Matt Young Posted October 20, 2005 Report Posted October 20, 2005 I'll just assign you replacement picks while your gone. Of course if it's more than one week you won't be eligible to win the contest...not that you had to worry about that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just out of curiosity, which teams are currently on probation? (Yes, I'm extremely bored.) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What are the terms of this probation? I understand that I'm on it for missing several weeks, but I had no internet connection, so I had no choice. It won't happen again. Can I still drink while on probation? Jee golly, I hope so.

It won't happen again. Can I still drink while on probation? Jee golly, I hope so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you don't submit picks more than one week out of the year you become ineligible to win the contest. The idea being that I want the winner of the contest to have participated the entire year especially since there is money at stake. If there is a lack of bowl eligible teams you still would have a shot of a bowl game if you finish with a winning record but those who played all year will get first crack.
Matt Young Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 There is money at stake? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that's news to me. But hey, I wasn't going to win anyway.
Carnival Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 currently I don't think i have a chance of winning either. That loss to Kotz when i was in the top 10 killed me. I still haven't fully recovered. Where does this $50 come from?
Matt Young Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Well, even though I won't be the one receiving the cash, your generosity is much appreciated. I thought we were only doing this for fun.
teke184 Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 14-3 Virginia Tech at the start of the 4th quarter. Just short of an explosive LSU vs. Arizona State style 4th quarter, it looks like the person choosing the low score will get the tiebreaker.

Cartman Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 Sorry i'm late, having flood/computer issues this week. Anyways: FRIDAY UAB SATURDAY Michigan State Virginia N.C. You see a new topic formed, "Bored Week __ ", you simply come in and post your picks... what's so hard about that? The guys who forget are usually the ones who SHOULDN'T forget... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What usually happens with me is that I'll tell myself to make my picks Thursday afternoon after I get home from work, then get tied up with something and forget about it completely until I see the game on ESPN that night.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 That's fine I can understand that. But Bored posts the thread like on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm sure most people involved in the contest goes in the Sports folder at least once during those two days. Why not then?
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 I usually wait till Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon to see if any unexpected injuries or pre-game changes arise. I almost forgot this week, but I've yet to miss a week ever.
iggymcfly Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 Knocked off number 1 baby! Despite my little setback last week, I'm still coming for the top spot. I guarantee that at the end of the season, I'll be the Bored Bowl champion.
CanadianChris Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Another dominating win this week. That should knock me right out of the top 10.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 This one's coming down to LSU/Auburn for me. Go Tigers.
iggymcfly Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 OK, I'm 12-1 in the contest this week, (with Auburn and LSU still to go), with the Michigan State/Northwestern game being my only loss. If I don't move back into the Top 5 this week, there's got to be something weird with the rankings. Even better, I'm 9-2 on my college football bets this week for a net of $350, only losing Sun Belt games that I had no business betting on (Troy State/FIU and North Texas/La. Tech. To quote Billy Madison, I AM THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE!

Bored Posted October 23, 2005 Author Report Posted October 23, 2005 This had the be the widest difference in correct picks all year with several great performances (three 13 out 14's) and several bad ones. I feel bad for teke as 9 out of 14 isn't bad but because of some huge weeks by a few in the contest they were leaped in correct pick % portion of the rankings and take a two spot drop overall. Same thing happend to AlwaysPissedOff. Speaking of which Secret Agent's huge week vaulted them to #2 in correct pick %. They are a sleeper in the contest as their 4-4 record is holding them back. Oh and iggy won't be whining about the rankings, for this week at least. By the slimmest of margins... 1. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly - 2.7 2. Miami - Spaceman Spiff - 2.8 3. Florida - Agent Bond34 - 4.0 4. Ohio State - Gert T - 5.1 5. Alabama - AlwaysPissedOff - 6.15 6. LSU - teke184 - 6.4 7. Syracuse - CanadianChris - 6.8 8. Texas A&M - Secret Agent - 7.2 9. Maryland - MarvinisaLunatic - 9.35 10. South Carolina - Cuban Linx - 10.25
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Am I the worst 4-4 team there is in your contest? Seems I always win by 1 game or lose by 1 game.
Bored Posted October 23, 2005 Author Report Posted October 23, 2005 You're not a strong 4-4 but you're not a weak one either. Vern Gagne and DragonLordKaiba are the weakest at 4-4. There's still a lot of room for movement in the contest. The difference between #2 in correct picks and #7 is only two games. #8 is three games.
teke184 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Jesus... At this rate, I'll win out the rest of the year, go to a bowl game, and fall out of the Top 10 all at the same time.
Art Sandusky Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Did APO win our game by virtue of not being late and giving a tiebreaker for the Thursday game, or what? I'm cool with it, just wondering how.
teke184 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 He won 9-7, so it looks like it was mainly that he picked V-Tech on Thursday and picked one more game correctly than you did on the other differences you had.
