Disturbed 10,000 Fists

Recommended Posts

So as the topic title says, has anyone picked up 10,000 Fists yet? I love Disturbed's current singles, Guarded and Stricken, so I'm hoping the rest of the album is just as good.

Thoughts?

I may snag this one, I heard Ten Thousand Fists on Madden 06 and thought it was decent...better than anything on the last album...reviews I've read called it their best, so take that for what you will...

It's got the aggression and groove of their debut with the melody and songwriting prowess they introduced in thier second CD. It also has the heavy drumming of their second Cd mixed with the hooks of their first. I am a huge Disturbed fan, so I do have a bias, but it's still worth checking out if you're a fan of commercially viable heavy rock.

I'm actually a Disturbed fan and I don't like the album. I've been listening to it several times though. I'm hoping that it'll grow on me. So far, the only songs that I like are "Ten Thousand Fists" and the "Land of Confusion" cover.

Stricken is a pretty good song. I'll let someone else buy it first then give it a listen. I've been too busy to actually download albums now.

My understanding is that, if you're into that kind of music, they're very good at it.  But Czech, I think that is a world for neither you nor I.

They are the best of their genre of music, Nu-Metal. That's not saying but much but they are well above 75% of today's rock/metal acts.

I haven't heard to much of 10,000 fists just yet other then small snippets and the current "Stricken" radio hit but It sounds pretty solid and I enjoyed Believe and I've heard nothing but praise for 10,000 Fists.

I haven't listened to the album yet, but I noticed you guys talking about a "Land of Confusion" cover, that wouldn't happen to be the old Genesis song would it?

EDIT: Wow...just listened to it and it IS a cover of that song. Well I'll be damned.

I've bought their first two and I'll buy this one sooner than later. Just don't feel like driving out of the fucking state right now to get an unedited copy.

Might order it online if my damn music club ever decides to offer it up.

I think I "out grew" Disturbed after I turned 16.

Same here, except 18 in my case. I listened to shitty rock/metal all throughout high school.

I liked 10,000 Fists the first two times when it was called The Sickness and Believe.

Actually this was Distubed's biggest leap musically. They added some kick ass guitar solos, the layed the tempos back a lot, and they did a lot of new things musically. Then again, Dan followed the trend of every effing guitarist OVERUSING THE WAH PEDAL

Except I'd say this was nothing like The Sickness and definitely improved upon Believe, so I'm not sure where you're coming from.

I'm glad that at least these guys are improving with each album. Most bands nowdays either blow their good stuff, which is usually one song, on the first album or they start mediocre and never rise past that level.

Hows that? Because they stick to a formula? Does that then mean if you've seen one Kurt Angle match, youve seen them all?

It means that Disturbed is very samey. Being formulaic isn't always a bad thing; it just depends on the formula. Disturbed is about as middle ground as nu-metal radio gets, which is plenty successful but is completely devoid of anything innovative.

Their formula sucks, so they should try something else.

Disturbed is good for what they are, and that's the "aggressive" side of radio-friendly rock. System Of A Down still has their asses beat in every single sense of the word, though: better show, better music, more growth between albums, better lyrics, and better vocals.

I dunno, I've heard them both live and SOAD seems to be very pro-tooled. Serj cant pull of his studio voice live, David can.

10,000 Fists was definitely an improvement over Believe, however, I still feel that the Sickness was their best album. They've been getting better album to album, which is good, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the crunchy, angry feel from their first.

Now, I can't really comment on SOAD being good/bad live, but I will agree that Disturbed is excellent live. They're probably one of the better live acts I've seen in the past few years. David Draiman is very charismatic, and the music never seemed off or sloppy when I've seen them.

I do really like SOAD though, and wish I could see them live :(

It'd be hard for Disturbed to get sloppy on their songs live, though...considering it's pretty generic riffage. Though they are a VERY good live band (I didn't care for them at all until seeing them live, and then "Voices" and "Down With The Sickness" grew on me). I don't really care at all for "Stricken," and since I haven't bought a Disturbed album yet and just listened to a friend's copy here and there, I think I'll do the same.
