PWI reports that local ads for Armageddon have announced that Orton/Taker will be for the WHC with Batista as special guest referee and former champ. Now, these ads might be outdated because they advertise Benoit/Booker match 7 (four matches in two weeks to get there?), Boogeyman's debut match (debuted at this week's SD tapings), and a tag team turmoil match for the titles (looks more like MNM vs. Mexicools)...so I'm wondering if there's any clear indication if Bats is going to try and make it to Mania or if he will be dropping the title like these ads say?

From the looks of spoilers it doesn't look like he'll be vacating the title before Armageddon...so what then? Bats vs. JBL vs. Rey?

Apparantly Batista is going to work through his torn lat.

This is not good and is just another example of what is wrong with wrestling. In light of what went down with Eddie, you'd think guys would learn to take time off when they need to. Batista is going to gut it out and work through and while he gets tough guy points for it, it's just incredibly stupid. He's 40 and this won't heal fast, much less while he's working and on the road. I'm banking he's already downing pain pills. Again, think about what went down with Eddie. Batista is probrably afraid of losing his spot (and I would too with sharks like JBL and Taker on the roster), and so he trudges on.

Maybe the fact that he's 40 and he's too old to compete for another 5 years makes Vince think he might as well put everything on the line now because he won't be around for long after this.

I think that TAP took the words out of my mouth. Batista needs to get while the getting's good ... why miss out on PPV pay-days, if he physically can work through the injury. I mean, it's not like he's going to be Hogan or Flair, wrestling at 50-something.

EDIT: TAP kinda-took the words out of my mouth is more accurate. I think this is more Batista's choosing to get while he can than Vince's.

What I'm saying is maybe Vince needs to tell Batista to sit it out for the two months or so that the doctors wanted him to rehab.

Or perhaps 5-10 years from now, Batista's DVD set will be like Jake's in that it'll be marketed around his addiction to drugs as opposed to what he did in the ring.

The plan right now is to have a Kane & Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio & Batista match at the Armageddon PPV on 12/18.

So Batista is protected in a tag match to hide the injury. I guess they feel the HIC match is enough of a draw to not have a world title match on PPV.

If Batista is injured and rehabbing it(instead of surgery), he really shouldn't be wrestling until the injury is healed and he shouldn't be the champ if he's not wrestling. Maybe they could do something like have it revealed that Batista was severely injured by all the attacks, but has been hiding it because he wants to continue wrestling, but Long doesn't want a top start getting hurt even worse. Then you could have that Palmer Cannon guy(since he is useless) say that the "network" doesn't want a champion who can't wrestle and has ordered to have Batista stripped to protect Long as a face instead of just having him strip Batista himself. Vacate the title and go from there or something. Then you could have Batista on-air without wrestling like attacking random people and having to be "escorted from the premises" since he'd be "angry" about the whole situation. Then whoever gets the title could feud with Batista when he's back and presumably Batista would put him over. I hate Randy Orton and I hope he never gets the belt again, as a sidenote. Kinda rushed these ideas out and I know WWF would allow Batista to continue working through his injury and I'm sure that's what will happen, so just all hypothetical obviously.

On the last Observer, Metztler says that Batista volunteered to stay around trough his rehab, try and at least work the big shows. For showing that kind of perseverence rhe decision was made to keep the title on him. At first the plan was to put the belt on Orton for a long run of programms withs several faces, with the dynamic of the punk kid whose daddy always saves the title for him

A perfect example for the new drug policy...

Evil Dinsmore was sent to rehab because of the somas but Batista is the hero of our hearts and some sources say that he is doing it for Eddie.

Yeah, of course Eddie wants him to take roids and painkillers to die like he did...
