Rumored LockDown matches

Recommended Posts

Mike Johnson posted this:

The lineup for the 4/23 Lockdown PPV (all Six Sides of Steel matches) in Orlando, Florida looks to be:

*Sting & Rhino & Ron Killings & a mystery partner (AJ Styles?) vs. Jeff Jarrett & America's Most Wanted & Scott Steiner in a Wargames style match

*NWA champion Christian Cage vs. Abyss

*Samoa Joe vs. Sabu in what I believe is their first-ever match

*Bob Armstrong vs. Konnan - Arm Wrestling

TNA X-Division champion Christopher Daniels will also defend his championship. I had heard TNA was attempting to bring in an outside name from Japan for the show, but have not heard if anyone is confirmed.

It is also expected that Raven will be back to continue his feud with Larry Zbyszko shortly. At Lockdown, it is expected the two will face off in either a Blindfold match or a hair vs. hair match.

I gotta say it looks like TNA is really screwing the pooch again with LockDown this year. They've been building the 3D title win since October...how do they justify putting AMW in that pointless 8 man instead of ending a 6 month blood feud at the supposed "blowoff" ppv? I already said how stupid I thought it was for Christian and Abyss to be starting a feud at an all-cage PPV, no matter how much ass I think the feud will kick. Ditto Joe and Sabu. Joe should be ending his feud with AJ and Daniels here, THEN moving onto Sabu. Again, 6 months of building for nothing. After last year's show, we said if they didn't overexpose the cage, then this PPV could really mean something. And they didn't a great job setting up to be a big night, but as it stands, it looks like it'll be just another ppv. They might as well not even bother putting the cage up with those matches scheduled, because none of them deserve that gimmick.

Thoughts?

Alex Shelly and Eric Young should be in the Wargames instead of AMW. Milano Collection AT needs to be the japanese special guest to get the title shot against Fallen Angel.

i agree about the 3d situation, just stick the titles on them and leave it be. stick shelly and someone else (perhaps young as that would make sense) in the 8 man war.

and is it just me? or has jarret become obssesed with these 8 man war things?

*Bob Armstrong vs. Konnan - Arm Wrestling

Based on the six man match at Destination X Konnan will probably lose this clean in a few seconds. I mean, who booked the guy to have no offence on the sixty year old?

If you think Christian and Abyss will "kick ass" why don't you just sit back and enjoy it even though you think it will be stupid? Too much considering what will happen down the line, what it means to a push, whatever, shouldn't be your primary concern as a viewer or fan.

'Cause Konnan's knee is so bad he can't even walk?

To follow up on the War Games match, apparently the going plan is to have various weapons sent down from the rafters and then they would be up for grabs to whoever whenever. This was reported in the Observer this week. I dont know how they anticipate for the workers to get the weapons, meaning it could be something like a War Games ladder match kind of thing. Still not very excited about it, like most here, I agree AMW needs to be in a match v. Duds and then move Young and Shelley into War Games. It just makes sense. Also, I would like to think Goldberg might be the mystery man, although Observer stated that it will likely just be Styles. IMO Styles should not be in the War Games match at all.

Also, apparently the running word is Duds v. Team Canada cage rematch. Yay.

Because I'd enjoy it more if it was booked properly. As it stands, I think it'll kick ass because of the workers, not the booking, which was what I was complaining about.

Latest Rumor is Tiger Mask IV is gonna be Daniel's opponent. I don't watch non-US wrestling. How is he?

Hit-and-miss. He used to be pretty good and worked hard, but since joining New Japan he's gotten lazy and only cranks it up once in a while. If TM is motivated, it could be very good. If not, then *** max.

So still better than 86% of the WWE's programming?

This whole show, the concept is horrible and the execution doesnt seem like it's going to improve anything.

TigerMask IV/Angel? That's cool but it shouldn't be in a cage. Cages, have historically been built for blood feuds. Not for international "dream" matches and arm-wrestling challenges. Arm-wrestling inside a cage? Stupid. Blind-fold match? really dumb.

If they want to use this concept ppv, they should only have 5-6 matches. Matches that have a purpose.

I would have done AMW/Dudleyz to finally blow that off, do the war-games styled main event (4 on 4) with Cage, Sting, Killings, Rhino and Vs Jarrett, Brown, Abyss, and Steiner.

Joe/Sabu isn't that bad of a move because Sabu can bump and Joe can dish that out and it's different then another 3 way.

AJ/Daniels: The final showdown with years of story building to the epic conclusion.

LAX vs James Gang (without Konnan or daddy involved).

Then a six man mayhem with Lethal, Shelley (who would be involved in the war-games match build up), Dutt, Sabin, Bentley and ? (insert any x worker)

That's 2 tag team programs being blown off, a match that would cement Joe in the heavyweight ranks, a blow-off from the long running AJ/Daniels program and a main event with the big stars in a match that's suited for them and saves a couple main events for other shows. You also get your fun spot-fest x match as well.

Still, couldn't he have gotten at least one shot in on the guy?

People have been wondering why they've booked joe against Sabu. Personally i think it's a good move as Sabu is the "bottom of the heavyweight divsion". it's better to have him work his way up the ladder rather than facing the top guys in the division.

And on another note, im glad daniels isn't facing AJ, as myslef, and my housemates who i make watch TNA are sick of seeing daniels against AJ. time to give some of the other X stars a push for the title.

and armstronng against konnan is a pointless waste of time that belongs on xplosion or impact at a push.

RE: Arm wrestling in a cage ... hopefully they take a page out of WCCW's book and use the scenario as a set-up for a beat-down in the cage. I feel like Fritz was beaten by heels on an annual basis after being handcuffed to a cage ... LAX could sneak in, lock the door, cuff Armstrong and beat the hell out of him, using the cage as a way to prevent James' from making the save.

Yeah, it'd be a waste of time on a PPV, but so is an arm wrestling challenge in the first place.

Not blowing off AMW/3D, and the arm wrestling, are the only major problems I have.

AMW/3D is ready to be blown off, and this is a perfect time for a bloody violent cage blow off. Team Canada can easily replace AMW in the War Games.

The arm wrestling will only be acceptable if it's a set up for LAX finally destroying Bullet Bob.

If Christian can do half the job AJ did against Abyss in their Lockdown match last year, this will be a worthy download. Not feeling anything else here... and hopefully they don't do AJ/Daniels for the 1242343th time.

Who'd buy it that this is their "final showdown" though? these two see each other more often than married people do

Personally, it should be good, i was disapointed in the shortness of the BFG match.

Lockdown is not TNA's blow-off PPV. Slammiversary is. Lockdown is just a gimmick ppv. The card looks good to me, unfortunately after last year, it's just not interesting enough to me to order, but I'll get the DVD

No it sounds like Lockdown is bigger of an event than Slammiversary. BFG is the biggest though.

Too bad TNA fucked up on their version of Wrestlemania last year by relying on Nash for a World title match when something happened to him the day before and TNA had to scramble for new ideas, though.

Japanese legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger will not appear at the TNA Lockdown PPV on 4/23 in Orlando, Florida, where he was scheduled to challenge TNA X-Division champion Christopher Daniels.

According to a source in Japan, there was a communication snafu when Liger was booked, and he'll be remaining in Japan to appear on the New Japan tour that week instead of traveling to the United States. I was told the error was not made by TNA, but by someone on the New Japan side.

TNA has already removed the Liger vs. Daniels match from their Lockdown website and are expected to announce the replacement match shortly, with a Gauntlet bout the most likely option
