2GOLD Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Did I miss the part where Kevin Smith renegged on J&SBSB being the last film with Jay & Silent Bob? The word on the street is that basically, it's all Jason Mewes's fault that we are getting another J&SB-Verse film. Mewes had a nasty, nasty drug habit that got him in legal trouble around the time Jersey Girl was being made and it's been heavily rumored that in order to get his friend to go into rehab and stay clean, that Smith promised to Mewes that he'd put together a new J&SB film for the two to work together on. It's not a rumor actually. It's the truth. And this is the second time we'll see Jay and Silent Bob back together. They appeared together in Degrassi:The next generation as well. This just really comes off like everyone said, the sequel to the wrong movie. This isn't a sequel to Clerks, I don't know what the fuck this is. It's like a sequel to Waiting or something.
EricMM Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 He said it himself. He promised Mewes that he would make another Jay and Silent Bob movie if Jason Mewes got clean. Apparently he did. So he will. Because he loves Jason Mewes, and wants to rake in a fat check to help out his friend.
gWIL Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Seems like I'm the only one whose favorite is Chasing Amy. Chasing Amy is definitely Smith's best work. Agreed. His funniest work was the animated series. Where is Mooby's metioned in the Jay and Silent Bob universe?

Pretty much all the movies I think have a brief mention but those are the two big mentions.
Mecha Mummy Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Seems like I'm the only one whose favorite is Chasing Amy. I also think Chasing Amy is his best film with Clerks in a close second.
Dr. Zaius Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 The blonde looks like Smith's wife...except blonde. That is because it is her. Which is blonde.

Agreed. oh and 2GOLD, I'm pretty positive JSBSB and Dogma are the only two movies that reference Mooby.

You are probably right. It's really a stupid addition anyway.
Black Lushus Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 who knows, guess that gives me an excuse to watch Chasing Amy again.
2GOLD Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 I'd watch it if I had it. Chasing Amy and Mallrats are the two DVDs I always forget to buy and I can get them for like five bucks each. Damn me and my need to buy St. Elmo's Fire! Also, after seeing the trailer I'm beginning to think Smith has lost sight of all the things that made me good. Rosario is a great and all, but she seems out of place. Hell, they all seem out of place.
Guest OKCoyote Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 As for it being "Clerks 2", that is tied to what Mole to the People said: Smith is a one-hit wonder regarding his own little J&SB-linked franchise and him doing a "Clerks" sequel is a sign of desperation in terms of him strip-mining his early work for the sake of being still able to get work...... Smith would probably admit this himself.
