C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Saw A History of Violence this weekend. I really enjoyed the movie, although it did have some flaws. It was not what I expected, in a good way.
Blade2kxx 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 And I saw Domino and loved it! The trailers don't sell the movie well at all, because the general public will hate the movie for sure. The editing is crazy and Tony Scott loves them there camera tricks, but it all works out in the sense of the movie. Plus, Christopher Walken does his Walken thing like always. I'd avoid if you get motion sickness... people thought Man on Fire was bad. Domino is about 20x worse.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Saw A History of Violence this weekend. I really enjoyed the movie, although it did have some flaws. It was not what I expected, in a good way. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> FLAWS?! This movie was boring, and had the worst script writing I have ever seen. There was so much potential in this movie and after a third of the way through it tanked.

It had a nice methodical pace that lead just about perfect to the confrontation between Harris and Co. and Viggo and Co. at the house. Now from that point on, yes it did kind of drag but overall it was still a very unique and enjoyable film. To say it has to worst script writing you've ever seen is ridiculous. Speaking of ridiculous, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but had a free ticket to the Fog and actually enjoyed that movie immensily over the weekend. I was a huge fan of the original, and it was good to see Carpenter still attached to the remake. Essentially the good parts of the original were emphasized here behind a backdrop of some new storylines implimented. The ending was fucking stupid but the rest of the movie was way better than I expected.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2005 Sorry, but pause, poor dialect, pause again and something outlandish=audience laughing their asses off is horrible script writing. Maybe the fight scenes were cool, but it had no flow to the movie. This movie had tons of potential, and it bombed, royaly. The director should not have tried and copied Quentin Tarrontino. Guest JMA Report post Posted October 18, 2005 I'll probably check out A History of Violence when it comes out on DVD. I've heard some really good things about it.
Krankor 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2005 1. The Fog (2005) $12.2M $12.2M Fog = Feces. That was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. What little plot it had seemed like it wasn't finished and was very poorly put together. This is without a doubt one of the worst "horror" movies I have seen in recent years. I'd watch an endless marathon of Boogeyman and Hide & Seek before paying to see that shit again. Shit. Waiting, while mindless was much more entertaining. Come on, you had to have laughed from "the goat".

Guest *KNK* Report post Posted October 19, 2005 Smallville has more fans than Firefly? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Considering Smallville ratings were more consistant and that Smallville is still on the air (I think), it's a pretty safe assumption to assume that Smallville does have a larger fanbase. Guest Reservoir_Kitty Report post Posted October 19, 2005 I saw Domino last night and I really enjoyed it. I liked the dirty, gritty look they had to the camera, and the story was actually pretty good. I was a bit apprehensive because it didn't seem to be getting very good reviews, but I came away from the theater pretty pleased that I'd seen it. I love movies that are choppy and flash back and forth, past to present. Christopher Walken = god. That is all. He's the only man on Earth that could make me laugh by uttering the lines "She changed the fucking font!"
Guest Evolution Report post Posted October 19, 2005 I'm a little gunshy about Domino because I don't think I could tolerate the 2-hour plus running time. The trailer just made it seem like one big long music video, and I don't think Walken would be enough. A History of Violence's sex scenes were weird, but otherwise I thought it was good stuff. Guest Reservoir_Kitty Report post Posted October 19, 2005 The runtime on Domino seems really huge, but if you're really into the movie (like I was) it barely seems like 2 hours. The only thing that distracted me was the overwhelming need to go to the bathroom and my unwillingness to go so I wouldn't miss something important. It's a movie where you kind of have to pay attention, a lot of the seemingly small details pop up again later in a sort of "Oh yeah" moment of clarity later on in the movie. If you could sit through a 3 hour movie like Lord of the Rings - assuming you watched them anyway - then I think Domino's completely doable. Plus...when is Walken not enough? That's about it. Oh and because seeing it will give you the urge to kill, here is the COMPLETE Fog film reduced into paragraph form. Enjoy!
RedJed 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 I cant believe there was someone else who liked the Fog other than me (referring to that person who wrote those spoilers). I guess I'm not the only crazy one!!
