The Office, Season Two

Good episode overall, below average on the funny side. Michael trying WAY too hard to be a good leader and blowing it then give good counsel to Jim when he wasn't trying at the end was terrific. I like how they are making Michael have a wide range of emotions as opposed to just being a complete idiot. Although I'm sure Jim telling him about his crush on Pam was a mistake.

Another funny episode last night. Michael's attitude was frighteningly similiar to a co-worker of mine.

 

"Dwight, what's your middle name?"

"Danger!"

Michael was a tad bit over the top with his asshole qualities, but other than that, this was an excellent episode. I love how they're going about the Angela/Dwight thing incredibly slow, the continuing jokes about Meredith are great, and everything Dwight did.

I thought last night's Office was the funniest one that I'd seen all season (admittedly, though, I haven't seen that many episodes.)

 

Dwight throwing up on his back window after the car crash had me literally laughing out (which I very rarely do) and Michael defining the rules of "shotgun" was a riot.

 

Very, very good episode.

Yeah the whole 'definition of Shotgun' interview killed me. They've done that a few times in the series and it's always gold. Like when Michael describes to the camera what BFF means, or the time he starts talking about what TMI means (too much information) and claims he invented it.

Awesome episode overall but the high point for me was the car trip where Dwight finds the liquor and Jim starts spraying him and Michael with the spray bottle. That or the very end when Michael shoves his foot into the CAT scan machine.

Definitely a good episode last night. I think The Office has actually surpassed Lost as the show that I enjoy the most each week. The only thing I hate is that it's so damn short. It seems like they don't even fill their half hour each week.

 

It seems like most comedies nowadays either go for subtle humor, or just do really bad, broad jokes that aren't really funny at all. The Office is the only show that really does over-the-top comedy right. I usually end up spending about half the episode laughing out loud.

I agree completely. I was the only one in the room at the time but that had me howling. Possibly my favourite moment of the season thus far.

Pretty good episode. I liked how Dwight was oblivious to Oscar being gay and was just pre-occupied with how proud he was that he caught him faking being sick.

It's great how Dwight takes things to extremes. Remember, Michael just told him to see if Oscar really was home, and it turns into an all-day stakeout.

Much like Michael, I went around work trying the "updog" joke with various co-workers. Much like Michael, I was met with responses that did not allow me to do the punch line. Excellent stuff, both on TV and in real life.

God I love this show. At least I know that even though I won't have Arrested Development for another year or possibly never, I still have The Office.

Shit, I forgot about Michael singing 'Our Lips Are Sealed' and saying it was by the Bangles. Not quite as funny as 'Raging Bull, Pacino', but still pretty good stuff.

The actors have presumably been paid already for the shows in the can, so NBC needs ad revenue to make up for it.

 

Personally, I think that airing after Earl is a good spot for Joey. I think having Apprentice on at 9 was what was really hurting NBC with the ratings families. So with the return of an all-comedy block, the show should probably do better than it did before.

I've yet to see a preview for the show, but from the description I read, I don't hold much faith in it lasting more than the six episode order.

 

In other news, Emily's Reasons Why Not has joined the likes of South of Sunset and The Will as one of the few shows to be canceled after a single episode.
