teke184 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 #1 is up for grabs now! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think so... I think I only took 2 of 5 from APO, as Maryland beat North Carolina, Virginia beat Georgia Tech, and Western Michigan beat Central Michigan. Never mind, thought Bama was #1. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Western Michigan and UCF came through! Thank me later, #2-10.
Guest Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Iowa State, please pull through. I'd like it if I wasn't at .500 anymore.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I'm going to be very interested to see how the picks for/against shake out. Any one of the teams ranked 2-5 could be #1 right now.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Iggy could actually stay in first too. I remember last year I lost a couple games while I was in #1, and still held on because I had a big enough lead in the picks-made category.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Bored said it was really close this year, though.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Got Western Michigan and LSU correct, now i just need 1 of Georgia and Oregon State to win and i should get a nice jump in the rankings, or at least close in on the frontrunners. EDIT: So naturally they both lose, giving me the loss via tiebreaker.

Bored 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Milestone Moment: First match-up decided by tiebreak #2. Agent Bond34 and Cuban Linx were late with their picks this week so tiebreak #1 didn't apply. Kenny Irons rushed for 181 yards, Agent guessed 167, Cuban 166, thus Agent wins. teke184 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Apparently I can take solace in the fact that my 8 correct choices this week, while not enough to win my game, still help bolster my Top 10 ranking because Agent Bond, Iggy McFly, Spaceman Spiff, and other top contenders did worse. teke184 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Win 1 more and you're bowl-eligible. Also, considering that Illinois is on probation, you're also in line to play in the Big MAC Title Game against Penn State.

Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 4 in a row for me. I doubt it will be enough to get me into the Top Ten, but at least I locked up the regular season conference title and gained a spot in Conference Championship. Now, I just need one more win to become bowl eligible. Yippee!
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Another week, another change at the top but I don't think everyone will be thrilled as there were no big jumps or drops this week (a lot of 7 and 8's this week) but it is so razor thin close still. Currently the Top 6 in correct pick % are three correct picks apart. Bored Championship Series Top 10 thru Week 11 1. Miami - Spaceman Spiff 2.8 2. Georgia Tech - iggymcfly 3.2 3. teke184 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Bored, Could you please start listing the tie-breakers on the Conference Championship Games? I know I still have one game left in conference, as do Cuban Lynx and Secret Agent, but I'm unsure if the tiebreaker is by head-to-head wins, BCS score, etc.
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Keep your pants on, that's what I'm gong to do next but I have to go look back at the head-to-head results to figure it out.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Damn, two measly yards is the difference between me being 8-3 and outright second in the conference, and now being 5th and dropping out of the top 10 rankings altogether.
Bored 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Conference Title Game Tiebreaks Head-to-head match-up results are the primary tiebreak. Three or four-way ties, if not decided by head-to-head (i.e. everyone won or lost to the other) would be decided first by overall record and then by BCS ranking. This is not a complete list as you'll see as I just don't have the interest in the headache I'll get from going through every possible scenerio. Pac-8 I'm only going to focus on the three teams tied for 2nd at the moment as there are just too many tie possibilities left. Techincally everyone in the conference might still have a shot. -Hawaii has clinched a spot in the title game. -If Arizona State & Stanford tie, Stanford advances -If Arizona State & Oregon tie, Arizona State advances -If Stanford & Oregon tie, Oregon advances Big MAC There is a potential four a four-way tie between Penn State, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Kent State but I'll cross that bridge if we get there. -Illinois is not eligible -Penn State and Northwestern will advance if they win next week. Mid South Like the Pac-8 I'm only focusing on the three tied at 2nd. Florida appears to be out of it but there's a potential for a five-way tie so I can't say for certain. -Alabama has clinched a spot in the title game. -If Texas A&M wins next week, they advance as they beat both Florida & LSU. -If LSU wins and Texas A&M loses next week, they advance. Big Atlantic -Virginia controls their own destiny, after that I'm too lazy to look into it.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Hey, I didn't know we could do bullet points. But Iggy is Georgia Tech--that was this week's match-up. I must be playing someone else along the way.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Figures I'd miss that. Back to the drawing board... EDIT: Here's the Big Atlantic playoff scenario... Four important conference games remain: Georgia Tech vs. Rutgers, Connecticut vs. Virginia, Miami vs. Virginia, and Miami vs. Troy. Already in conference: Georgia Tech holds wins over Syracuse and Miami, Virginia holds a win over Georgia Tech, and Syracuse holds wins over Miami and Virginia. The championship game will be... Virginia vs. Georgia Tech if Virginia wins out and Georgia Tech d. Rutgers. Virginia vs. Syracuse if Virginia d. Miami and Rutgers d. Georgia Tech, or if Virginia d. UConn, Rutgers d. Georgia Tech, Miami d. Virginia and Troy d. Miami. Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse if UConn d. Virginia and Georgia Tech d. Rutgers, or if Virginia d. UConn, Georgia Tech d. Rutgers, Miami d. Virginia and Troy d. Miami. Miami vs. Syracuse if Miami wins out and Rutgers d. Georgia Tech. There are two interesting cases... If UConn d. Virginia, Rutgers d. Goergia Tech, Miami d. Virginia and Troy d. Miami, then Syracuse is in the championship game, and will play Miami if Georgia Tech loses their remaining nonconference game, or whichever of Miami or Georgia Tech is ranked higher in the BCS otherwise. If Virginia d. UConn, Georgia Tech d. Rutgers, Miami d. Virginia and Miami d. Troy, there would be a 4-way tie at 6-2, with no team going 3-0 against the other three. In this case...well, let's not think about it. The only thing for sure is that Syracuse is in the championship game if they win out under this scenario. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 OK, just defeat (3-8) Rutgers and I'm in. I like that. Of course, I have to make sure that my picks are good, as my ultimate goal, (winning the Bored Bowl), is a little more precarious.
