USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 (edited) What I find is that New York sucks vs teams that has a good passing offense. Exhibit A: New York vs San Diego. That was a rout. I think San Diego, with the exception of Indy, is probably one of the most high-powered offenses that could rival Cincy's. If New York got killed by San Diego, imagine how bad of a loss Cincy would hand them? Before you try to say that New York beat Denver, Denver is a run-oriented offense that has a better chance of being shut down with a good run defense that can play the play action/pass defense as well. mike546 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 How good is the Bengals O-Line? The Giants have been able to stop the passing game due to all the pressure they've gotten on QBs. And the Giants secondary has improved since then. It's still bad, but better then before.
nl5xsk1 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 What is it with the idea the Giants have a terrible O-Line? Beside taking penalties, the O-Line is terrific. Eli has only been sacked 25 times this year. They do a terrific job at run blocking. I don't know about other teams, but I could definitley see the Giants hanging tough in a shootout with the Bengals. Why would we remove taking penalties from consideration? That'd be like me saying, "Other than the horrible case of fumble-itis, Kevin Faulk isn't a bad back-up RB". The fact that the NYG OL takes false start penalties hurts their chances of being considered a terrific OL in my eyes.
mike546 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 I was saying it more toward jweeper, who said the Giant oline would get run over by the Steelers. I was just saying I think the O-Line gets a bad name for all the penalties it takes, when it does a great job protecting Eli and blocking for Tiki.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Fact is: New York is not as good of a team as you think. Tiki Barber, not Eli, has carried the team. Imagine what would happen if they faced someone with a good run defense and decent pass defense, like say... Chicago? Not that I think Chicago will go far in the playoffs but they can definitely knock off NY.
mike546 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Eli carried the team the first half of the season. The Giants have a ton of talent, but are really really inconsistent. If their playing well, I think they could definitley beat the Bears, or Seahawks.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 That depends on if Eli discovers his inner Peyton and Tiki rushed for 220 yards again. And again, facing Chicago's stingy defense, it isn't going to happen. The game will likely end up being the battle of FG kickers, so here's hoping for another Feely meltdown.
mike546 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 I'm still not confident in Feeley. He's made six in a row, but all six have *just* made it.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Last night, facing the #1 rushing offense with the three headed monster of Vick/Dunn/Duckett, Chicago allowed 114 total rushing yards. Compared to Atlanta's average of 171, that's really stingy.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 The Bears are going to the superbowl. THERE. Said that shit.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Depends on who they use as QB. If it's Orton, no. If it's Grossman... maybe.
Brett Favre Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 It's going to be the battle of the brothers this year. There I said it.
nl5xsk1 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 So, the only people that think the Giants are SB-bound are Giants fans. Hmmm, perhaps there's just a bit of bias there? /says the Pats fan that's argued that his favorite team has a legit chance of making it again
nl5xsk1 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Sorry, CW ... I actually should have known that, I think we've talked NFL before. I just saw your post & where you listed as your location and presumed that you were a Giants backer.
jwpeer Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 I was saying it more toward jweeper, who said the Giant oline would get run over by the Steelers. I was just saying I think the O-Line gets a bad name for all the penalties it takes, when it does a great job protecting Eli and blocking for Tiki. I didn't say the o-line would get run over. I said that Eli Manning has happy feet and insinuated that because of that he'd throw lots of picks/get sacked a lot. He stands in the pocket too long and gets lost sometimes when heavy pressure comes on him. Giants have an average like that is good in run blocking decent in pass protection. I said that DALLAS has a terrible line because of their offensive tackles.
mike546 Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 The Giants morph into the Patriots continues. A week after signing Terrel Buckley (hopefully learned the playbook by now), they signed Roman Phifer with all the LB injuries.
Guest Vitamin X Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 The AFC North and the AFC South are the two strongest at the top divisions in football. Indy, Cinci, Jax, and Pit (in that order) are imho the 4 best TEAMS in football. Cleveland is a decent team too that suffers from having to play Pit AND cinci twice (imagine if the brownies got to play detroit and GB twice instead...they could be winning the NFC north.) Tennessee is much like Cleveland not a terrible team either, just young. You forgot about the NFC East and the NFC South, both of which featured three teams at midseason who could have all feasibly won the division, and have beaten quality teams in both conferences and had chances to win their very tough divisions midseason. The Cowboys and Falcons have since tanked, and the Redskins and Bucs are teetering on the playoff edge, waiting to barely sneak into the playoffs and get slaughtered by a superior team. I don't see how you could make an argument for anyone in the AFC South besides the Colts and maybe the Jags (What the fuck? The Titans and Texans?!), or in the North with anyone outside of Pittsburgh. Jacksonville is horribly overrated (they played MUCH better defense last year, and their offense isn't any better with Leftwich and Taylor out), and the only team the Bengals have beat over .500 this season is the Steelers on a down year and with BenRo fresh off the injured list. How does this make them an amazingly great team? They can lay down all the 45-17 beatdowns on shitty teams all they want, unfortunately this isn't college football where that'll improve their ranking. You won't get any argument from me on Indianapolis, obviously, despite their loss yesterday.
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 I love how nobody is talking about the Carolina Panthers. That's the team that's going to the Super Bowl out of the NFC. Also, Jacksonville is not overrated. They've beaten Seattle, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh (with Ben hurt); nearly beaten the Colts, have beaten them before. It's not their fault the schedule sucks.

Guest Vitamin X Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 So, that makes two games out of 14..

I totally agree with Carolina. Jake Delhomme has already showed that he can shine in the playoffs and in pressure sports. Also, they may have a first round bye. Any of these NFC playoff teams can very easily beat each other on an given day. The NFC is wide open. JAcksonville is gonna upset someone in the playoffs. Hopefully, New England

Playoff experience is the key. Carolina's in a good division, they've played good teams. They came out of nowhere a few years ago, why not now? Also, Jacksonville's defense can play with anyone. They held the "high-power" Colts to 10 points. Not many teams can say they've ever done that.

Not many teams can say they've ever done that. Yes, didn't they give up 26 to them more recently? And beat the Niners at home by a single point? Edgerrin James looked like he was going to burst into tears on ESPNNEWS today. For losing a single game to a good team? Pussy. I hope the Colts don't win another game this year.
Hawkius Maximus Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Heres what I don't get, and I fully admit I haven't watched football for as many years as many others have ...but why do so many people write off the Seahawks? I get that they sometimes look shakey, and they let teams get too close sometimes, but they've shown this year that unlike the last few seasons, they can recover from those situations and still win. Not to mention they can be dominate when their "on", which has happened alot more this year then the last few. I'm not saying Seattle is winning the SB, because I think the shot of that is almost zero, but it seems like so many people write off the Hawks, then the next week they have a good preformence, and everyone says their great. Personally, I'm looking forward to the Colts game. If Seattle wins the game, they tie the Colts for the best record in the entire league, and if I'm not mistaken, they clinch home field advantage for the playoffs. And if Colts actually play, it could be a really, really good game.
Guest Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 Yeah, they gave up 26 to them. Turned the ball over three times on fumbles too, and held the Colts to 4 field goals. They didn't have Fred Taylor and Byron Leftwich this past week, so they obviously weren't at their best offensively.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 I cant believe the Ravens have scored 14 points in 1/2 a quarter.
Robert Posted December 20, 2005 Report Posted December 20, 2005 They did? I'm not even watching the game (holiday gathering) so what the fuck is going on with the game.
