Lesser of two evils. I know Henry injured Batista, but it was reportedly not his fault so I don't hold it against him and he's currently running a decent short-term monster angle while working pretty well the last couple of weeks. Edge won the title 10 months after he had any heat, and I don't think we need to discuss what has happened to Cena since he went to RAW.

 

The #2 Championship

RAW - Ric Flair v. ????

Smackdown! - Booker/Orton v. Benoit

 

Flair has nothing left that interests me at all. The US Title situation has dragged, but it is still Chris Benoit and Orton/Booker would be interesting if they ever decide to pull the trigger on that breakup, even if only to have a three way with Orton in the tweener role. Regardless, the IC Title situation is RAW's weakest point right now and has been since Carlito beat Shelton.

 

As an aside, the US Title matches got a lot better once Orton replaced Booker. Even though I can't stand Orton personally, he's better in the ring than Booker at this point who hasn't been the same since his back injury a couple of years ago.

 

The Tag Titles

RAW - Show/Kane v. Heartthrobs? Snitsky/Tomko? Viscera/Val? 3 Minute Warning?

Smackdown! - MNM v. Mexicools? Kendrick/London? Dicks? Gymini? Regal/Burchill?

 

The biggest gap by far. RAW's tag division is non-existant, while Smackdown has developed an interesting little group with talented workers like MNM, London/Kendrick & Burchill/Regal. Smackdown's tag division right now is the deepest of any WWE tag unit since the first half of 2003.

I like Trish, but she doesn't have anyone to fight that is any sort of serious threat to her in her terms of starpower. I take the cruisers. At least it is competitive.

Styles is good, but Coach & Lawler are so bad that they are killing him. Basically the same thing as when JR was there. The less said about Maria & Grisham the better.

Cole & Tazz are good together, and Matthews is possibly the best announcer on the roster. Funaki doesn't really do much. As an added bonus, Ken Kennedy has been amusing in a limited role recently.

Both are bad, but RAW's wrestlecrap recently is more watchable than Smackdown's.

This is a bit different for me. RAW as the TSN 9 PM Timeslot which is often pre-empted for other sports (that I'd probably rather watch anyways, but that's besides the point) and this fall will be off every week for MNF.

 

Smackdown is on at 8PM Thursdays. A much better timeslot.

Neither show is very good right now. Smackdown was on a role in the fall, but the loss of Eddy Guerrero & Batista has shattered their main event. RAW was garbage then and is still garbage now.

 

I end up with 10-2 in favour of Smackdown, but like I said the TimeSlot issue is entirely based on the Canadian timeslots. In the US, I would agree that RAW has the better slot, making it 9-3. But a lot of Smackdown's victories aren't even close, so even with its decline it is still the much better show at this point.

#1 Title - Smackdown. Just because of Angle, although neither feud is interesting.

#2 Title - Push. Both are a mess.

Tag Title - Push. Neither matters.

Other Title - Raw. The women's title is the only decent written shit on Raw.

Midcard - Smackdown, but I guess it matters who you'd include in this.

GM - Push. All GM angles suck now.

The Top Backstage Guys - I don't see how this affects the show at all... especially since HHH isn't being booked like Jesus, and Taker is rarely ever on SD.

Women - Raw.

Announce Team - Raw.

Wrestlecrap - Raw. Just because Shelton's Mama is doing a great job in her role.

Time Slot - Raw.

 

5-2 Raw.

 

But, I enjoy SD more, in the rare cases I remember to record it. So, meh.

I would disagree with that. Yes, the last Benoit/Orton match was great but the two before that weren't quite as good and featured dissapointing preformances by Orton who at times was really struggling in the ring. Orton I find can be inconsistent at times. Meanwhile Booker was a lot more consistent against Benoit in this series and was strongly outpreforming Orton in my view. Even though Book can't move like he used to he was coming up with fun stuff and looked more at home in the ring than Orton did.

I'll take Raw. From what i've seen of Mark Henry. Angle's going to have a hard time carrying him at their Rumble match.

No brainer. Smackdown.

Neither brand uses "other" very well.

 

The Midcard

Smackdown. The midcard is more experienced, and better all around.

That's just comparing things like they're all equal when they're clearly not. For instance, you could compare the menu at two restaurants and find you like 12 items at Restaurant A and 7 items at Restaurant B, but if the only two things you actually want to eat are at Restaurant B, you're going there.

So, my entertainment value from Raw is 24.5 and my entertainment value from Smackdown is 11. I'd say the minimum entertainment value of a show I'll watch regularly is around 20. However, with 24 on now, I really can't bring myself to care about either show at all.

This is a tricky one. I do prefer Kurt Angle as champion to both Edge and Cena. However Angle is feuding with freakin Mark Henry. I think cena vs Edge kan produce a good match but I dont think Angle can make Henry look very good. I say its a tie here because of the circumstances.

Smackdown! - Booker/Orton v. Benoit

 

This was a no-brainer. SD wins because the US title actually means something. The IC title isnt even mentioned on RAW.

I dont like Kane and while they have been boioked well and strong that has been at the expense of every other tag team on RAW. Its isnt the least competative. Kane and Show probably do more single matches as well. MNM is the best team i WWE (considering everything). Add other great teams at Regal/Burchill and Kendrick/London and the vote goes to SD.

 

The "Other" Title

I think James, Stratus and Victoria are the best women WWE has had in a long time. However it really is only those three ladies there. And to be honest even the best WWE womens wrestling stand no chance to the likes of Kash, Noble, Nunzio and the boys.

I would say this is a tie for me. Maybe a small edge to SD but Im not sure. I like to watch the up and comers. Especially when they make progress (Masters/CCC in the elimination chamber for example). I am enjoyed by JBL, Rey, Benoit, Shelton, RVD and Flair as the guys who are already established (well more than the rookies anyway).

Huh? Who is playing the best political games backstage? Angle, and JBL are doing something I like. Taker doesnt hog to much spotlight. I think HHH is doing a good job nowadays as well. HBK is annoying and he feels very outdated even if I do tend to enjoy his actual matches. As I've said before - get Vince away from tv. The edge goes to SD.

Melina is the best woman in WWE in such a long time. She just has "it". RAW has alot of dead weight but they do have Stratus, Victoria and James. I seem to enjoy Marias backstage things at times as well. Stacy is bad for SD while Sharmell does her job well and gets heat and Jillian is doing ok. The edge goes to SD just because I overall tend to like that show more (+ less dead weight).

This is a hard one. Mattews is good and Maria is funny at times. Lawler and Coach was more interesting after the addition of Styles and I think they work pretty well. I used to love Tazz's announcing a couple of years ago but he's just getting worse and worse nowadays. And Cole is a person I can both have and loose and it wont make alot of difference. It goes against my heart but Im actually choosing RAW here.

The Women's Title is at least defended on RAW, and has a storyline. The CW Title is Velocity filler.

Smackdown is the best wrestling show on TV at the moment...pretty crazy considering they lost their top star, their champion, Mark Henry is in the ME, UT rarely appears, etc.

Well...in the 2-3 weeks I've actually been paying attention to WWE, I've actually enjoyed both World Title programs. Smackdown's is probably the better program from a booking standpoint, but based on pure entertainment I've enjoyed Raw a little more, if only due to the fact that I've always liked Edge and I'm happy he's got the belt, even if it is a lame duck reign.

 

The #2 Championship

RAW - Ric Flair v. ????

Smackdown! - Booker/Orton v. Benoit

In the 2-3 weeks that I've been paying attention, I *DID NOT* realize that Flair still had the I-C Belt. What does that say for you? Smackdown gets the nod here.

 

 

The Tag Titles

RAW - Show/Kane v. Heartthrobs? Snitsky/Tomko? Viscera/Val? 3 Minute Warning?

Smackdown! - MNM v. Mexicools? Kendrick/London? Dicks? Gymini? Regal/Burchill?

Raw's tag division is non-existant, while I like a lot of the teams on Smackdown. No contest.

 

The "Other" Title

RAW - Trish Stratus v. Victoria? Mickie James?

Smackdown! - Kid Kash v. London? Kendrick? Jamie Noble? Nunzio?

Well, I'm a mark for Trish, and her program with Mickie seems to be one of the more interesting things going on right now. Raw gets this one.

I actually liked the Spirit Squad last night. Aside from their association with Vince, I really like Vince Devils (Candice has really grown on me) and Shelton's mom rides the fence between irritating and pretty fucking funny (her skit with Vince last week had me dying). Boogeyman et al haven't done anything for me on Smackdown.

Smackdown is a better show at this point. Edge and Cena just aren't the pair to be feuding with each other, Trish-Mickie, basically the best part of the show, is being bogged down by frigging Ashley for Lord knows what reason, Vince selling Shawn cocaine is not interesting, and Masters and Carlito are SOOOO bad.

 

On the other hand, Booker and Sharmell rock, Benoit is still awesome, Angle vs. Henry is fun, MNM is interesting, JBL is making me interested in a Boogeyman feud, Rey really looks like a title contender, and as of right now, Orton is a midcarder.

 

Now, if it comes down to the Raw God Push of HHH vs. The Smackdown God Push of Orton, things may change.

Smackdown is just plain better. Problem is the timeslot. Even I sometimes have things to do on a Friday night.

Smackdown is exponentially better. Raw has a grand total of one stellar worker on their roster (Guerrero, who is usually relegated to Heat), features two guys who can't work in their main program, a stale HHH as their top star, perhaps the worst wrestler in the company returning at the Rumble, Shawn Michaels burrying midcarders, shitty matches, no undercard (seriously... EVERYONE is a heel... who the fuck is supposed to feud?), and while the women's matches are layed out nicely and have compelling story lines... they're still women's matches (meaning they're unbearably sloppy).

 

Smackdown has been great as of late. Benoit carrying that chode Orton to the best match of his career two weeks ago, Mysterio putting out a fun match every week, MNM being the best tag team in the WWE in forever, Mark Henry being an awesome big man, Finlay beating the fuck out of pussys, Booker T and Sharmell's shtick... it's just been phenominal lately.

HHH is not currently Raw's top star and hasn't been so for 3 quarters of a year now...sure someday he'll be there again, but he currently is not.

 

and I've gone on record numerous times with my dislike of RVD, but he's hardly the worst wrestler they have, not as long as Chris Masters still appears.
