EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Game 1: Peavy vs. Carpenter Game 2: Astacio vs. Mulder Game 3: Morris vs. Eaton This series has two off games, which works in the Padres' favor if they hope to pull an upset.
MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 I'm concerned about the Padres here, specifically Peavy. And the way Carpenter (And all the starters) has (have) been of late, this is a very dangerous match up for the Cards. The problem for the Padres is winning a extra game in between Peavy's starts. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 San Diego is 4-3 against St. Louis this year. They can definitely win.
Hektik 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 The game is less than an hour away & I am excited that the Padres will be going up against the best in the National League. This team has played some of it's best baseball against the better teams in the National League. Earlier in the year they were just 3 outs away from being the first NL team to pull off a season sweep of the Braves. Then they won the season series with the Cardinals. The most impressive thing about that was they won 3 out of 4 in St. Louis. Best scenario for the Padres is Jake Peavy is going today and game 4 (if neccessary). 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 I want the Padres to win it all. Just because I hate every other team involved in this. I don't even think I'll watch the AL if both the Red Sox and Yankees advance. That is just my sign to turn the channel to something else.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Anyone else ever listen to Mike Shannon? From what I hear, he is the king of the jinxing comment. "Wouldn't it be nice if Pujols won the game with a home run here?" "Let's hope the Cards can get a double play." Comments of that nature.
Richard 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 If we can just learn not to hit into double plays, we may have a chance.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 I'm pretty sure Peavy getting rocked for 4 runs in 4 innings in Game 1 wasn't the start Padres fans were looking for.

mike546 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Carpenter pulled after warning ump for the 7th. That can't be good for Cardinals fans. Edit: Cramps in his hand.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Anyone else ever listen to Mike Shannon? From what I hear, he is the king of the jinxing comment. "Wouldn't it be nice if Pujols won the game with a home run here?" "Let's hope the Cards can get a double play." Comments of that nature. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's awful. In my two seasons of getting Cards' baseball, I've often hoped Joe f'n Buck would cut him off everytime he tried to talk, and then say something himself. This series is already like last year's NLDS with LA.
devo 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Huh, Padres got something going here. 8-5 Cardinals with two outs, two men on. Top of the ninth.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Well, at least the ninth has been a little interesting.

devo 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Man, the Padres' third base coach sucks. Edit: Holy shit, what a terrible at bat.
Guest Smues Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Oh sure Robert Fick can get big post season hits now. For us in the psot season all he did was Tomahawk chop people while running to 1st.

Dogbert 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Geez. Win or no win, I wouldn't be too cocky if I was a Card. The pen looked REALLY shaky today.
devo 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 But then again, the Padres' rotation after Peavy is pretty mediocre. I'd be really surprised if the Cardinals offense let the pen become a factor in the rest of this series.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Peavy is out for the playoffs: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2005...tory?id=2181056 That may explain a few things.
Guest TheDon Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Bad loss for the Padress. I see Peavy is injured. To lose your best starter for the playoffs. No chance in hell they are going to win now. I was actually rooting for them as the underdog. I wonder how they would have down if their best pitcher Peavy didn't give up 8 runs in like 4 innings. Hopefully they can make a contests out of this series and not roll over in 3 games.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Peavy is now not ruling out a Game 4 start. Allow me to rule it out for him, because the Padres aren't getting to a Game 4.
