I'm surprised that after the first period that it was 1-1 after Ottawa made 16 shots on Abby in the first.

Higgins, Koivu and Ryder is probably the most feared line in the last month of hockey lately, and now with Kovalev scoring some points and Riberio with four tonight and Bulis who has 20 goals (W00T!).

This is just awesome.

Words can't accurately display my frustration.

Now, for the offseason, where the Kings will get one of Luongo, Sakic, Chara, Redden, Lidstrom, McCabe (dear God, I pray not) or Jovanovski and either Weight, Blake, Arnott, Langenbrunner or Gerber. They'll probably trade Frolov too.

I hate this.

FRUSTRATED ISN'T A GODDAMN WORD FOR IT. THIS IS BULLSHIT

(Gets out of Bret Hart mode)

Edmonton got robbed tonight. Peca clearly scored but they rushed through the decision and went no goal.

Pittsburgh could be moved to Hartford!

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Massachusetts developer wants to buy the Penguins and either keep the hockey team in the city or move them to Hartford, Conn., where he is trying to get state officials to build a new arena, a newspaper reported Friday.

Lawrence Gottesdiener told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that he owns a great deal of property in Hartford, so moving the team there makes sense for him.

"I see a really exciting future for that team," Gottesdiener told the newspaper. "If it can't be worked out in Pittsburgh ... we have a really huge real estate portfolio in Hartford."

Then Penguins had no comment on the story Friday.

"As a policy, we're not going to comment and we're not going to confirm or deny any of these inquiries," said Penguins spokesman Tom McMillan.

Late last year, Gottesdiener told Connecticut officials that he had a plan to bring an NHL team to the city if they would help him build a new 16,000-seat arena in Hartford, where his company, Northland Investment Corp., of Newton, Mass., owns about $500 million US worth of real estate.

The Penguins' lease on 45-year-old Mellon Arena, the oldest and smallest in the NHL, expires at the end of next season. Penguins owner Mario Lemieux is trying to sell the team and he has said a new owner would likely move out of Pittsburgh without a new arena.

There are two proposals to build a new arena for the team in Pittsburgh.

Both proposals are tied to gambling. Three companies are now seeking the right to open a slot machine parlor in Pittsburgh. Only one will win a license from the state to do so.

One of the companies, Isle of Capri Casinos, has agreed to pay the entire cost for a new one if it is awarded the licence.

City, county and state officials have countered with a backup plan that would require the Penguins to pay $8.5 million up front and make annual lease payments of $2.9 million. That plan calls for contributions from whichever gambling company wins the slots parlour licence.

Penguins representatives Thursday discussed the backup plan with city and county officials.

A Penguins consultant, David Morehouse, told the newspaper after that meeting that the team didn't learn enough about the proposal to decide whether to accept the alternative arena plan.

"There are still a number of questions that have to be answered before we can determine if it's viable," Morehouse said.

Among other things, he said it's not clear if Governor Ed Rendell could legally use slot machine proceeds to help fund the arena or whether another casino company would agree to contribute.

Hartford lost its NHL franchise when the Whalers moved to North Carolina and were renamed the Carolina Hurricanes.

Gottesdiener called the Penguins "an excellent entry point to get into the NHL. We've said that we're in this to buy an NHL team."

The Kings damn sure won't get Nick Lidstrom, he's the next captain of the Red Wings, and he's gonna be a Wing until he retires. I don't see them getting Sakic for the same reason. However, I don't think the Sens will be able to keep both Redden and Chara (which sucks ass, one bad thing about the cap), so they could possibly sign one of those two with Ottawa keeping the other

I would assume that Hartford would still be in the Atlantic Division, but I mean they had some good games against Beantown and Montreal years back.

Yeah, just move one of the Florida teams or whatever. Not a historical franchise like Pittsburgh.

If Pittsburgh loses the Pens, it's their own damn fault. They didn't want to build them a new rink.

I just listed the big UFA's, even though I know Lidstrom and Sakic aren't leaving their respective teams.

I know the Kings are going to do something big, which while exciting, is frustrating.

There should, at the least, be an asterisk on that statement. The Pens have done quite a bit as far as rallies and petitions to keep the team...utlimately, you're right, however.

I thought the Avs at the beginning of the year weren't exercising on any options on keeping Sakic any more.

After the way he's played this year, he'll probably test the FA market, then re-sign with Colorado. He's their franchise, they shouldn't let him go.

If the playoffs started today Calgary and Edmonton would be playing against each other in the first round.

CBC is hoping for Calgary-Edmonton and Ottawa-Montreal in the first round. That way, they get two series of guaranteed high ratings, and two Canadian teams for sure in the second round.

More fun involving Sean Avery. :)

This time, he has a run-in with Anaheim announcer Brian Hayward.

Avery confronts NHL broadcaster Hayward

LOS ANGELES (CP) - Sean Avery can't seem to get enough of the spotlight.

The Los Angeles Kings player had a heated verbal exchange with Anaheim broadcaster and former NHL goalie Brian Hayward in the dressing room Friday before players and media.

Hayward, a former Montreal Canadiens goalie, criticized Avery during Tuesday's Anaheim broadcast and accused him of running away from a confrontation with the Ducks' Todd Fedoruk. Hayward was doing prep work for Saturday's Ducks-Kings game on NBC when he visited the Kings' dressing room Friday, only to be welcomed by a profanity-laced tirade from Avery, according to the Los Angeles Times. Hayward stood his ground.

"You're an embarrassment," the Times quoted Avery as saying and Hayward responded by saying, "You want to see an embarrassment? Look in the mirror, Sean."

Avery walked towards Hayward at one point but was pulled away by assistant coach Ray Bennett.

"You're the reason the league doesn't have a national television deal. You're a (terrible) announcer and you were a (terrible) player," Avery said during the exchange.

Hayward responded: "How would you know? When I played, you were in your third year of eighth grade."

Avery has been in and out of hot water all year long:

- In pre-season, Avery said a hit by then-Phoenix defenceman Denis Gauthier on Kings centre Jeremy Roenick "was typical of most French guys in our league with a visor on, running around and playing tough and not back anything up."

- In an October game, Avery was accused by Edmonton's Georges Laraque of using a racial slur.

- He was the first NHL player this season to be fined $1,000 US for diving and reacted by hammering the league for it.

"How can a guy sitting in an office in New York determine if you dived or not by watching a tape?" Avery said. "They don't know if you had a bad ankle or torn bursa sac or something. I can't even tell you what play they are talking about. They don't have to tell you a play, just what game they are looking at.

"No question that this is a way (for the league) to do something to me. It has nothing to do with diving. How can Colin Campbell, or whoever it is, sit at a desk and make that call? They should send the tape to all seven members of the competition committee and let them look at it."

I was hoping someone else would post this, cause I was about to. This was a long time coming, and Gayward deserved it. He's the worst commentator in the league.

I love Sean Avery. Who else would say torn bursa sac?

Something tells me Avery's going to do something during the game that gets him suspended for the rest of the season.

Jarko Immomen with his 2nd goal in two games since being called up from Hardford. FUCK Betts let him Jarko stay in the lineup when Rucchin comes back. He can do just as good defensivley as Betts but can ACTUALLY score.
