therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 It looks like for law school next year I'll be going to either Widener in Delaware or Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Anyone live in either of these two places and can give me some advice on what's some cheap housing, fun stuff to do, etc.? Go ahead and add the Pittsburgh area of PA as well because I have a shot at Duquesne too...
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Shittsburgh's been covered, sorta. Good luck with Duquesne. Should let you know that they're an EVIIIIIL Jesus school though. When I was in college, I attended this faggy liberal arts school (Point-less Park University) and there was talk of some hippie partnership between the two. I swear to Christ the people here thought Ralph Reed was going to storm in with a SWAT team and take away any guy wearing a pink bracelet or something. If you have any other questions about Shittsburgh, let me know. Do you plan on living in dorms or in a real place? And how far would you be willing to drive if you are doing the latter?... Boon 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 If you're coming to Massachusetts, I would just suggest that you spend as much free time as you can in the city. That's really the only place where anything entertaining happens.

I'm Catholic, so Duquesne being a Catholic school doesn't bother me much.

Springfield's in the ass end of nowhere ... not a whole lot to do around there.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Go to Delaware. Unless you live in eastern MA, don't expect anything remotely referred to as "civilization."
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 If you are going to law school you will be studying so much that night life is not that big of a deal. My dad owns a law firm in Cincy, my sister just graduated from law school, and I am going to law school next year, trust me, law school can be a bitch. What did you get on your LSAT? I was happy with a 163.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Well.....Delaware ain't exactly Funtown USA either. If you go to Boston, be prepared to have to take a life to be able to get a parking space in the city from what I hear.

I know for a fact that Duquesne takes the higher of 2 LSATs, so I'm retaking and hoping to pull a 157-158. The GPA is strong enough (3.6), so I just need to do a little better on the goddamn test. Worst-case scenario is I go to a lower-ranked school, kick ass the first semester and transfer into a higher-ranked one...
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Widener is in the wrong end of Delaware (Im 5 minutes from Delaware to the south, and Widener is up at the north end in Wilmington). My view of Delaware thus is skewed because southern Delaware is nothing like the area around Wilmington.
BigPoppaKev 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Being a masshole myself I strongly suggest to avoid Springfield. Believe me you don't want t be in that shithole of a city. Even Worcester is better than Springfield. Going to school in Boston I would say is your best bet. It's a great city to live in and also appeals well to college students with so many colleges in the area.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Widener is in the wrong end of Delaware<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, it would only take 10 minutes for him to get to the right end of Delaware...

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Yeah, Wilmington isn't exactly safeville. In fact, most of the city looks like a big ass slum. Still, in the summer you can invade good old southern Delaware for the beaches and hot ass vacation girls. Northern Delaware has stuff to do in the winter while Southern Delaware basically closes shop.

If you go to Boston, be prepared to have to take a life to be able to get a parking space in the city from what I hear. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not as hard to find a spot as people claim ... it's not much worse than Chicago, NYC or Philly ... you've just got to know where to look. Well, I think every Masshole that's read this thread has replied with the same "SPRINGFIELD SUCKS" sentiments... It's funny, I was waiting for SOMEONE to post a "it's not that bad" argument. I really don't think one is coming.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 Widener is in the wrong end of Delaware<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, it would only take 10 minutes for him to get to the right end of Delaware... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It takes me an hour and 45 minutes just to make it halfway through Delaware, which is roughly Dover. Northern Delaware has stuff to do in the winter while Southern Delaware basically closes shop. I love the Slot machines in Harrington. I usually do that at least once every other month or as long as it takes me to save about $50 worth of quarters.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 I consider Dover and Harrington to still be Northern Delaware. It has a mall, southern Delaware gots shit in the winter. Place dies.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2005 The only positive I can see for Springfield is that it isn't Weymouth. Weymouth just eats balls, man. I have to deliveries to Weymouth for work regularly, and man...I couldn't imagine living there. It's not, like, Blackstone or Woonie (Woonsocket, RI for you non-Massholes, or at least the Massholes that aren't from SE MA), but...it's close to being Framingham. A lot of businesses, but nothing else, really. It's what Framingham would be like if it were filled with honkies instead of Brazilians, really.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2005 Widener is coming down to my neck of the woods for a football game vs Salisbury University tomorrow. hmm. But in the winter, Northern Delaware kicks our ass all over the place. Summertime I fucking LOVE lower DE. Winter...not so much. Summer- kick ass rock concerts, Bottle and Cork, beach babes, the Cork, the boardwalk, the Cork, fishing, did I mention the Cork? Winter-.....umm.....movies..... 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2005 What the fuck is the Cork <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bar/Club in Dewey Beach. Basically inside an old garage but very enjoyable. Plus any place that brings in Vanilla Ice for five bucks so I can laugh wins my votes. That and the Baycenter are the two main summer concert venues and have been getting some damn big acts more and more each year.
