dh86 Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Leena proves her ignorance once again. And it is called the PRO Football HOF, not the NFL HOF. So yes, Flutie's CFL records does play into account when his time arrives, that was a big reason Warren Moon got into the hall this year. the fuck wrong with you? Moon is in the top 5 in TDs,yards and completions NFL alone...Flutie was primarily an NFL backup save the Buffalo years and the 1 Charger season

dh86 Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 and its called the PRO football hall of fame as a technicality because of the leagues preceding the NFL as well as the AFL which merged into the NFL so dont be stupid..its a shrine for the NFL's greatest
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 Uh, Doug Flutie did prove he can play at the elite level when he lead the Bills to the playoffs. And that was him past his prime. As much as I am a Flutie fan, I don't think he should get into Canton. But I do think he could've been a HOF player if he played his prime in the NFL, because he was dominating the CFL like no QB before, but then again I've never seen Warren Moon play in the CFL.
tominator89 Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 Eagles DT Grasmanis retires PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Paul Grasmanis announced his retirement on Tuesday. Grasmanis served as an important part of the Eagles' defensive tackle rotation for the last six seasons, posting 126 tackles and 10½ sacks in 54 games. "Paul is one of my favorite guys," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "He was a tough player who gave everything he could possibly give to a football team. He played a lot of valuable snaps for the Eagles and helped us win a lot of football games." Grasmanis, 31, played in 104 games during his 10-year NFL career and recorded 197 tackles, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles. A fourth-round pick out of Notre Dame in 1996, Grasmanis played three years with the Chicago Bears and one with the Denver Broncos before joining the Eagles in 2000. Not a huge loss to the rotation which still has Walker, Jasper, Bunkley, Patterson, Rayburn, and Marshall.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted May 23, 2006 Report Posted May 23, 2006 There's something going on with Bush campaigning to be allowed to wear 5 this year, and the NFL keeps saying no. Haven't seen an article, but it was on the bottomline.
KingPK Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 The Rules Committee refused to make a new rule allowing him to do so.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 He shouldn't get it. If Edgerrin James can't get the #5, neither should he.

USC Wuz Robbed! Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Now that the NFL said no to Bush, I wonder what number he will wear? Probably either #25 or #35.
tominator89 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Am I the only one who is sick of hearing about Bush's jersey number? He should be excited about playing professional football and put the jersey issue to rest. His jersey will sell regardless of the number.

He was out of the NFL for a reason. He dominated the CFL because it was a pass-happy league with undersized defenders. He was not in the NFL because no one took him seriously because of his size. Which is why despite winning the Heisman Trophy he got drafted in the 6th round. Had he played his prime in the NFL, he would've been a Pro Bowl QB IMO, but we will never know and can only speculate. Now that the NFL said no to Bush, I wonder what number he will wear? Probably either #25 or #35. I think he'll go with 25.
CanadianChris Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 He was not in the NFL because no one took him seriously because of his size. Don't you think that if he'd shown someone, somewhere, that he had the talent to play in the NFL in the 80s, someone would've held onto him? Good QBs don't exactly grow on trees. Which is why despite winning the Heisman Trophy he got drafted in the 6th round. Ty Detmer was a ninth-round pick despite being a Heisman winner. Gino Torretta won the Heisman and got drafted in the seventh round. Charlie Ward won it the next year and wasn't drafted at all. Danny Wuerffel was drafted in the fourth round. Same story for Chris Weinke, Eric Crouch, and Jason White. All those guys had exactly as much success as their draft standing would indicate. Winning a Heisman and having success as an NFL QB rarely go hand in hand.

Winning a Heisman and having success as an NFL QB rarely go hand in hand. People weren't patent with him, and gave up on him right away. He proved when he went to Buffalo that he was a NFL level QB, but for some reason Buffalo thought that Rob "Robo Sack" Johnson was a better QB. If he played his prime years(1993-1997), he problay would've been a Pro Bowl QB. But like I said, debating this is useless, because we will never know.

Guest Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 The closest Flutie will ever be to the HOF is when his name's on the registration list for the tour. /knows there's probably not a list //laughed on the inside, even though it wasn't funny.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 You can't put Flutie in based on his potential to be good. That was the most assinine thing I've ever heard a few messages back.

Well, you just ruined the entire HOF campaign for Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch and Andre Ware. Rasham Salaam is also going to be pissed he can't get in now.

Damaramu Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Why is ESPN making such a big deal over this Reggie Bush jersey thing? I just heard them on the radio basically ripping the NFL for being the "No Fun League" and not making one tiny exception and allowing Reggie Bush to be #5. They didn't just say "that's wrong" they got downright sarcastic and petty and then they accused the NFL of being petty! Look Reggie Bush is in no position to be making demands and I agree with the NFL's decision. The only reason ESPN is making such a big deal about it is because their lord and god of football Reggie Bush is involved. If it was ANY other player then ESPN would say "The NFL is right. Who are you to make demands?" I'm sure if Bush ever held a ton of people hostage ESPN would make excuses for him and demand the police quit being petty and give him what he wants.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Yeah man, many other runningbacks like Edgerrin James requested to have a lower number jersey, and they got rejected. What makes Bush so special?
Damaramu Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 ESPN's BS excuse is because he's going to give the proceeds from his jersey sales to Katrina relief. They said on the radio it should be a "Special Hurricane Rule!" It doesn't matter if Reggie Bush wear 5, 25, or 8349840340934 his fucking jersey will sell because of the name.
Vampiro69 Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 The reason he wants to wear number five is because he fears that if they add an extra number to his jersey he won't run as fast.
yankovic fan Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 The extra number will weigh him down. All kidding aside, I respect that guys in sports are superstitious, but I'm not going to raise hell about it. I'm buying his jersey regardless.
the max Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 He should have been creative and worn #23...2+3=5
Vampiro69 Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 He should have been creative and worn #23...2+3=5 If he would have taken #23 people would start calling him the Michael Jordan of the NFL.

CanadianGuitarist Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Didn't see anything about this: Theismann speaks about Williams] This one might warrant its own thread. Discuss, as there's a lot of good points to be made on both sides.
