The One and Only Raw Thread for February 27th, 2006

Foley had actually decided to go with the TNA deal, but changed his mind at almost the last minute thanks to one of Vince’s infamous talks. It wasn’t the money that swayed him, it was Vince.

And the people criticizing Foley for going with WWE have a point. Foley going to TNA would have been a huge shot in the arm for them and would have given TNA a big credibility boost. While there is no guarantee Foley would have turned TNA around, Foley would have definitely helped them in that regard, and it would have helped them become more of a threat to Vince. Granted, it wouldn’t have been that much of a threat at first, but any threat to Vince invariably makes him try harder, and that along would have been thing as it would have raised the quality of his product, and I don’t see how anyone can complain about that. Foley going with WWE just enforces the status quo, and I don't think anyone wants that.

But why exactly was it Foley's responsibility to be the catalyst for the turn around?

Who said it was? The point being made is that Foley could have made the choice, and did before being charmed by Vince, to be part of something that could have helped wrestling as a whole grow. But he didn't. Is it that hard for people to see why Foley not doing something that could have helped wrestling would make some people ticked off?

Why is Mick Foley supposed to go help Jarrett's Vanity Promotion? The guy went back to WWE, where the $ is, and I have no problem with that. I'd make the same decision if I was him.

The guy did a lot for ROH, and even worked a show for free. There's no reason to criticise a guy for not helping a lesser promotion.

Yes, I see your point, HTQ. More high-profile and recognizable names would no doubt help TNA get stronger, and that would make for better competition, and that would make Vince and Co. possibly think harder and come out of the "funk" they're supposedly in at the moment.

But what guarantees that these high-profile and recognizable names would make a dent on their new promotion? What guarantees they'll be used correctly as so to make new stars or whatever?

For example, I know tons of people are complainin that smark favorite CM Punk signed with WWE and is now working OVW. Why couldn't he sign with TNA? He was there already! Doing tag matches in a feud with Raven, that certainly put him over.

Some want Jericho to go to TNA. To do what? To win their World Title? I'm sure most would want him to put over talent, so in short, that means to job most often than not, which no doubt few would like.

TNA's got Sting to a big money deal. Yipee. So far he's wrestled once and announced his retirement. Boy, he's making a great job putting over new talent while sitting at home counting his money for doing next to zip.

Others wanted Foley to sign with TNA. That's all good and dandy. He's a star who's still got it in the ring when he wants to, although reading some posts here you wouldn't be able to tell, and he could be put to use to put over other upcoming stars, specially somebody like Samoa Joe. I for one think that Joe is doing extremely well right now without Foley's help.

It seems like the cool thing to do now is to bash anybody and everybody that prefers signing with WWE over any other promotion because "everybody" knows that WWE isn't cutting it anymore and is going down the drain. God forbid Jericho returns to WWE, else he be bashed to the ground like there's no tomorrow.

Foley signed with WWE, not TNA. Deal with it. He could've done some interesting things in Orlando but he's not. That doesn't make him an idiot. He'll be in a high-profile match with Edge at WrestleMania. Maybe some consider that the stupid thing to do for whatever reason. I do not. I still enjoy Foley wether he's in WWE or not, and will be watching him at Mania this year.

Sorry for the rant. Maybe I'll qualify again for TSM brings the idiocy or something.

It's not hard to see it, but it doesn't make it any less stupid.

Another live note from the show. Carlito is really getting over, but Chris Masters has NO heat. Time to pull the plug on that one

Not surprised by this. Carlito it appears has started including more moves into his matches (guess the WWE brass allowed him too) and I am finding him to be one of the funniest guys on the microphone in the WWE at the moment. If he keeps this up he could be approaching Rock levels in the next year or so.

Then again, I totally expect the WWE to push the hell out of Masters anyway since they keep talking about him becoming "the youngest ever WWE Champion" and it wouldn't surprise me if he gets the Batista treatment with HHH by WM 23 next year. Of course, this would have the WWE overlook Carlito but there's no way he'll be the #1 heel on RAW with HHH at the helm so his best shot is to get drafted back over to Smackdown! which is where the WWE should send Cena this summer as well after his feud with the "King of Kings."

You said they have a point for being upset with Foley. Why? Why was it Mick Foley's obligation to help a promotion that is too stupid to keep the belt off JEFF JARRETT for any significant period of time. Why do people have the right to be upset with him Foley for not going out of his way to help them?
