2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 This has been one poorly played Super Bowl. Screw the score, the game has just been poorly coached and just overall been pathetic. Feel like I'm watching the Arizona Cardinals take on the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
NYU 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 The Roethlisberger TD was undeniably NOT a touchdown and there's no purpose for revieiwing footage if you're going to see you made a blatant mistake on a particular call, but then follow through on not changing it anyway. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 He stiff armed a guy in front of the official. If that isn't offensive pass interference, then what the hell IS pass interference anyway? I'm tired of this "defense can't touch you but you can shove them all around" bullcrap.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 People have been saying all year that the replay system is bullshit because they don't want to make it seem like the refs make mistakes. As Al Michaels said, the ref comes in with one hand up to spot the ball, then suddenly changes his mind to calling it a TD. The ball never crosses the goal line, the replay CLEARLY shows that, but since that would mean they made a mistake and have to admit it, they just come up with the "inconclusive evidence" bullshit and let a bad call stand rather than correct it. It's reaching epidemic proportions when there have been probably 10-20 horrifically blown calls in the playoffs alone. Why they didn't even check the DJ one foot in the endzone catch I don't know, but you'd think a potential TD would be reviewed by the booth.

I'm tired of this "defense can't touch you but you can shove them all around" bullcrap. They were both shoving for position, and although it was a touchy call, I don't think you can not make that call in a Super Bowl. As soft as it was, it's to big, IMO. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 I'm not sure the Rolling Stones are the best rock band of all time. That's like saying Gerald Ford is the best president of all time because he won't die either.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 Officiating has really, really SUCKED this playoffs. I think the officials are TRYING to end instant replay. And I think they have found the perfect way to do it, just keep blowing calls as much as you possibly can and then do nothing about them. And when you get a call right, use instant replay to fuck it up so it's wrong those making instant replay look like shit. IT'S BRILLANT!

It wasn't quite THAT blatantly obvious. Call could've gone either way. I agree that the refs are sucking. Aren't these supposed to be the NFL's best refs? From the beginning of the game, they mentioned that this is the first time this crew has officiated a championship game and is only in their 5th season. They were both shoving for position, and although it was a touchy call, I don't think you can not make that call in a Super Bowl. As soft as it was, it's to big, IMO. But if you do it right in front of the official, it has to be called. Touchy or not, he stiff arms a guy so the guy drops back a full step to get space to make the catch. If no official is there, the call isn't made. He was the one who was stupid enough to do it in front of the official when he didn't need to do it. So blame Jackson for being a moron, not the official for calling an obvious one. The Big Ben touchdown has been the only bullshit call (if we believe what the official told Mike...dummy), that and the holding call on the Warrick return. Those two were just bad ones. justcoz 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 I'm not at all confident in the Steelers at this point in time and I'm agreement that we were given a few calls there and got very lucky. Needless to say, GO STEELERS!!!!!! Here's hoping they step it up in the 2nd half and it's games like today which is why I was only quietly upset when Polamalu's interception was reversed in the Indy game. Bad calls happen all the time to every team and it sucks when it's your team. I still think the Super Bowl however should be void of these situations. It wasn't quite THAT blatantly obvious. Call could've gone either way No way. If that would have originally been ruled short of a touchdown, followed by the replay being shown, there would have been no disagreement from everybody that Roethlisberger came up short. It was the fact that the referee ruled it a touchdown that some are now acting as if it was a difficult call. It wasn't. The ball didn't touch the line. Even with his arm blocking a full view of the shot, it was easy to see the ball simply did not touch the line. I simply cannot see how that call could be misconstrued as a TD. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2006 C'mon the ref read the back of the jersey and it wasn't a familar coulour (Pats, Colts, Eagles) or a familiar receiver (Johnson, Harrison, Ward, Owens). So he decided to give it to the no name schmuck (Jackson). A good reason why the Stones are over-rated. When did they ever become the "mega" arena stars that they are.
