Gracie vs. Shamrock ongoing updates

The show has started and Dave will be calling in with results throughout the night. So far, nothing major has happened ("no one has done anything stupid") as everyone, as noted elsewhere, has been told to be on their best behavior.

Scott Graham just beat Chris Yee. Two local guys. Nick Diaz's brother was set to fight next, and the crowd booed Diaz unmercifully when they figured out who he was. Smart crowd this evening.

Diaz's brother, I believe Nathan, beat Anthony Juarez in the first round via ground and pound when the Honorable Herb Dean stopped the fight.

Crafton Wallace beat Ray Rouff. Wallace is a Muay Thai champion. He hit a knee to the chin in 35 seconds of the second round. Rouff was an undefeated wrestler and got in some great throws, but then gassed out late in the round. Crowd is very lively. Biggest pop was when Jimmy Lennon came out and said this was the first show in California (well, sanctioned). Last match was really good. Wallace was the first one to not listen to the commission. He jumped on the cage and celebrated after his win, which was prohibited in the rules meeting, so he may be fined and suspended.

Gilbert Melendez beat Harrison Sarmiento in 34 seconds of round two via ground and pound tapout. Puder is up next. Melendez is known in the MMA world, but the Puder fight is the first one the crowd will probably go nuts for. No one knows the order of the matches as there isn’t a program or anything.

Daniel Puder choked out Jesse Fujarcyk immediately. Unreal reaction. Biggest of the night, by far, as in Rock and Austin level. WWE blew it. Unbelievable charisma coming to the ring. Beat the living hell out of the guy. Official time was 1:54.

Brian Ebersole beat Matt Horwich via unanimous decision. Kind of a boring fight. Ebersole did quite the show with a ring entrance. Came out talking on a cell phone and told the folks to be quiet. That got over huge.

Mike Kyle vs. THE EXPERIMENT Krzystof Soszynski, who is 5-10 and ripped at 250, is next. He's said to look like the Warlord. Maybe Kyle can drive to the ring in a milk truck. Soszynski, from Poland, may gas quickly, so we may be back up again in about two minutes.

Official attendance is 18265. WOW.

Well, it was over fast. THE EXPERIMENT~! was gassing, but then Kyle accidentally thumbed him in the eye and it was ruled a no-contest. The Experiment was looking for a way out, though, as he was gasping for breath and taking hard leg kicks. The thumb was certainly accidental. Kyle was super over. Very pro-wrestling crowd. They decide who the babyface is and then boo the hell out of the other guy. I guess dudes from Poland are heels.

Eugene Jackson vs. Jorge Ortiz is next.

Eugene Jackson beat Jorge Ortiz via unanimous decision. Boring fight. When the folks don't like a fight tonight they boo like crazy. They really hated this one and let everyone know

Clay Guida beat Josh Thompson via decision after five rounds for the WORLD~! Lightweight Championship. Excellent match that the people gave a standing ovation to afterwards. All on the ground. Chuck Norris is there to present the belt to the winner. It's his birthday today, by the way. There were people booing this decision for some reason.

CUNG LE~! is next!

Cung Le beat Mike Altman did a spin kick to the chest and a punch to the face and its over. The place went nuts for the knockout, biggest pop of the night for sure. They showed a replay and the punch was right to the jaw. Cung Le did a back flip afterwards and everyone loved that. He pretty much tore down the house. Totally one-sided, never went to the ground.

SHAMROCK VS. GRACIE IS NEXT, KIDS~!

Shamrock massacred Cesar in about 30 seconds. It was pretty obvious within about 10 seconds that it was over. I stand corrected. Official time was 21 seconds. Punch to the jaw finish. "Knocked him the hell out." Gracie has huge lump under his right eye. Confetti is falling from the sky. VIVA~! They booed the hell out of Cesar coming out. A very vicious crowd. Everyone who wasn't from San Jose was a heel, flat out. The AP and San Jose Mercury were both there, but apparently left before the main events. The story was apparently the record crowd, not the results.

Any (blood) relation to Frank Shamrock?
