The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 Yeah, Killzone 2 is a complete first party venture - Sony Computer Entertainment is publishing and Guerrilla Games (the development studio), is a Sony subsidiary. Unless SCE sinks into the sea like Atlantis, I don't see Killzone 2 being released on a non-Sony platform any time soon.

In Credible 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 The Darkness is pretty badass, great voice acting, graphics, and the gameplay is a blast. I've heard the multiplayer isnt very good, but the single player is fantastic.
Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Strangely, I've just got The Darkness recently too (well my housemate did and I knicked it from him), and I'm enjoying it so far. Gory as hell though. -- Also, there's a Resident Evil 5 trailer on live.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 PR: Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Moves to $179, Adds Five Free HD DVDs Xbox LIVE to promote HD DVD versions of "300" and "Heroes: Season 1." SAN DIEGO — July 26, 2007 — Today at Comic-Con International 2007, Microsoft Corp. announced it will lower the price of the popular Xbox 360™ HD DVD Player from $199 to $179 ERP (United States only) starting Aug. 1, 2007, and will add five free HD DVD movies for anyone purchasing an Xbox 360 HD DVD Player between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30. In addition, Microsoft further solidified the Xbox 360 as the ultimate high-definition (HD) entertainment platform, with key announcements around the HD DVD launches of “300” from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and “Heroes: Season 1” from Universal Studios. To promote the HD DVD versions of “300” and “Heroes: Season 1,” Microsoft unveiled exclusive content for Xbox LIVE® Marketplace. Xbox LIVE will offer “300” on demand in HD starting Aug. 14, and is working with Warner Bros. at Comic-Con on a Bringing It Home campaign featuring “300” and other Warner Bros. properties. In advance of the street date for the “Heroes: Season 1” HD DVD boxed set, Xbox LIVE members will be able to download for free the show’s pilot episode in high definition for a limited time. Members will also be able to download trailers, teaser scenes and other promotional materials highlighting the “Heroes: Season 1” boxed set on HD DVD. Already the most affordable high-definition player available, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player is the best solution for movie lovers seeking HD content in the highest possible resolution. The player’s price reduction to $179 (U.S. ERP) continues to set the bar for value, making the Xbox 360 platform the most affordable solution for consumers seeking the broadest, most compelling selection of next-generation gaming and HD video experiences. “With the price reduction to $179, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player continues to be the most affordable way to enjoy high definition,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of Global Marketing, Interactive Entertainment Business, Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “From the beginning, we set out to offer Xbox 360 owners an unrivaled high-definition experience, with a choice of optical discs on the HD DVD format and digital downloads through Xbox LIVE Marketplace — both of which have a selection of the best content Hollywood has to offer. Today’s announcements around ‘300’ and ‘Heroes: Season 1’ are great examples of how we believe HD content can be offered to consumers.” In addition to the price drop, Microsoft is extending Toshiba’s highly successful “Perfect Offer” of five free HD DVD discs to Xbox 360 consumers. Previously exclusive to Toshiba HD DVD Players, with the purchase of an Xbox 360 HD DVD Player at the new low price of $179 ERP, consumers can choose five HD DVD titles for free from a selection of 15 popular titles through a mail-in offer. With a retail value of over $140 (U.S.), this promotion makes the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player one of the most compelling offerings for consumers looking to make the leap into HD this holiday season. The selection kind of sucks, but they're free, and I planned to buy the HD-DVD player soon for Heroes Season 1, so a price drop and free movies is pretty nice. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Hasn't HD-DVD been declared dead? No, not at all. Heroes season 1 is being released exclusively on HD DVD August 28th.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Exception, not the rule. Blu-Ray is pretty much destroying HD-DVD,
Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2007 Yeah I thought that was the case, seems odd to limit yourself to just one Format, when that format has pretty much been defeated in most retailers eyes.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 It seems to me most consumers really didn't feel they needed either, but the ones who bought PS3s figured, "may as well." 360 owners had games to play on their system...at least when it was working.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 Its live where you can download stuff, buy stuff, but you can't play games online. And you have to wait like a week later to download demos. And its free. So...yeah
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 EDIT: beaten by Ripper. You should get a trial version of Live Gold though, just by connecting up and setting up a gamertag. You'll get a "free offer" for it, and they'll hope once you try it out and you'll be hooked and pay.

World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 I played it for a while and then stopped. It was really tedious and uneventful a lot of the time. The control wasn't very good either. It wasn't terrible or anything, but it's a "just kind of there" game.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 From my own experience cheapassgamer is reliable. Although I think that most of the 360s they'll be selling are broke, so if you're a fence sitter KEEP WAITING.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 Yes, it's reliable, and they have scans of the ads.
Nate 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 Yes, it's reliable, and they have scans of the ads. i cant figure out though how someone could have a scan of an Ad that wont be out for a couple weeks and Andrew, i wouldnt say that necessarily, as long as 360 has been out they have never done a price drop up until now it seems, or possibly they are lowering the prices to clear out the Pro and Core sets to leave the Elite as the main
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 They almost always have scans of store ads, or at least list the contents, a week or two in advance. There are employees from many stores who share info there.

There are employees from many stores who share info there. ah ok that makes sense now, i do have a question though, i use my computer quite a bit and will probably be on 360 as well, and i will get a router of some sort when i get the 360, what brand of router should i get, and does it plug into the wall because i use DSL for my internet connection
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2007 and Andrew, i wouldnt say that necessarily, as long as 360 has been out they have never done a price drop up until now it seems, or possibly they are lowering the prices to clear out the Pro and Core sets to leave the Elite as the main 360 360 sales have been stagnant for months, however. They *need* to clear the broken 360s out. As far as I know, nobody has been able to pluck a 360 off the shelf and confirm the improvements are in place. Meaning those 360s sitting on shelves are the broken 360s. They haven't issued a recall, now have they? I don't think the Elite is going to become the "main 360." Core is there to stay; plus they probably see it as their best bet to stay competitive price-wise with the Wii. They likely will start adding HDMI to Premiums, and begin bundling 120 GBs when it's flat-out cheaper to make them in bulk than the 20GBs.

It worked fine. If you go on their website, they sometimes say if it is X-Box Live compatible. Also, I think the Xbox site has compatible routers' listed by manufacturer.
