Torrents

Recommended Posts

Basically just find a client, which is the program to download files. BitTorrent has the basic one but there are better ones out there. Find a site that hosts the torents (The Pirate Bay or TorrentSpy are a start). Click on the links provided for the files and the download should start within minutes. If it doesn't, it means that there are little or no people seeding (sharing) the file. That's the most common reason why files have little to no download rate. If you have lots of seeders, you should be good to go with any file you download. I also thought it would be difficult when I first found out about it but it's quite simple. The only hard part is finding decent files with seeders but after that it's all smooth sailing.

Other clients can be found in the pinned file sharing thread.

And after finishing a download, try to keep the program open or come back to it later on, since there'll still be others looking to finish their own download. Good torrent etiquette.

From the "should I order the WM replay" thread:

Save your $50. Reading the recaps are good enough. And you can download it for free tomorrow anyway

Where?

Most likely a torrent, and I think there is a site called wrestlingtorrent.com or something to get them from...

Can someone please tell me how the fuck I'm supposed to navigate that site? I mean, suppose I want to find a torrent for a match (or a show, if you can't get individual matches); where am I supposed to look? The only thing that I can figure out on that wrestlingtorrents.com site are a bunch of links to other websites that don't appear to have anything to do with wrestling torrents.

Many of the best torrent sites have registration required but that also means that they host good files and require you to share to stay on. I gather that PWTorrents closed their site for new members to avoid the flood of people signing up just to download WrestleMania. If you're looking for it, search WrestleMania at isohunt.com and you'll find it.

I like

torrentspy

mininova.org

isohunt

piratebay

bitenova

In the last few weeks I've downloaded.

Six Feet Under seasons 3-5

Jeremiah season 2

Arrested Development season 3

Deadwood season 2

Prison Break eps 1-15

Hostel

The Devil's Rejects

New Sopranos eps

I like torrent downloading...and yeah, keep em open for a little while after finishing. Especially stuff like Jeremiah, that not many people have.

Heh...4 seeders, nearly 5000 leechers.

Okay, now that I think I understand the basics of downloading, here's my next question:

Now that I've finished with my download, suppose I want to share the wealth... suppose I even have some other files that I think other people might want... how do *I* "seed" a file?

There should be a Create Torrent command somewhere in the client you're using. For example in BitLord, it's File > Create Torrent.

Also using BitLord as an example, if you don't clear a torrent once you've finished downloading it, other people can download it from your computer.

BitTornado doesn't appear to have such an ability; or, if it does, I don't know how to get to it... I opened up the application to try and create a .torrent file, and it asked me what torrent I wanted to open. I didn't want to open one, so I didn't pick one, and the application closed itself.
