Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I am tired of watching a penalty being called on every other play. It drives me nuts when they call roughing the passer. The only time this is legit should be a helmet to helmet or if way after the play. It slows the game down and year after year the average number of penalties called in a game is higher every year. Just let them play.
BruiserKC Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I've noticed that ever since the Ravens-Giants Super Bowl in 2000 they've gone out of their way to make it all about offense. Apparently they were embarrassed to see a team do it with strictly defense for the most part (granted they had a good running back in Jamal Lewis but he hadn't blown up to be a franchise RB back then. ) It's always been about the running and defense really that really makes a champion in the NFL. "Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships." At least we can take consolation in January that remains the same no matter who ends up playing.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Well, this is a point that I've made over and over this season.. I can't believe how many fucking penalties have been called this season, just in general. I don't believe it's that every team has become suddenly that undisciplined, but there really has been just some seriously awful officiating this year. Too many penalties, bad calls being or not being overturned, it makes it almost feel like some games have been fixed it's so bad.
Guest *KNK* Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Don't we have this arguement every year?
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Not so sure, but I've never seen it be as bad as it is this year. When you have different teams (doesn't matter what their record is) coming close to the NFL record for penalties in a game every week, then it's getting just way out of hand.
Guest *KNK* Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 On the other side of the coin, you have to argue that players are just not as disciplined as they should be.
Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 The NFL is too worried about players getting hurt and it is taking away from the game. The only team that deserves this many penalties is the Raiders, there thugs.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 ... or maybe perhaps referees are calling more ticky-tack fouls than they were before. There've been way too many games or crucial plays decided by officiating, and not by the players. That isn't the way that football should be played. Save the bullshit fouls for basketball, this is a fucking contact sport, for christ's sake.
The Czech Republic Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 the Raiders, there thugs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Randy Moss may be a thug but I bet he knows his their-there-they're
Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Wow.....thanks for clearing that up.
The Czech Republic Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 He's new to the whole Czech Republic thing.
Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 yeah.... The Czech Repulic thing is taking over the nation. You rock
NoCalMike Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Speaking of this topic. Skins got screwed today as Marcus Washington jumped in the air to tip a Trent Green pass and when he came down the force of GRAVITY made his hand pitty pat Green's Helmet, *whistle* 15 yard penalty.........BULLSHIT.
The Czech Republic Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 Over in baseball, the LCSs have been marred by shitty calls, screwing the Angels out of a win and a bullshit strike call against Edmonds.
Guest Finch Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 How can you toss Edmonds? That is BS. Tavarez has some wheels
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 You don't need to tell a Ravens fan. 32 penalties in the last 2 weeks, about half of them (mostly last week) were bs calls.
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Don't need to tell a Packers fan, either. 3 incredibly bad calls led to their first three losses of the season. And of course the shitload of penalties they've had (most of which were warranted, but many of which weren't as well).
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 SNF has had 6 penalties in the first 7 plays. And the stat they had was 15.8 penalties per game this season, highest since 1949.
Precious Roy Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 18 in the NE/Denver game.... I'd thought there'd been more penalties than usual as well, and just generally poor officiating, glad I'm not the only one noticing
Guest Vitamin X Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Maybe the refs SHOULD go on strike... fuckers..
Guest Finch Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 They can take the umps from the LCS with them, they all suck!
reign Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Wow.....thanks for clearing that up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Welcome to TSM my friend....
JustJoe2k5 Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Maybe it's the officials' contract years, they have to get as much playing-time as possible to insure their roster spots.
