Guest bigm350 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Is anybody on this thread going to the house show? Yeah, my wife and I are going. Its funny but I totally forgot about this house show, and my wife and I both watched Impact last night, and then I remembered it and brought it up to her about going. I was joking around with her about seeing if she was interested in going, but I didn't think too much of it since she's a casual fan, who doesn't really care one way or the other about wrestling. She watched last night's Impact, and was completely marking out, particularly after Petey Williams hit Sonjay Dutt with the Canadian Destroyer. She was completely in awe of the move, and said that it was amazing. She said that TNA is alot more interesting than the WWE because of the fast paced action, the faster, more agile, and creative wrestlers, and overall, the breath of fresh air that TNA provides, compared to the WWE. So, yeah, we're both going to the show. I think this a good sign for TNA because my wife hasn't really been a fan since the latter days of the Attitude era, and will rarely watch a segment, or two of Raw, and then do something else, because it bores her, or insults her intelligence. She might be a rare case, but after seeing her first Impact show last night, she seemed to want to know more about the product, and really got into it. She even said the "fat guy", meaning Samoa Joe, was a pretty good wrestler. Its thing like this that can hopefully sway casual fans, or fans on the fence with the wrestling product, and shift them over towards watching more TNA. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 See, I agree. My wife was really into the X Division 6 man tag that aired on the prime time special a couple months back. I think that's why moving Impact to Thursdays is going to be so great...a lot more casual fans might have the chance to see the product and get hooked. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 I got my tickets yesterday. also: "Michigan Independent Wrestling Central has learned that close to 2500 tickets have been sold for the 3/17 TNA house show at Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth. $50 and $25 floor seats have sold out, but MIWC has found that floor seats do still remain for the event at $20. For those interested, go to the TNA event page on Ticketmaster.com website, and choose the $20 seats, and select "Best Available." As of the time of this post, 12th row, which is the last row on the floor, are still available"

I hadn't planned anything, but a short drive (4 hours) to Detroit wouldn't be too bad. I know people in northern Ohio anyways, that i had been meaning to see again. $20 for tickets, roughly $50 in gas and maybe $35 in food...not an expensive weekend. I would rather go to Detroit/Chicago for night one of the ROH WM tripleshot weekend but I'll be in class and work that weekend.

If that number is true, not only is TNA probably doing backflips, but Detroit may just have brought itself Bound for Glory 06. I've seen reports that they are considering taking the PPVs on the road starting with BFG, and I'd bet anything that the first non-Orlando PPV is going to one of the markets they've tested (Detroit, Virginia and Canada). IIRC, the Virginia and Canada shows drew just under 1,000, although they were in smaller venues, so this is going to be TNA's biggest gate to date. It'll be interesting to see what they draw in VA now that the shows will be branded TNA shows, as opposed to just featuring TNA talent though.

I didn't really want floor seats because the few times I have got them, we've had people stand in front of us, stand on the seats, and hold up signs, at house shows no less. IMO, they're a waste of money, because you'll be seeing the back of the person's head seated in front of you, more than the action in the ring. Unless, you have front row seats. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 I'm in the stands too. The good floor seats were sold out when I decided to go...but I probably wouldn't have dropped the 50 for them anyway.
Stephen Joseph 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 I used my contacts that Dames developed when he did the reviews (THANKS DAMES!) and got ringside tickets to the apr 1 show in virginia. Plus, I've still got my TNA STAFF badge, so hopefully ill like, be able to pass off as a former employee and like, get backstage again. Maybe AJ will destroy me in a game of pool again. The Sinister Minster SUCKS at pool. Terrible partner...
RedJed 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 Ok so hopefully this house show apparent success in Detroit will open up a ton of new avenues for TNA, not just in a possible house show tour, but more importantly, to have them start touring at least with their ppvs. I'm getting to the point where I really can't stand the same setup and look for the ppvs as Impact. If they want to keep the Impact tapings in Orlando thats great, but they GOT to move the ppvs out of there IMMEDIATELY! Hell, why not even just follow up in Detroit and announce at the house show that Lockdown will be there, about a month after? I would bet 90 percent of those fans would return for the ppv, plus some would bring others.

TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 here's another report, from PWI: Pre-Show Notes: TNA has imported their six sided ring there....Jeremy Borash is ring announcing....One of the referees is former ECW ref John "Pee Wee" Moore....Cassidy Riley is also at the event....Spike TV is in the house with a camera crew filming the show. *Shark Boy pinned Simon Diamond with the Dead Sea Drop. *Chris Sabin pinned Alex Shelley with the Cradleshock in a good match with lots of near falls. *The Insane Clown Posse came out to the ring and praised TNA. They said they would be returning to TNA this summer and they would be looking for championship gold when they did. This brought out Team Canada's Eric Young and Petey Williams (with Scott D'Amore). A match began... *Insane Clown Posse defeated Team Canada. At one point, Scott D'Amore lost his glasses and "blindly" hit the Canadian Destroyer on Williams. *Border City Wrestling's Jeffrey Scott has taken over ring announcing. *Bobby Roode pinned Jerry Lynn using his hands on the ropes for leverage. *Sabu, in his TNA return, pinned Abyss in a No Holds Barred Street Fight after an Arabian Facebuster through a table. *Rhino pinned Team Canada's A-1 with a gore. *In a match taped for Impact, Samoa Joe defeated AJ Styles in a great match with a lot of great spots. The match was billed as an X-Division contenders bout. The crowd was split with lots of "This is Awesome" and "Sloppy Joe" chants. Styles had a bloody nose. The official attendance to the event is 3,700 with 3,410 paid. *NWA Tag Team champions America's Most Wanted defeated The Naturals. Andy Douglas was carried out of the ring after the match. *NWA champion Christian Cage pinned Jeff Jarrett with the Unprettier. There was a huge brawl to end the show featuring Cage, Jarrett, Abyss, Rhino, Samoa Joe, and AJ Styles with the babyfaces standing tall at the end. Wow...almost 3,500 paid. Detroit's so getting the first PPV.

Guest bigm350 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 I was at the show last night, and it was a pretty good show. The match of the night was Joe vs AJ Styles, and the Lynn-Roode, and Sabin-Shelley mathes were good, too. I was actually surprised that the attendance was recorded as being that high, because there were alot of empty seats all over the arena.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 Yeah but how big was the arena? That might explain alot of empty seats if it held, say 6-7k Results sounded ok, they should consider a DVD release of this as it kind of might hold some value if in fact they ever start doing house shows. Still just so, I dunno, underwhelmed I guess would be the word, with the TNA product as a whole right now and this is another example of such. Its pretty sad when the ICP match sounds like the clear highlight of the show.

Its pretty sad when the ICP match sounds like the clear highlight of the show. To me, the arena looked really small. I'm pretty sure its the arena of a minor league hockey team of Detroit. There was only one bowl for the whole place, as opposed to bigger stadiums usually having 2 decks.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2006 I read somewhere that the arena they held the house show in holds 4,500. So it would be about 80% + filled. That's pretty good for TNA. Hell, can you remember the last time an arena was at 80% capacity for a WWE house show (not including overseas shows)?

Hell, can you remember the last time an arena was at 80% capacity for a WWE house show (not including overseas shows)? It holds 4500 for hockey... they could probably get 6k or so for wrestling. Allegedly TNA had 5000 seats for this event set up. Still a pretty good crowd... ECW didn't have many times drawing more than that and it blows away anything ROH has ever ran. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2006 I enjoyed the show. I went with a non-wrestling fan...who pretty much just wanted to see Samoa Joe based on the two matches I showed him...and what I've told him. While he sat in a car for 5 hours there...and 5 hours back and he was not disapointed. Samoa Joe is so good...and so far above everyone else at this point that it isn't even funny. A non-wrestling fan giving applause to Joe...for being Joe. Alex Shelley is so much better than what they give him on ppv and tv. Sabu and Abyss disapointed...because most people in the crowd had seen their ppv stuff... AMW is really good at getting crowd reactions. They were the best heat/spot pop drawing people on the card. Joe is the best wrestler that you can go see today. If he comes around...pay for your ticket. He's the best wrestler in North America. Overall...I was shocked at how many kids were in the crowd. I did not expect/think about the family aspect of drawing the crowd. But I have been to 4 RoH shows...and thows crowds combined probably fall short of this crowd by a few hundred.
