KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 Guess Ty finally found a sucker to give him a long-term deal. There's no way I'd sign him for any more than three years.
teke184 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 The Chiefs WOULD be the team to sign him to a long-term deal... Their D is the big sore-point, next to the age of some of their starting contributors on offense (Trent Green, Willie Roaf, etc.).

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Has Bush still not signed? I heard he was demanding #1 pick money......but he wasn't the #1 pick. And on top of that it'd be really really bad for his image if he held out on New Orleans after what they went through and everything he said about rebuilding the city.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 26, 2006 They even talked about him possibly re-entering next year's draft. That'd be great. I hated the Bush hype as much as anyone else here, and thought the Saints picking him was retarded rather than going for an actual need.
Guest Report post Posted July 26, 2006 If the Saints don't give Bush what he wants, they can kiss New Orleans goodbye. With that in mind, Benson may keep that in mind and not pay him at all. If they care about the city, he will get what he wants. He sold those season tickets for the Saints. And no, they shouldn't have drafted him in the first place. If they care about the city, he will get what he wants. He sold those season tickets for the Saints. And no, they shouldn't have drafted him in the first place. He wasn't the number 1 pick, he doesn't deserve number 1 pick money. End of story. The Saints shouldn't have to pay him the money and if everyone wants to make it out to the Saints being the bad guys, then they can. But if Bush and his agent think he should have gotten first pick money then maybe he should build a time machine, go back to talking with the Texans and beg them to draft him #1 so he can get it. He's the number two pick, he gets number two money. And it's stupid he would consider holding out for a few extra million when he'll make it up times 10 with endorsements. Guest Report post Posted July 27, 2006 I never said he should get #1 money. However, if they don't give him what he wants, they've killed their fanbase in NO. So, they knew what they were getting into when they drafted him. I think it's stupid that the teams take so long after the draft to try to get their picks signed. That all said, they'll get him in camp. There's too much on the table.

UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 He should get #1 money. He's the biggest star in the draft, and probably automatically one of the top 5 most popular players in the NFL. His jersey is flying off the rack and the Saints sold out all their season tickets once he was drafted. The guy is a superstar and he knows what he's worth. He wasn't the #1 pick, end of story. He'll get what he deserves, which is #2 pick money. If the Saints are dumb enough to give him #1 money then they set a bar that they will cave in and give future picks whatever they want. And don't give me this, "Reggie is special" bull when he hasn't taken one damn snap in the NFL. The fact is simple: he was drafted number two, and no matter how much merch or season tickets he sold (which is a really big insult to every other Saint player saying they had zero to do with it) he should only get #2 money. Not a dime more.

Not a dime more. Your not getting the point... He might've not been picked #1, but the fact is he is the biggest star of the draft(To be honest Vince Young and Matt Leinart are just as big though), and he deverses to get the money. People are not buying tickets to see the New Orleans Saints play, they are buying tickets to see Reggie Bush play. He is the main attraction, so he should get paid an reasonable amount for it. Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 It doesn't matter. If the Saints cave and give Bush the same salary as a #1 pick it will set a terrible precedent for the next decade. How much money is enough for these guys? They are paid an enormus amount of money to stay in shape and to eat right. Shouldn't those millions be worth it already? The overall value of the contract could be worth as much as $58 million, and it includes $25.7 million in guaranteed money. Remember when Bo Jackson was origionally drafted by the Bucs as the #1 pick but sat out a year? He then became a 7th round pick. Bush should think of this scenario because that could easily happen to him if he holds out.
