK could do with Brock with the proper build.

Brock vs. Benoit didn't draw because it was a taped Smackdown match. They have never had a real feud or had a PPV match.

The Eddie feud was short buildup/great match. They could use a big feud and work off their last match.

I think Orton would be a good match-up for Brock. Orton is not as bad as people make out. He was just pushed too hard, too soon initially.

As far as Christian goes, I said if they would ever push him. You could say any of these matches could be squashes. This is fake wrestling, where it can be booked to be more competitive than a squash. Christian can carry a feud on the mic and resort to using chairs and shit to get the better of Brock leading up to the match.

Burchill was meant to be down the line....as in way down the line. The other feuds listed for Smackdown could last well over a year. Burchill might never amount to anything in WWE, so it is just pure speculation. A lot of people on here were looking forward to Burchill from the clips and compared him to Brock.

Oh, and find the Rey/Brock match from Smackdown and tell me that wouldn't be a good feud with some good matches.

Over on Raw, the HBK match and feud would no doubt be good. HBK has been putting on great performances over the last year.

And again, why say Brock would squash Hardy? Supposedly Hardy will come out of this feud with Edge as an upper-midcard wrestler.

And no matter if we have seen Brock/Rock before, the Rock returning would draw well.
