The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 If Neighborhood 3 was a single, you're wrong btw, the album really isn't THAT good.

The Man in Blak 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 It's good enough to be nominated for a Grammy! When your choices for favorite song lie between "Gold Digger" and that "Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend was HOT - like - me" song, I think it's safe to say that it was a slow year. And am I the only one who felt like the indie music scene was absolute shit this year? It might have been your year if you were Swedish or if you had a real hankering for folk-ish stuff (I will admit - I dug Illinois this year), but the rest of the crop came off like flat soda to me; hints of better flavors ahead but - ultimately - a lack of fizz and refreshment. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 It's pretty fucking good. Neighborhoods Nos. 1, 2, 3, I liked. Crown of Love grew on me, much like a tumor would grow on me. The coda of Une Annee Sans Lumiere makes me feel happy inside. The two tracks Regine sings on are awful, because she sings. Wake Up, 4, and Rebellion are average. After several listens, I changed my Arcade Fire tune slightly, but still, it's not THAT great.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2005 Agreed on Regine being a terrible singer.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 She's decent on "Haiti", not so much on "In the Back Seat". I feel the exact opposite way. Yeah. Of course, her voice is the only thing I really like about them to start with.
Mole 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 The Killers-Mr. Brightside and All The Things That I Have Done I can't count these because the Killers released the album with these songs on in 2004. I was listening to them in 2004, so they are 04 singles to me. I'm gonna go with "Diamonds" without Jay. But if you count "Mr. Brightside" because it was "released" in 05 then it gets my vote. Song never gets old. 2005 was pretty bad with music. Way tooo much Emo.
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted December 20, 2005 What about Paul McCartney's Jenny Wren? It's got a nice, simple melody, touching lyrics, and an atmosphere to die for.
Jorge Gorgeous 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2005 "Gold Digger" by Kanye West featuring Jamie Foxx <{POST_SNAPBACK}> God, no, that's a horrid song. Doesn't he rhyme "money" with "money," and then rhyme that with "money"? Then it does some stupid reverb. And the WE WANT PRE-NUP YEEEAH-UH~! thing just made me hang my head and go "oh, no." And "go on girl go 'head, get DOWN!" gets annoying. I'm also not a fan of all that UNH-ing. And why do Busta Rhymes and Usher have to be referenced? It's really not a very good song at all. She was spose to buy ya shorty TYCO with ya money She went to the doctor got lipo with ya money She walkin around lookin like Michael with ya money Should of got that insured, GEICO for ya moneeey( your money) Inspired No, he rhymes Tyco with lipo, lipo with Michael, Michael with GEICO... is that something thats hard for you to understand? PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2005 I think the best songs I've heard this year were 'Interstate 5' by the Wedding Present and 'Blindness' by the Fall, off my favourite albums. I will also say there are a few good songs on the new Darkness album, including 'Hazel Eyes' 'Girlfriend' and 'Blind Man'. So there.
Anorak 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2005 Not really my favourite track overall but I doubt there's a more perfect closing track to any 2005 album than Things The Grandchildren Should Know by Eels. Fave live track: I Feel Too Young To Die - South San Gabriel

None of those words really rhyme, though. At least not how I pronounce it. You also did not address the abundance of UNH, pointless name-dropping, and the rest of the stuff that makes it a bad song. You're really late on this one. We've already come to the conclusion that Kanye West is a poor rapper, poor writer, relies on collaborators, but boy oh boy he can sample! Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2005 Slant rhyme loves you. And Anorak is right on about that Eels song. I ripped that album off a friend and have really enjoyed it a lot, 'specially the quieter moments.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2005 I also don't think Kanye West is as bad a rapper as many make him out to be. He's perfectly acceptable, and his other abilities support that just fine.

If you need nursery tale rhyming than stick to Dr Seuss. I don't know who this is referring to. Probably Czech. Kanye West is one of the better rappers out there. I can't think of many better. I don't know, I just dig the guy.
