Ravenbomb Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 don't know if anybody's hear of/seen The Conformist, but it's a really great 70's Italian movie. It's OOP on VHS and DVD, but it's gonna be on TCM at 1:30 am CST if anybody's interested
Art Sandusky Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 Speaking of TCM, I had no idea they started showing full-length anime movies on there too.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 This movie sounded interesting and was thinking of watching, but I must've got distracted and forgot about it. This month they've been featuring Hayao Miyazaki films, but I don't think the anime is a continuing thing.
Art Sandusky Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 Yeah, I noticed they were only showing Miyazaki films, which are mainstream-approved now that Disney helps distribute them I guess.
Bruiser Chong Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 I've said it elsewhere, but TCM is really the best place for film. Their respect and treatment of it is incredible. Them showing so many great ones that aren't on DVD is the reason why I want Tivo so badly.
Bruiser Chong Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Sticking with TCM, they're airing Greed at 11:15 ET tonight. Although over four hours in length as it is now, it's still missing five hours of footage.

Vyce Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 It is startling how superior TCM is to the other 'movie classics' channel, AMC. AMC is just awful. They might as well steal TBS' old tagline of "movies for guys who like movies", because some of the shit I'm seeing listed on AMC's schedule would have fit right in with the cheese TBS used to show all the time before it went mostly comedy reruns. I mean, hate to tell you, AMC, but "Species" is NOT a classic film.
Bruiser Chong Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 The editing, commercials, and disregard for OAR bother me as much as what they show. I recall a time when AMC and TCM were on the same level, but AMC is just trash now. I like how they can't even seem to show the original from an on-going series. Instead, they get Halloween 4 and that's it.
