This Week in College Football 9/15 - 9/17

Recommended Posts

The Huskers' demise isn't permanent. As soon as Callahan's recruits are ready to start, the West Coast offense will become effective, and Nebraska will be back on top of the Big XII North.

You are making the assumption that Husker Nation will be willing to sit back and give Callahan the time needed to make this happen. Pederson (the Nebraska AD) had made it sound like Nebraska wouldn't miss a beat from the Solich to Callahan eras. If Nebraska crashes and burns again I wouldn't be surprised to see both Callahan and Pederson out on their asses.

As for my Iowa Hawkeyes...they will be in a bad mood and Northern Iowa is about to get clobbered. This isn't the real rivalry game, Lou Holtz...this is the real blood-letting. :firing:

Oh God, going back to that Pitt point...these guys CANNOT under any circumstances be in contention for a BCS bid again.  No.  Under no circumstances.  It was a complete joke they got in the BCS last year, but this year??  After losing to OHIO?

It could happen. Just pray that Louisville doesn't tank the Big East.

"The conferences whose champions have a guaranteed annual berth in one of the BCS bowls are subject to review and possible loss of that guaranteed annual berth should the conference champion not have an average ranking of 12 or higher over a four-year period."

In other words, last year was an aberration, and as long as Louisville is as good as advertised and/or another Big East team steps up and gets good, there's no problem.

Last year was a pretty good finish for the Big East title...4 teams in contention the final weekend of the season. They just didn't have that overpowering team that can be in the top of the rankings the way they have had in recent years with Va. Tech and Miami. Getting just made Utah's bitch in the Fiesta Bowl didn't help them either.

Another Big East team to watch out for...UConn. Their football team looks damn good and they have the means to become a football power in years to come.

Last year the Big East winner was basically a JTTS no matter who it was. I mean wasn't it like Pitt, Cuse, BC, and someone else (WVU?)? Let's face it, none of those teams exactly inspire fear.

Man, I was a bit worried the first quarter when Oregon St. jumped out 10-0. But that 2nd quarter was just bad ass for U of L. We went from down 10 to up 35-10 at the half. After the 2nd half with UK I'm still a bit worried, I want to see a consistent effort here. No calling off the dogs.

On the SEC front, perennial jobber Vanderbilt is kicking the shit out of Ole Miss, 17-3.

Looks like the Commodores may be for real this year.

3 more wins after today and they go bowling for only the 3rd time in their history.

The funniest thing is that during the offseason I was posting on this College FB message board and I made a poll called "Who will win the SEC?" And I put the big teams on there and then at the bottom as a joke put

"Fuck that noise. Here comes Vandy."

I didn't think I was serious!

Man fumbles and turnovers have plagued OU this season

After Clayton mishandled the punt last year against OSU and then Bradley mishandled the punt against USC and NOW Holmes messes up the punt against UCLA.......I will forever fear punts as a Sooner.

U of L beat the ever loving shit out of Oregon St. 63-27. What's funny is that I didn't think OR St. was all that bad of a team. I don't like giving up 27 but most of it was garbage points when it was way out of hand anyway. This was Oregon St.'s first loss since that narrow loss to USC last year (was that the fog game?).

The Notre Dame bandwagon might get a lot lighter. Michigan St is up 31-17 and just forced a Irish fumble on the MSU 1 yard line.

Meanwhile, UCLA is doing exactly what I thought they would. Stacking the box and forcing OU to beat them through the air. And OU just cannot do it. This team is undisplincined and inexperienced.

And just as I say it, they change their gameplan and give up a 19 yard run to the quarterback then 11 yd touchdown to Peterson. OU still might get a win here.

Zook's Illi leading 14-7 on CAL late in the first half.

Touchdown Adrian Peterson.

Ok even if OU wins this game......do they drop out of the Top 25? I'd think that b/c it's on the road against a good team they may just stay right where they're at but this game still doesn't give much hope.

Althought Bomar is at least showing some flashes of being a good player someday in between fumbling snaps.

UCLA on the road isn't Tulsa at home.

OU would stay where they are.

I'm really liking Drew Stanton. This kid looks great, and had he not gotten hurt last year MSU would've beaten Michigan.

Miami is up 13-10 and looking to score again, and the Nebraska-Pittsburgh game is quite ugly.

That Pitt-Nebraska game is coming across like:

"No I don't wanna win, you win."

"Oh no, we aren't winning, you win."

"No way man, you win!"

"NO, YOU!"

Michigan State just owns Notre Dame. I knew I should have gone with the upset.

To show how little interest there is college football in the Bay Area, Cal's game against Illinois is no where to be found locally on t.v. today. They are losing 17-7 in the 2nd quarter, hehehehe.

It's a moot point anyways b/c OU isn't winning this game.

Good god it's really like they just want to give the win away. They just keep making as many mistakes as possible. Turnovers, busted plays, boneheaded moves.....just everything possible to not win. It's kind of frustrating.

Baylor doesn't have a winnable game on their schedule the rest of the way, they'll end up 4-7 at best if they pull an upset some where. Vanderbilt has three winnable games left to get to 6-5.

They can probably take Oklahoma in a tight game.

It's nice to know that OU has decided to play the whole season with their heads up their asses.
