franchise632 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Ok so I just got a new laptop through school and I want to be able to use the wireless internet feature while I am at home. I need to buy a wireless router but know much about them. I dont have a ton of money I was looking to spend no more then like $75. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Get a Linksys WRT54G at Best Buy. Probably will have rebates that make it $40 or $50 after the fact. It's done me nothing but greatness, and works all through a regular sized house. If you're looking at a really big house, consider a MIMO-type router. Sveasoft is a alternate firmware that you can run on your router to give you more configuration options. http://sveasoft.com/ *And it does run on the GS and GL. franchise632 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 I dont know much about this stuff. Is Sveasoft something that I would have to have to get it to work? I just need it to work in my rather smallish apt. Sideburnious 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2006 I'd recommend getting a Netgear DG834G or a Thompson Speedtouch 576, but thats mainly because they're easy to setup (as long as you have basic computer knowledge) and well....I know how to set them up. Perfxion 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2006 I have a belkin G with a notebook adapter and a USB adapter for my PC all for like $70.00 on sale at CompUSA. If you want a BASIC router, you get no moe BASIC than the standard Belkin G. For X-mas when two more PCs get added to the router, I am upgrading to a MIMO or Pre-N.
