Bobby Lashley

Recommended Posts

That guy is all of 245-255 at most.  He's not THAT tall.

Depends on how he's built though.

I'm 5'10" (barely) and I weigh from 230-240 yet only look about 180-190 at most. And i'm not even heavily muscled, I could probably put on 20 pounds if I worked at it. I can definitely buy him being 265-275.

Variations in bone density can contribute a lot to your weight, as well as just how much water weight your body can hold. Everyone's physiological makeup is slightly different :)

Yeah, but from the guys total lack of body fat and assumeing that the 175 amatuer weight was accurate, it is very unlikely that he is 100 lbs heavier now. and I don't care of HGH is pumping through his veins instead of blood.

I don't go by what the announcers say the weight is anymore. I heard Lillian say D'Von Dudley weighed 220 pounds. Yeah right... He's jacked to the nines!

Tonight will be my first night seeing the guy. It'll be interesting to watch probably.

ROFLMFAO at the HGH pumping through his veins line. That's too funny.

Haven't seen Lashley's work yet, but I was at the bar and caught a short peice of his interation with Simon Dean.

I can't believe people are comparing him with Monty Brown already and some are saying he's better than Monty. I don't know what it is about the Alpha Male, but I'll tell you one thing.. that mother fucker is DRIPPING with charisma. Monty, one way or another, will be a fuckin FORCE in this business. If he doesn't become a force, then something is terribly terribly wrong.

I always thought of him as a dork actually. Thats how he acts anyway. Maybe thats just his gimmick in TNA but Im not convinced that he will become huge as a wrestler.

People that actually think the WWE are giving his actual weight are being stupid. Do you people think Shawn Michaels actually weighs 230?

I'm guessing they are employing the usual policy of "add 25lbs and 3 inches" so while he probably has put on a lot of muscle, I doubt he's actually what they are promoting him as stats wise. They advertise Rey Mysterio 15lbs over and he is the smallest guy on the roster and Kane wears lifts in his boots to appear taller, so I doubt they are being honest in regards to Lashley either.

Lasley already has impressed me more than monty brown. MB finishind move sucks, and he tries to rip off the rock with his facial expressions.

I like Brown a lot more then Lashley right now, but it might change depending on how good Lashley gets. Right now the only thing Lashley has on Brown is a finisher that doesn't look hilariously bad.

Well, Lashley now has a feud set up with the Dean machine!, Simon should be able to put him over nicely and it will be interesting to see how long thier Unforgiven match lasts. Lashley did a nice job of selling the legwork done by this Simpson jobber tonite.

As far as WWE over-inflating wrestlers stats, I have always known about that, but the person who said if Lashley really weighed 290 like I thought they would bill him as 300 is dead on, that makes sense and I will have to back off my body weight calculations because of it. However, Lashley's still very impressive even if hes not 6'3 and 275. Just look at the lats and traps on that mofo, he looks like he could fly away by wiggling his shoulders.

Moves pretty well for a big man... I saw him for the first time on Friday night, and my very first thought was, "hrmm... I'd like to see him and Shelton Benjamin in a tag team; they'd be like a modern-day Hart Foundation, with Benjamin as a somewhat-lesser Hitman, and Lashley as a somewhat-greater Anvil."

My second thought was, "of course, they'd need a mouthpiece. Too bad Teddy Long's busy."

The first time I saw him I was impressed but on the latest Smackdown his body didn't look that big for some reason and his face looked weird. I don't like it how we don't hear anything about these guys and their potential and they all of a sudden show up. And obviously I am not counting the people who follow OVW.

Can someone please tell me what is impressive about that version of the Dominator? When Farooq did it, okay, it looked ipressive in that "one day, that move is going to kill someone" kinda way. Lashley looks like he is body slamming the guy. it looks really low impact. Ofcourse, it is a face plant so I guess it looks like something, but really, with the right guy taking it, the Pounce looks like they were hit by a truck.

I ain't a Monty fan. I think his Warrior promos are silly and exposing. But dammit, the guy does make you watch when he is in the ring. I just HATE his mic work.

I dunno... ever been driven face-first into the ground, with part of another guy's body weight bearing into the back of your neck? Because that's what I thought the move looked like, and that would definitely hurt the hell out of me...

If you want a move that looks deadly, may I refer you to the Razor's Edge?-Now THAT would fucking kill you if done improperly, its a folded neckbreaker with your entire bodyweight coming down on your own neck and no way of controlling the impact. The reciever is absolutely helpless during it.

Lashley's dominator seems different than Farooq's to me somehow, more forceful with the press after the slam. And I could swear Farooq's wasn't a face down bump. Maybe I'm wrong....

I've seen people who can really sell the Pounce, but in no way is it comparable to being slammed on your face and having a 260+ pounder landing on you at the same time. Monty's finisher only exists because he played football, no one else would get away with a shoulder tackle since the days of Hacksaw Jim Duggan. Don't mention the spear, too many people do it now.

Meltzer said that Lashley is by far the worst worker to come out of OVW, and that it is a credit to Nova/Simon Dean that he looked so good.

I like the guy, but I hate his finisher. I agree that it doesn't really look like a huge impact move. The setup for it is impressive, but the payoff just doesn't work for me.

Maybe since he's not using it anymore, give him Matt Morgan's old Suplex reversed into Rock Bottom move?

I always liked that, so I'd take it.

I wish someone would just do a really good normal powerbomb again.

I agree with that. I saw Kevin Nash do his ol' powerbomb last week on Impact and I loved it. Just a simple powerbomb. No spinning um around 400 degrees then holding up and dropping them. No faceplants... just a powerbomb. And it worked for me.

Now if Bobby did a sit-out version, he could kill someone...

I love the flashy moves, but I still love the simple things. I want someone to just do a normal powerbomb. I wouldn't mind someone doing a really good brainbuster, etc...

You liked that? That was the shittiest powerbomb I've seen in quite some time. It was more like a "drop bomb" than an actual powerbomb; he pretty much just picked the guy up, stepped back, and watched him fall.

I've always been a mark for his drop bomb. I don't know why... and yeah it wasn't the best powerbomb in the world... but it was still just a regular powerbomb, and you don't see that enough anymore.

JBL used to do some stiff powerbombs when he was in the APA. He should add them back into his repertoire, especially against Rey in their feud.

And if you want a good powerbomb, wait on Benoit to bust out his every few years.

I am a huge fan of Scott Norton's powerbomb.

I also didn't mind Nash's, since it was different at least...it just isn't that hard hitting, it's more of just a high fall. Then of course Benoit's is great, and Vader's is about my favorite.

I like this guy. I agree that using his name will make it tough(er) for him to get over, but hey, look at Shelton Benjamin. Now that's a mouthfull. As for his finisher, I nearly shat my pants. I loved the dominator when Farooq did it, and yes, Lashley's is different. Lashley holds his opponent in the upright psoition longer, and wraps his opponent's arm around Lashley's neck, then drops them. Farooq never did this. Also, when most people sold the old dominator, it looked horrible because they would land on their hands and knees, instead of their face. It looked awful (much in the way people sometimes sell the pedigree). I do, also agree that his facial expressions are . . . well . . . unusual.

A big man who's agile. Now that's a new concept -- oh wait. If they allow him to showcase his mat wrestling skills, then that would be a step in teh right direction. We'll see how he does.

By the way, someone mentioned Matt Morgan's finisher. Could someone describe it in more detail?

OK.

Morgan got his opponent up into a vertical suplex, and held them vertical. However, insted of dropping back, it APPEARED he was going to quickly set the person down, but as he lowered the person he turned it into the position which I can best describe as a Rock Bottom.

I'm sure someone could make a .gif of it, but I don't have that knowledge.
