OAO RAW Thread for 1/16/06

Recommended Posts

Guest panthermatt7

From WWE.com:

Tonight on RAW, for the first time ever, Edge will put his newly-won WWE Championship on the line in a TLC Match. His opponent will be 16-time World Champion Ric Flair. Is the Nature Boy primed for another reign on top? Or will the Rated R Superstar's experience in TLC Matches carry him over Flair? Watch RAW to find out.

The new World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels have had some of the best matches in WWE history. They are considered two of the best all-around performers that the sports-entertainment industry has ever seen. They delivered an instant-classic at WrestleMania 21, and Angle walked away with the first victory in what would turn out to be an extended rivalry.

Their match at WrestleMania was an interpromotional one, but after Angle was drafted to RAW in the Draft Lottery, it was just a matter of time before they locked horns again. The rematch was at Vengeance, and while the match was another classic, the result was different as HBK picked up the big win.

Mr. McMahon then put a smile on every WWE fans’ faces when he announced a third match between the two for the big WWE Homecoming last October. To make things even more interesting, though, he made the rubber match a 30-Minute WWE Iron Man Match. The two battled to the point of exhaustion for 30 minutes, and in the end, they both scored two falls apiece, and the match was ruled a draw.

After HBK and Angle had a falling out during a tag team match on RAW, Mr. McMahon thought it would be the perfect time for HBK vs. Angle IV. And who could argue? Don’t miss RAW tonight in what is sure to be another instant classic between these two amazing competitors.

Also, John Cena will attempt to break Chris Masters' "Master Lock Challenge". The Masterpiece almost had it locked on Cena at New Year's Revolution and no one has been able to escape the hold yet. Can Cena? Find out tonight.

And Kane, Chavo Guerrero and Shelton Benjamin all qualified for the Royal Rumble. It was also announced that Rob Van Dam would make his big return to the squared circle in the Royal Rumble Match. Who else will qualify for the Royal Rumble? Tune in to Monday Night RAW at 9/8 CT on the USA Network to find out.

-------

Wow, I've never started one of these things before... dunno if the Flair/Edge TLC thread is supposed to be the RAW thread, so... starting it just in case. Close it if ya want.

I, for one, will not be watching. Just to get that out of the way.

Then you shouldn't have made the thread.

Sorry, I guess I'll try to stay on higher moral ground next time. Or I'll stop trying to be a 'cool smark' that pretends he doesn't watch. The heart-wrenching decisions...

Does it really matter who makes these threads?

EDIT: On topic:

Mr. McMahon then put a smile on every WWE fans’ face

Was THAT really needed?

Some people use purdy lil' pictures and links to WWE.com videos. :(

No, it doesn't really matter. I just thought making the WWE Raw thread and then throwing it "I ain't watchin" was kinda pointless.

As if saying "This is pointless" on this messageboard, isn't pointless?

POINT!

Ultimate Fight Night is gonna tool this. Plus there's the Best of 2005 airing before it from 7-10. 5 Hours of Awesome vs. 2 Hours of WWE (I use WWE because words like "suck" "shit" "worst thing ever" can't even begin to have the same effect and convey the same meaning as "WWE").

But oooh boy, a grandfather in a TLC match~! Masters vs. Cena~! Shelton Benjamins Mama~!!~!!

I dont think UFC will win the ratings tonight...but its almost definitly going to happen. People really are getting into UFC while the wwe continue to ignore its fanbase. Maybe tonight Raw will be good, but I doubt it. Ultimate Fight Night (and, obviously the best of '05) is guranteed to be entertaining. Its nice to have an option on Monday Night again that doesnt make me feel stupid for watching it.

I'm going to catch the replay on Telemundo~ and check if Raw is any good during the morphoplex commerical breaks.

No, though if they manage to get another 2.0, I think I might freak out. If

they end up having monthly shows

, there won't be a need for me to pimp it on here, in a few months, people will be in the MMA folder trying to pimp RAW ;)

"OH SHIT, YOU GOTTA SEE EDGE vs. CENA! THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME! THEY MIGHT, POSSIBLY, MAYBE, COULD HAVE AN OK MATCH THAT WON'T BORE YOU TO TEARS AND MAY ACTUALLY HAVE A COOL WRESTLING MOVE IN IT!! WWE IS ON THE RISE BABY~! ATTITUDE"

Ok, MMAWeekly just said...

Royce Gracie is in Las Vegas and some people around him are saying that Gracie vs. Hughes is gonna happen

That's a bit of a holy shit.

Watching people really getting kicked in the face or Grandpa climbing a ladder? Hmm, choices.

I think I'll be pulling a flip back and forth just in case by some miracle that something interesting does happen on RAW.

I'm not dying to pay to see

Royce

get killed, but if I watch anything tonight it will be UFC. I'm not sure a monthly UFC show would do it for me though.

This Huge Announcement by the UFC is bound to disappoint me. Simply because I am too excited and my hopes are too high. Irvin vs. Bonnar better be the slugfest it should be, dammit, or else I might just give up on the whole thing and stop invading the WWE folder with my Pro-MMA antics and stop trying to save all these poor pro wrestling fans from the cold hand of Vince McMahon.

I am very jacked about RAW.

UFC is boring.

BEAT IT MMA FANBOYS

Nobody could be jacked about RAW so it's clear that you're lying.

And while we're at it, here's a picture of Wanderlei Silva gettin' all kinds of gay with one of the Rua brothers in Brazil.

BEAT IT, LOVER OF BAD WRESTLING.

Here's one reason to watch raw:

The crowd reaction of Kurt's first appearance since winning the WHT. They can't mute the crowd on this show. Or maybe they are booking him face now. Oh, I don't know. Should still be interesting.

Uh, they did (try to) censor the "You Suck" chants for a while. They can do whatever they want when Angle walks out, but they'd be foolish to act like he won't be the top face on SD.

That was just an attempted get him more heel heat. On SD! last week, they were muting his battle royal win

I know, but I'm just saying that they can at least try to manipulate crowd noise even on RAW. Considering he's facing Michaels it'll likely be a 50/50 crowd anyway. If he was facing Cena or Edge or someone like that, then it would probably be 90% Angle and they couldn't touch that in any way.

Rudo and Curry are right. There's nothing special about any raw, much less a show that tries to push a TLC match with grandpa and a yet another stroke-fest between Angle and Shawn. That'll show them grapplers what's what.

They will throw everything they have into this show and have nothing to show for it. Hey at least they bumped that meaningless rating up, because we know a 4.4 means business is good and the company is saved.

I can't believe that everyone's talking about the competition tonight between Raw and UFC. Did everyone forget the show with the best worked fights and storylines on television? 24, bitches!
