the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Go Cowboys...fuck TO. Trust me, it is not going to be that easy. From now on your team is the TO Cowboys. Every story will be about TO, every movement of TO will be reported. You will not be able to root for the team and disassocite yourself from rooting for him. IMO, it was miserable being a fan of the team from Monday-Saturday. That said, if you get the honeymoon year out of him then it was worth it. An offense with Witten, Glenn and Owens as weapons is potent enough to win in the watered down NFC. Get to the Super Bowl and it was worth it as you have to take the shot. And can already hear the whining the first time TO scores a TD against the Eagles, because apparently to some people this is still all the Eagles fault. Irritating quote from the ESPN article: It's his attitude that prompted the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles to get rid of Owens. His relationship with the Eagles soured only months after he led them to the Super Bowl, finally ending with his release Tuesday. Yes, he was the one who led them by...err...not playing in the playoffs that year.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 So what are the odds that Dallas/Philly in Philly is going to be the Thursday opener this year? 80%? 90%?

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Parcells is not going to tolerate any of T.O's shit. I would love to see Parcells bitch slap him the first time he gets lippy with him.
4hartthreat 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Pittsburgh will host the Thursday opening game. The defending SB champ gets that game. But maybe T.O. vs. McNabb and Garcia can be the Monday night game that week.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Yep, so here comes the inevitable T.O. VS. McNabb/Garcia media hype. ESPN will probably hype that game like the Duke/UNC game they did this year, multiplied by 500.

Guest Report post Posted March 19, 2006 All this means is that I won't be watching any Dallas games this year, any preseason preview shows, any Monday Night Countdown's after Dallas losses, or SportsCenter during the week. I guess all these things are good things.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Jerry fucking Jones~!! I love it. The contract is for 3 years, but the way it's set up, it's essentially a one year deal three times over, which means they can cut him anytime after the first year if he becomes a pain in the ass. I don't see how it's like that with the $5 mil bonus TO got...

The contract is for 3 years, but the way it's set up, it's essentially a one year deal three times over, which means they can cut him anytime after the first year if he becomes a pain in the ass. I don't see how it's like that with the $5 mil bonus TO got... Well there's a really long explanation for it that I don't want to type and you probably don't want to read, but to put it in as basic of terms as possible.. He got $5 million up front to sign, and a $5 million base salary in 2006, a $3 million roster bonus in 2007, a $5 million salary in 2007, a $3 million roster bonus in 2008, and a $4 million salary in 2008. So it's like three one-year deals. Dallas can cut him after each of the first two seasons and not suffer much of a cap hit. If they release him before his 2007 roster bonus is due, the cap hit is only $3.33 million. If they cut him after 2007, the cap hit will only be $1.66 million. jwest27 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 You know, someone should probably check on Michael Irvin, you know, just to be safe.... Also, I like how the ESPN.com poll question, "Is signing Terrell Owens a good move for the Cowboys?" is split 50/50 after 200,000 votes. A nation divided! UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 And we've got our first candidate for the battered wife syndrome: Dallas Cowboy version. "Ohhh TO will be different this time!" I'm not saying he's going to be different. To me it's like this - if they didn't sign him they would just be a team struggling for a wild card spot, they sign him and now are an instant favorite in the NFC. If he acts up, they can cut him with a minimal cap hit. The reward far outweighs the risk.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Dude, you better hope Bledsoe has a career year otherwise T.O. will make a mess within a month, then the trouble would distract the team from their goal, and then there's no reward for the money you give up. Not without an improved o-line, a safety who can COVER (and actually make some open field tackles), and one more playmaking linebacker. Also, Julius Jones has to stay healthy. I MIGHT be right there with you on the TO thing if I was convinced he was absolutely the final piece to the Super Bowl puzzle for the Cowboys. But since he isn't, he's just not worth it. And even if he was I don't know. You risk a lot with a guy like him on the team. I mean, it's not like the Eagles didn't get to the Super Bowl without him... The way I see it they'll probably sign Marcus Coleman to play FS, he's no all-pro but he can still cover pretty well. They could also go after a FS in the draft. They signed Kyle Kosier and Jason Fabini on the O-Line, plus Flozell Adams is coming back from injury. I expect to see them take another lineman in the first 3 rounds though. And as for LB, most rumors have them taking either Chad Greenway, Bobby Carpenter or Manny Lawson with the 18th pick.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Here's another thing as well on the T.O. thing.. In addition to his previous character issues, he's been out of football for the better part of a year as he wasn't allowed to participate in any of the Eagles' programs for the major part of last season. He'd over 30, and came off a major injury just a year and a half ago (I know, my how the times change, right?). He's a tremendous injury risk waiting to happen, and there's no guarantee he'll be the T.O. of old either on the field.. or that he won't be off the field. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 You can say that, but you know you don't really believe it. T.O. > Randle El, Lloyd, Archuleta and Carter. I'm not a Skins fan but Santana Moss >>>>>>>>> Terrell Owens. Redskins went into the free agency season, looking for playmakers to help their already good team and they succeded. Have fun with TO though, if he couldn't make it work with McNabb, imagine what it's going to be like with Bledsoe who isn't nearly as accurate or good as McNabb. SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 And I would have to say I'd probably take the package of Randle El,Lloyd,Carter and Archuleta over T.O. Is T.O. a superior player compared to any one of them? You can certainly say that, and I'd agree with you somewhat, but as a whole, I'd rather have those 4 than T.O. on my team. We don't know how T.O. will act OR play, and if he can't get along with McNabb I don't see how things will work with Bledsoe but who knows.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 One thing working in Dallas' favor is the fact that TO will be the face of that franchise. More than wanting numbers, it was the money and recognition that caused the most problems between him and McNabb. No matter what Owens did (even if he was the most popular player, which may have been the case for a stretch), McNabb was still going to be the face of the franchise and the highest paid player. That more than the receptions, yards or TDs is what eats at Owens the most. In Dallas he is going to be the man, the one on the cover of the media guides, the one Jerry Jones will fall all over, the one player that when you say Dallas you think Owens. That might buy some extra time for this honeymoon.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Unless Drew becomes a drama queen like Garcia and McNabb, I also predict there won't be drama in Dallas. Mariucci and Reid seem like pussy coaches, so I believe Parcells and TO will share some sort of mutual respect for each other. Everyone also said Parcells and Jerry Jones would never work. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Santana Moss is certainly a fine receiver, but he is not T.O. If this was a few years ago, I'd agree with you, but Owens is older now and doesn't have the explosive speed Santana Moss has, and Moss is less selfish then Owens and doesnt need the team to be always focused on HIM. And don't forget Moss threat as a Punt and Kick returner. If I was GM, I'd certainly take Santana Moss over Owens in a second without looking back.
