ROH 11/4 Detroit Results

Recommended Posts

BJ Whitmer def. Delirious w/ a Wrist Clutch Exploder

Davey Andrews def. Shane Hagadorn & Derrick Dempsey to win the top of the class trophy after Dempsey tapped to a modified adominal stretch.

Nigel McGuinness def. Claudio Castagnoli by tossing Claudio the iron and playing dead like Eddie Guerruro and Sinclair DQing Claudio. Crowd chanted BS loudly.

Roderick Strong & Jack Evans def. Sal Rinauro $ Chad Collyer w/ a Phoenix Splash Skipping a Generation on Rinauro

Christopher Daniels def. Samoa Joe, Scrap Iron Adam Pearce, and Jimmy Jacobs in a four corner survival match w/ the Angels Wings on Joe. Cornette came out after Cabana and Homicide killed each other and put Pearce and Jacobs in.

Daizee Haze def. Allison Danger for the after intermission match.

Austin Aries def. Alex Shelley w/ a rollup. Post-match Rave, Abyss, Shelley, and Nana beat on Aries until Sydal, Styles, and Haze run down. Shelley and Aries brawled to the back.

AJ Styles & Matt Sydal def. Jimmy Rave & Abyss w/ a Moonsault Belly to Belly on Rave by Sydal. Rave is covered pre-match by toilet paper. Someone screwed up and hit AJ, who took it and creamed the guy with it.

Bryan Danielson def. Chris Sabin w/ a Stronghold. Danielson kept doing backbreakers and calling himself the Messiah of the Backbreaker.

The Phoenix Generation Gap was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on this planet.

My favorite part of the whole night was seeing BJ Whitmer raid the concession stand and walking away with like 5 hotdogs.

I wanted to go to this show, but a burtal combination of me forgetting when it was, having to work because I forgot when it was and didn't ask for the night off, not being totally sure where it was being held, and having no way to get there if I were to get directions kinda ruined the chance. What was the Detroit crowd like?

I just got back from the show like forty minutes ago, had to leave before the main event. It was quite the show. Bj Whitmer maid like two concession stand appearances. Whitmer, Aries, A referee, and Daniels signed autographs for some little kids before the show started which was cool.

Edit: As for the show, everything was solid. The crowd was strong but not necessarily rabid. There were a few slips on the second rope, which made me wonder if there was something wrong with it. And the generation gap phoenix was awesome...The girl I brought now has a crush on Jimmy Jacobs and Jack Evans....

I haven't seen it confirmed but according to a post elsewhere the Danielson/Sabin main event went nearly 40 minutes. Should be interesting as i don't think i've ever seen a Chris Sabin match even half that long, but i suppose if anyone could make it work it would be Bryan Danielson.

That sounds like the fake results that were posted and were always stated as being fake on the RoH board. I thought they were legit too until I read the posts under them/the part where the attendance was listed as 40,000.

How was Sabin/Dragon? While I like giving the hometown guy the title shot, it didn't make any sense since he's never there anymore.

It was a pretty good match. Sabin would try to hit his high impact moves(Arm and Capture Pile Driver, Cradle Shock, etc.) but Danielson would be a total dick and shut him down with lots of back work. Danielson was calling out Rod Strong big time when he gave Sabin a ton of backbreakers.

The idea is that Danielson issued open challenge contracts to anyone from other promotions to challenge him for the title, giving him that old-school champion aura.

They should use that as a means to bring in talent that hasn't been in Ring of Honor before, not talent that was curtain-jerking for a few months. I like Chris Sabin, but he will never be Ring of Honor Champion and shouldn't be challenging for it.

That's the point. No one from this whole deal is necessarily going to even be in line for a full time gig in ROH. Just like in the territory days, the local hero has little to no chance on the grand scale against the man who is truly at the top of the mountain. The important thing is that the local audience, the paying fans, have faith in their local man who, to them, is at the top of the figurative foothill.

Granted, now that everything is (inter)national with the speed of the spread of information, the gimmick doesn't really work.
