FAN 590 said that a long time ago, must not be too credible or else people would have caught onto it. Elias replaced Prucha on the Czech team today. Now their gold medal hype is warranted. My preview column for the Olympics will be up Sunday night, I'll be putting lots of pictures and shit into it. You guys will like the format.

I think it comes out Thursday. I'll let you know when its up.

I didn't have anything to do with the hockey (except type up the rosters, coaches), but I've done the medal predictions for every other medal sport.

This despite not knowing about 75% of the sports

Ok. I'll give it a read, and I've gotta start mine on Wednesday. It's going to be huge, but I'll only be putting up key players, not entire rosters, and the groups they're in. No schedule, takes up too much space.

Hey look, the Pens are losing.

I wonder if it would even be worth it to play Over/Under on the Sens/Pens game. What are the official odds?

I'm surprised though; it was pretty much a close game goal-wise (I missed most of the first 2 periods).

Eric just saved a bunch of money on his car insurance by switching to Geico. Hey it's so easy that even a caveman can do it...that means Lindros might be able to figure it out somehow.

Rick Tocchet is in BIG TROUBLE.

Coyotes' Tocchet implicated in sports gambling ring

Associated Press

EWING, N.J. -- Phoenix Coyotes assistant coach Rick Tocchet financed a nationwide sports gambling ring in which about a dozen current NHL players placed bets, authorities said Tuesday.

Rick Tocchet is expected to travel to New Jersey to respond to gambling charges.

Tocchet, a former NHL star, was served with a criminal complaint Monday and was expected to travel from his Arizona home to answer charges of promoting gambling, money laundering and conspiracy, state police Col. Rick Fuentes said.

Fuentes said an investigation into the New Jersey-based ring discovered the processing of more than 1,000 wagers, exceeding $1.7 million, on professional and college sports, mostly football and baseball. He declined to identify the NHL players who made wagers.

Authorities said Tocchet and state police Trooper James J. Harney were partners in the operation, with the ex-NHL forward providing the financing.

A message left with the Coyotes' media office in Arizona was not immediately returned. The Coyotes were home Tuesday night against Chicago.

Tocchet, one of three associate coaches on the Coyotes' staff, took over the head coaching duties for 10 days in December while Wayne Gretzky was away to be with his dying mother.

The 41-year-old Tocchet played 18 years with six teams, including three seasons with the Coyotes from 1997-2000. He is one of only two players in NHL history to collect 400 goals and 2,000 penalty minutes during his career.

The 40-year-old Harney was arrested Monday. The eight-year police veteran was charged in an arrest warrant with official misconduct, promoting gambling, money laundering and conspiracy. Another man accused of taking bets is James A. Ulmer, 40, who was charged with promoting gambling, money laundering and conspiracy.

Both men were free on bail. They are expected to be arraigned within two weeks.

Read both links guys, this is really bad.

That's cause she, Mark Recchi and Jeremy Roenick are suspected to be involved.

Tocchet said it was football related, but I don't know if he's telling the truth.

The cops are saying about a half dozen hockey players. Right now, they don't think Tocchet bet on hockey.

My assingment editor is on the phone and it sounds like he just found out some juicy rumours. I wish he was on speaker phone!

Okay just got the big rumour-

Could be 24 players, including 2 GMS and possibly Gretzky, Mrs. Gretzky and Barnett.

This is just a rumour of course

Fuck, I don't even know why I'm fucking watching this shit anymore. I can't take it.

You know how it was like in Boston about firing Sully earlier this year? It's like that in LA with Andy Murray amongst hockey fans. This is another "March to the Playoffs" in which they lost a shitload of games, but it's in February and I'm fucking sick of it.

Murray's a good coach, but everyone's sick and tired of his fucking methods and mind games.

For the first time in my life, I'm embarassed to be a Kings fan. It's gone so far that I'm wearing a paper bag over my head when I go to the game on Sunday, which also happens to be a ceremony for Luc Robitaille. Pathetic.

That also happened to be the game in which Tomas Kaberle showed more emotion than he ever had before. I liked that.

re: The gambling situation ... I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I really don't think that athletes gambing on sports (as long as it's not the one that they play) is that terrible. The punishment for the active players, or even Gretzky, should be minimal. Tocchet, on the other hand, is likely fucked, since he could be facing money laundering charges. And, most importantly, the pervert in me is thinking that Janet Jones + women's prison = hawt.

Here's my ridiculous Sabres statistic of the day:

Ryan Miller

Since returning to the lineup on 12/19/05:

·named 1st star in 8 of 15 games

·allowed exactly 1 goal in 8 of 15 games

·allowed 2 or fewer in 11 of 15 games

·allowed 0 3rd period goals in 11 of 15 games

·allowed 1 or fewer 3rd period goals in 14 of 15 games

On the season:

·has been to OT 4 times and has not allowed a goal—ALL WINS

·has been to shootout 3 times, faced 9 shooters, allowed 1 to score (Forsberg)- ALL WINS

...

Marty is never getting that job back.

There's nothing to be constructive about when their last win was against Atlanta and the one before that was in Boston a month ago. Also, they were 2nd in the West after beating Dallas on New Year's eve, now headed out of the playoff picture. I love my team, not their coach.

Win in regulation that is. When they're playing teams in the conference every night, they can't be giving them points in overtime.
