Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2005 Just Friends moved up a spot? Damn, I haven't seen any ads for it in a while. Maybe Ryan Renolds can make some boxoffice bank afterall. No big shockers this week. But Narnia comes out next week to bury the competition
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 I didn't know Aeon Flux was coming out THIS weekend. *shrugs* I was hoping that it would be a major success so they could make some other 90s MTV shows into movies *Crosses fingers and hopes for Sifl & Olly: The Movie*

Guess it made all it was going to make opening weekend. Sad really, really sad. Course I think the problem is the movie came out a couple of years too late. Had the film came out at the height of the RENT crazy, it would have been huge. Well that and better advertising.

The movie flat out sucked. I am not one for the "what the hell? used a different gun in the show" type complaining, but it should have at least had the same style, energy, and basic character traits. This movie was more along the lines of some exec saying, "Hey, we have a shitty sci-fi action movie, lets paste the Aeon Flux characters and places names on it and see if that gets us some business." Guest JMA Report post Posted December 5, 2005 As a fan of the original show I'll be avoiding the live-action Aeon Flux. The movie's also gotten some of the worst reviews since CINO. There needs to be a rule against Oscar winners being in shitty action movies. Hopefully I can see Walk the Line and The Goblet of Fire soon.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 (edited) I went to see Corpse Bride, Fantastic 4 and Top Gun (yes, Top Gun) at the early preview of our new Regal Cinemas Stadium 16 for $1 each this week. OOH! High backed reclining stadium styled (ie each row of seats is elevated higher than the one in front more than normal like at a baseball stadium) seats and state of the art digital sound (which the old 10 screen theatre had already anyway). The biggest improvement is now they have 7 places to sell concessions instead of just 1...ok..yeehaw. Still doesnt mask the fact that a ticket now costs $10 (as opposed to $6 at the old theatre at the same mall). HA! Im not going to see King Kong now, screw that. Nice to hear the company I work for seems to insist on having seven concession stands at their new theaters when the refuse to allow us to spend the payroll to keep even the one at the theater I manage adequatly staffed. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2005 Narnia will knock off GoF this weekend. Has anyone seen Sarah Silverman's "Jesus is Magic"? I want to see it, but want a recommendation or two before hitting the art house.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Did the first one face any competition? Cause this one has been assaulted by nothing but shitty movies or Oscar contender movies that had no chance of touching it anyway. I don't remember some of the movies that came out around this time. And I can see CoN pulling a Lemony, doing just average and barely getting back to even.

bob_barron 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 You missed my point earlier. It's declining faster then Sorcerer's Stone and will not reach it. It's hard to compare it to Chamber, since Thanksgiving was its third weekend.

I haven't seen it, but I imagine it'd be the same thing as any comedian movie: Listen to some of her shtick, if you like it, go ahead and watch it, otherwise skip it.
