Plasma TV's

Recommended Posts

I will be getting a Plasma TV soon and I was thinking into the future. Like a lot of you I like to watch wrestling and other things but I was concerned about watching wrestling PPV's because I don't think WWE logo ever dissapears during a PPV.

Have any of you experienced something similiar to this and is there a high chance of burn it?

Supposedly newer generation Plasmas dont have as much of a burn in risk, and to be honest, it would probably only really be a problem if you did nothing but watch WWE PPVs 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

I think if you are truly worried about burn in, you should probably look towards DLP or LCD instead.

Plasma, even the newer ones, are still ranked as the highest burn-in risk tvs, however they do say the burn-in risk is severely reduced in the newer models. So it is still taking a chance, because I am sure by "newer" they mean the ones in the $5000.00 + range.

Actually CRT projection tv's have a much higher chance of burn-in than plasmas. New plasma televisions (Anything released in the last year and a half, many of which cost from 2k-3k btw) have a very minimal risk of burn-in, and the only significant way to burn-in a plasma is by playing a video game with a static menu/status bar for long periods of time, or a television channell like espnnews, cnn, HSN with a scrollbar on it.

CRT projection televisions are much more suceptible to burn in than that...but they're pretty much not worth buying as a technology anymore, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Well projection HDTVs are the biggest screen size HDTV you are going to get for around $1000 (50+ inches). I similarly priced LCD/Plasma/DLP will run upwards of $3000 or more.

Correct. I got my Toshiba Widescreen 46" HD TV for $999, and it looks fantastic. I have an upconvert dvd player and watching DVDs via an HDMI connection is amazing. Sure I could have broke the bank and tried to get an LCD or Plasma, but I am not quite in the finanacial state in my life to be dropping 3-5,000 on a TV.

I have a 52" widescreen HDTV and I love it, it'll last a few years, by the time I need to switch up, the newer things will have dropped in pirce...for now, I'm lovin what I have...I just can't fathom spending over 1000 for something 36" or smaller, no matter how great the picture quality is.
