jwpeer Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Larry Walker declined Their star player is Jason Bay...so I'm officially rooting for canada to win being a pirates fan. Plus it'll be cool to see Canada in the second round
naiwf Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Pedro's not surprising. He's such a poor Spring pitcher that he probably wouldn't benefit the D.R. even if he did pitch. And Vlad Guerrero has a legitimate reason. No he didn't.....Vladimir didn't even come to the country to be at his cousins' funeral. He just used it as an excuse So because he didn't go to the funeral he can't possibly be mourning? The USA losing to Canada is unacceptable.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Walker is the hitting coach. He's not really in playing shape anymore. Canada is up 3-0 now.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Im getting ready to start drawing comparisons between Carlito coming up with the Money in the Bank match at WM and not even making it and Team USA not making the 2nd Round of the WBC. That would be outright hillarious.
Kahran Ramsus Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Just curious. If Canada beats USA, USA beats South Africa, Mexico beats Canada & South Africa, which two teams advance?
Brett Favre Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Whoever gave up less ERs. Or whoever scored more ERs. Not sure which.
Vern Gagne Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Why the fuck is Al Leiter on the team? There are plenty of left-handed relievers who would of gladly signed on to replace Wagner.
naiwf Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Just curious. If Canada beats USA, USA beats South Africa, Mexico beats Canada & South Africa, which two teams advance? At this rate Canada and Mexico since you guys are on pace to mercy rule us. I think we know what the lead on SportsCenter will be tonight.
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Just curious. If Canada beats USA, USA beats South Africa, Mexico beats Canada & South Africa, which two teams advance? The team allowing the fewest runs per nine innings (RA/9) in head-to-head games between the tied teams. So, the US is in decent shape since they shut out Mexico. But, hopefully Canada puts the mercy rule on them today.
Vern Gagne Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Show some fucking enthusiasm. It doesn't even look like the US care about winning.
naiwf Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 The US is done if Mexico wins the next 2 games.
2GOLD Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Show some fucking enthusiasm. It doesn't even look like the US care about winning. They aren't playing for money. It kinda eliminates alot of the Team USA spirit. It's now 7-0 Canada. Nice, the Canada team that struggled to put up 6 on South Africa has roughed up Team USA. Remind me again WHY Clemens is pitching against SA?
Guest Smues Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Now that the Cuba game is over can't one of the ESPNs switch to PTI? Edit: aha they were waiting for the commercial break.

Remind me again WHY Clemens is pitching against SA? Just a hunch, but they were probably "saving" him for the next start. Now, typical American thinking means they assumed we'd cruise into the next round instead of having the foresight to load the deck in the first 2 games so that the third one really didn't matter given that a loss to RSA wouldn't have affected our seeding unless they managed to beat someone else too. 7 ER allowed here means we're negative 5 against Mexico already, and knowing Canada, I suspect that they will lay down to the Mexis just to eliminate the Americans at their own game, which is a genius tactic.
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Damnit, I wish I went to this now! Viva Canadia.

Guest Princess Leena Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 The US is done if Mexico wins the next 2 games. Probably not. Unless this really gets out of hand. Canadia's strength seems to be in their hitting, not in their pitching. The game vs. Mexico has a good chance of being high scoring.
CanadianChris Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Wow, I haven't seen an inside-the-park home run in quite some time. Awesome.
devo Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 That was damn cool. There wasn't even a play at the plate.
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Strong fielding from the US today.
naiwf Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 So now that we have failed at basketball and baseball what international competition should we invent to feel good about ourselves? I'm thinking Ultimate Frisbee since we'd surely lose to those soccer countries at something like hacky sack and the Asians would beat us in almost any mental game.
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 World Football Classic. Although, a Samoan team may take the US there too.
2GOLD Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 World NASCAR and MONSTER TRUCK Classic. Course then we'd lose to a South American country. To be serious, Team USA has the offensive unit to come back. If not and USA doesn't advance, how much you wanna bet that A-Rod takes the blame? And as an example of the offense, USA on the board. 8-1.
naiwf Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Who would have guessed that Griffey would be the one American ready to play this early in the year?
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 If not and USA doesn't advance, how much you wanna bet that A-Rod takes the blame? It's already a given that wins are because of Jeter, and losses are because of A-Rod.
