Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Well lady and gentlemen, it's about time for the annual Toys R Us buy 2 get 1 free sale. The sale applies only to PS2, Xbox, and GameCube games. Unfortunately, PSP, DS, and GBA games (and I wanted quite a few DS and GBA games) are not included. Basically, you buy 2 games, and get1 game of equal or lesser value free. Buy 2 $50 games, get a $50 game free. Buy 2 Platinum Hits/Greatest Hits games at $20 a pop, get a $20 game free. Simple enough, eh? I know some people here are aware of the sale, but I wanted to let everyone else know. This is a great chance to catch up on titles you've missed outon over the past year, and to save big on some of the stellar recent releases. If only they did this at the end of November... but hey, I can think of at least 6 games I want just for the Xbox right now. I hope you all are able to take advantage of this and find what you are looking for. Good luck!
teke184 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 Hrm. I think I need to buy The Warriors, Blitz: The League, and X-Men Legends 2...

Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 I'm planning to purchase Blitz: The League, Burnout Revenge, X-Men Legends II, NBA 2K2, and Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, all for Xbox, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance for the Cube.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Well, I know where I'm spending the birthday money this year. I was going to get the new MST3K DVD set, but that can wait until Christmas. I plan to go Monday, but I just hope the damn place isn't cleaned out by then.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Ah, 6 more hours til they open. I cannot sleep! I'll end up playing X-Men Legends and Burnout 3 to pass the time, and I need to complete those anyway since I'm buying the sequels, hehe. P.S. Happy belated birthday, PK. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Picked up THE WARRIORS (*amazing* game), NHL 2006, and Legends 2...good stuff.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 The Warriors... I heard nothing about the game and have never seen the movie, but I was interested since Rockstar always puts out quality games and I heart beat-em-ups. Turns out the game is only 12 hours, so even though I hear it's good, I'll likely only rent it for now. Anyway, I'm headed to TRU soon.

teke184 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Just got back... I picked up the following for $247 and change: Blitz: The League (Xbox) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Were you as disappointed with this one as I was? I'm finding it very hard to make dirty hits and do other things to build up power. PS- That "Simon Says" shit for the kicks sucks.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 I was at first, but my opinion has changed. I just made a thread about the game, actually.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 I stopped by today and picked up Marvel Nemisis, X-men Legends II and Hulk Ultimate Destruction. I was going between Warriors and Hulk, but just decided to make it an all comic game day.
Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Will the Xbox360 be backwards compatible with the current Xbox releases, or not? I want to take advantage of the sale, but I don't have an Xbox, and I'm thinking of trading in my PS2 when the 360 launches.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 What happened to your Xbox? We still don't know if the 360 will be compatible. It's only been said that it's compatible with "top selling titles". Halo 2 is a given, but who knows what else. Also, you need the model with the hard drive even for that. And to LLGC, I was going to get Marvel Nemesis, but from all the reviews I've read, it's a horrible game. Please let me know if you disagree with those reviewers. Maybe I should rent it, at least. Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Never had an Xbox. I was using my housemates' consoles, which we had two of.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Ah, I see. I was wondering how you managed to humiliate me in halo 2 without owning an Xbox. Seriously, you're amazing at that game.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Although it didn't have the game I really wanted (Mercenaries), I picked up Up Your Arsenal, The Sims: Bustin' Out and Capcom Classics Collection (which won out over the Sonic collection and Hot Shots Golf Fore!) Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 Dammit, Blitz and Warriors are at 2 different price points. Gotta figure out some way to make it work...
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2005 If Warriors is at $50 and Blitz is at$40, you can either buy another $50 game or another $40 game. Either one works.

LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 And to LLGC, I was going to get Marvel Nemesis, but from all the reviews I've read, it's a horrible game. Please let me know if you disagree with those reviewers. Maybe I should rent it, at least. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I've only had a little bit of opportunity to play so far, but it's been alright what I've played. You can do versus, so basically Street Fighter, or the story mode. Only 6 characters are available until you start doing the story. I played like the first part of the story. You start as one character, then can continue on their next stage or go to one other person they open up a story of as you are closing your first stage. In those stages, thus far, it's just a smash em up. In short, I enjoy it so far, however I tend not to be extremely picky on my games if it's about something I like, but I'd definately say at least rent worthy, even if it only ends up just seeing for yourself. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 Sounds like it's similar to X-Men Legends, but without the RPG elements. If that's the case, I'll definitely rent it.
Anya 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2005 I ended up getting Shadow of the Colusus, Area 51 and Shaolin Monks for Xbox since they were out of MOH European Assault. I really don't want to play SM any more for a while but I needed to get it for Xbox eventually and it was free..... I was so close to getting Urban Reign. Tekken characters + beat em up is so tempting.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2005 Well, the Toys R Us in my area was pretty bare by the time I got there this evening, but I managed to pick up Blitz, The Warriors, and the PS2 version of Resident Evil 4. Messed around with each of them. Warriors seems pretty good, but the camera has a tendency to "whoosh" around the character you're controlling, making it a bit tough to look around some times. Atmosphere is great, voice acting is real good, and the superfluous cursing always gets approval from me. Blitz is what it is: a visceral take no prisoners football game. The brawls piss me off, since the computer kicks your ass unless you're REAL lucky. And Ron Mexico REALLY wants me to put my fist through the screen. Bitch just rolls out and keeps hitting 10-12 yard passes all day long. Only played RE4 for a few minutes. Mainly got it to see what they threw in for the PS2 release. The aiming seems to be a bit stiffer and less forgiving than in the GC release. And, that'll be it until the 360 comes out.
