Bored 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 For those of us on the West Coast we will not get Ohio State/Michigan and instead we'll get Cal/Stanford. That will probably piss off quite a few people but I'm one happy mother fucker as Keith Jackson is calling The Big Game. Actually blame ABC for showing a golf tournament (in November!?) during the usual regional slot. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 Best week of the year. Ohio St.-Michigan imo is the best rivalry. Good thing both teams are playing well. It's likely going to be for a trip to the Citrus Bowl. Though Ohio St. could sneak into a BCS bowl. Bill Snyder is set to retire at Kansas State. espn.com
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 I'm putting together a breakfast tailgate to get started at around 8:30 am for UVA/VT. This is the first noon home game in about two years, so we're doing it big. I'm happy that I'll get to catch the end of Michigan/Ohio State and most of the Iron Bowl afterwards. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 Nobody has mentioned it yet but it looks like Bill Snyder has retired. I'm hearing around here that Brent Venables(OU's defensive co.) is first in line.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 The room, it's spin... Okay, I kid. But really, I'm torn as to whether I'll miss Snyder. I mean, he certainly took a nothing program and built it up bigtime, but he was also a "never got the job done" coach, and with a good successor, he could become the second coming of John Cooper
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 What would you think about Venables Slayer? I mean he has ties to KSU and he coached their. And he usually fields a good linebacking and d-line corp at OU with great speed. I mean he is the D-coordinator but the secondary(the part that sucks) isn't his job. So what would you think about him showing up? Of course lately coaches have been doing the exact opposite of what they're heralded for. I mean Stoops and Carrol are defensive guys and they field monster offenses while Mangino is an offense guy and they field a good defense. Get ready for the days of the KSU 50 point wins Slayer! Guest Smues Report post Posted November 15, 2005 This year's Applecup has the potential to be the worst ever. I'm excited.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 Looking up his name, I see he's been at OU since 1998, so he's essentially been a main factor in their return to power (along with Stoops). I could get behind hiring him. Hell, I'll be happy so long as they don't do something stupid like Nebraska did with Beau Bridges.

Guest Report post Posted November 16, 2005 No Ohio St-Michigan? That's fucking shit.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 I'd heard that the reason for pre-empting the OSU-Michigan game on the West Coast is because there's supposedly an FCC regulation restricting how many hours of Sat morning kids TV you can preempt Who comes up with this shit? Guest Report post Posted November 16, 2005 I'm gonna have to go around with my dad, who is a huge Ohio State fan and find somewhere to watch this game. If I can't, it would be the first time I've ever missed this game.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 Want a piece of us, Kentucky? WHUT. Yo, that win over Vanderbilt scares me. If we can't beat Kentucky, we're seriously lost. Please let the Norm Chow rumors be true. In the Cock 'n Tiger game, it's a tough one. Last time Clemson went to Columbia it was a 63-17 romp that had the better-off half the state gloating. Last year kinda doesn't count to people 'round here. We avoid talking about it. I'm excited to see Tommy Bowden face off against Spurrier to see if Bowden's got the chops to be in the elite coaches category some day. I'd love to see him win, but I'm torn on if they can. But since you gotta take a side in this if you're born in South Carolina, fuck Carolina. Go Clemson. I've always at least respected Clemson. But fuck a barrel o'Carolina, especially now that Fucker McFuckstick is coaching there. I pledge all my fan efforts to Clemson until the end of the game, at which point I'll go on to simply hating Carolina and having Clemson as my 6th favorite. Ohio State beats Michigan, and I think Virginia can beat VT. Alabama beats Auburn and goes to a BCS bowl.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 PSU's in the BCS if they win the Land Grant Bowl. I would be surprised if Michigan St. doesn't give them a game at home, but I think PSU pulls it out. OSU beats Michigan easily IMO and Auburn takes down Alabama in the two big games of the weekend. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 Either Michigan State will give PSU a game or PSU will end up winning by 4 touchdowns. I'm going to say that PSU jumps out to an early lead and MSU packs it in. I really don't get CFN's reasoning about an upset, considering Michigan State has been completely dead the past few weeks, getting killed by Minnesota and losing to a bad Purdue team, along with PSU coming off the bye week. Guess they feel committed to it. I can see them playing the best they've played in weeks since this is a high-ranked opponent and for a bowl bid, but they're still going down pretty hard. I really don't get CFN's reasoning about an upset, considering Michigan State has been completely dead the past few weeks, getting killed by Minnesota and losing to a bad Purdue team, along with PSU coming off the bye week. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They like to stay with trends, and the trend is that the home team kills the away team in the series the past few years. Penn State obviously has a lot to play for, but this should be a desparate Michigan State team that needs to win to go to a bowl.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2005 But, its Michigan State..... they have such an inferiority complex about Michigan that it wouldn't suprise me if they said bowl be damned and just got throttled like 78-3....or they could pull an MSU and win like 45-44 on some wacky play. If the team that should have beat Michigan and beat a really good Notre Dame team shows up, they should have a good chance of pulling the upset. They just havent been the same team since they fucked up the OSU game.....by the way Ohio State is going down in the big house 20-

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2005 The rumor now going around is that the Fiesta Bowl is in love with a possible Notre Dame-Alabama matchup if Bama can win on Saturday. That would be quite a good matchup if the Fiesta Bowl can't get Penn State to play Notre Dame instead...
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 Yesssssssss. I want that or Miami/Alabama. How many times have Notre Dame and Alabama played each other?
Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 That was the best sideline interview of the year, no doubt. Probably one of the best ever. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2005 Yesssssssss. I want that or Miami/Alabama. How many times have Notre Dame and Alabama played each other? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I believe they met twice in the mid-70s when they played each other in the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl, and played a home-and-home series in the late-70s and the 80s. I know for a fact that Notre Dame and Auburn have never played each other.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 It's the Sooners and Red Raiders today. Apparently everyone in Lubbock is going on about how OU is going to crush Tech and all the people in Norman are strutting around saying "we got this one in the bag." I really don't see where the confidence is coming from. I think Tech wins comfortably.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 If Michigan ends up winning the Big Ten title today, after that BS time snafu in the Penn State game, I think I'm going to be physically ill.
