Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2005 Good "Ooh, that looked like a solid shot" brutal or bad "He missed him by half a foot" brutal? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it was seriously brutal. Batista went to hit JBL with the rope as JBL was on all fours, and as he did the bell was loose in the air, went under JBL, wrapped around, and slammed right into his face. Guest Trecko Report post Posted September 10, 2005 Burchill was real impressive even though he's highspotless. Really like him and Regal together. Showed he can talk a good game. Kennedy's backstage segment with Sharmell was great. That's the kind of stuff he's been doing in OVW (and shows he's more than just a one-trick pony). Otherwise, the rest is missable. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeesss. That Burchill match, for as simple as it was, I actually enjoyed, simply for him 1.) fucking up Scotty, 2.) his micwork before hand (the accent makes it even better), and 3.) his working on Scotty's arm to set him up for the submission. But if this is the bland ass route they're going with him after seeing him doing 2 man suplexes and that flipping Rock Bottom type shit...I'll definitely be pissed. I didn't see what he did last week to comment on it, but hopefully they do allow him to do some of that. And the Kennedy segment had me rollin. I actually forgot about the echo he does, so at the end when he interrupted Sharmell, I thought it was done, and when he came back I broke out laughing. I DEMAND louder reactions from the crowd for this guy. That, or Smackdown needs to step it's faking crowd response game up. It kills it for me when there's no response to what is being done. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2005 Has Dusty Rhodes taken over as Smackdown head writer yet? I didn't really enjoy the cage match, but the bullrope had some good suspense to it.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2005 I'm watching that first hour of SD right now, and this Ken Kennedy stuff is once again gold. I just don't see how people can't see "it" in this guy. I haven't seen a more obvious superstar in many years.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2005 I'm sort of dissapointed in you guys...none of you made "we need more cowbell" joke's for the bullrope match.

clean rob 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2005 This week's SD! was the best one in ages. Apart from the two good matches (tag titles/cage match), when was the last time the WWE had a show where two rookies were getting pushed, and it was actually enjoyable? I would just like to add to the already mentioned praise for Kennedy and Burchill that one of my favourite moments of 2005 is now Burchill calling Scotty a 'techno-dancing poof'. It was classic. Also, I actually don't mind the direction they're taking with Burchill by taking out his crazy highspots, the shoulderbreaker/armbar finish reminds me a lot of Samoa Joe's Musclebuster/Choke finish - a nice blend of an impact move followed by an appropriate submission. I do hope they let him bust out some big spots in PPV matches once he moves up the card though.
Guest slmon Report post Posted September 10, 2005 I also think that Kennedy has it. From his promo backstage, I guess there might be a 3-way for the US title soon, i.e. Booker, Benoit and Kennedy? Don't bet against Kennedy, if so. Did anyone else, though, find Eddie/Rey awfully disjointed? Stupid and frustrating to cut that match into three parts. Thank God, though, for the Eddie win. There was no need for Rey to get so many wins against him; splitting the wins or letting Rey go 4-3 would've been good enough.

Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 This actually was a good show. SD! has got some nice things going. Eddie finally beat Rey, LOD/MNM feud is making the Tag Titles mean something again, Batista/JBL was a good match, Ken Kennedy is on fire and Paul Burchill has a great character as well. SD! > RAW
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2005 Well sure Smackdown was better than Raw has been of late. Thing is, Raw is a blatant lame duck show on Spike TV at the moment. They are just doing whatever crap to get by until Oct. when the heavy hitters return on USA.
