DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Thanks Bobby Lashley, JBL, Rey, and Brian Kendrick! They shot me right up to 1st in the league for the week #1 (and 227th overall, which isn't bad). Answer to above: Uh, just don't pick RVD.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I forgot that I had Lashley on my team this week, but I had a couple of guys bomb for me. I thought King Booker would have been on TV more and for the life of me I can't understand why I picked up Gunner Scott. Also I am in 17th place and that is not cool. Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 So since there were 2 kanes, do we get double points for apperance and finishing move?
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Nope. Only 9 points for Kane. 46 for HHH. Wow. Chloe was still the big winner this week, with 2 appearances! 6 points for $500k.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 *Pats slef on back* Glad I picked up HHH this weekend.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Most of us had HHH. Except O-Sault. I barely took him myself. I had a super Raw, everyone I had hit pretty big. If my group of SD tag team/cruiser jobbers has matches, I might be near 1st. Holla.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I wish Mickie James and RVD would have gotten some more points (3 each), but I got decent points out of HHH/Shelton/Cena and I moved up to 28th. Hopefully Lashley and Mysterio score some points on Smackdown.
JHawk 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Well, I had a horrible Raw, and since there's still no SD preview I'm not liking my odds.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I'm still in 2nd but damn I got screwed up this week. I had Beth this week and she didn't get any finishing move points. Her and Torrie Wilson got the same amount of points. Which sucks because that Falcon arrow has to be Beth's finisher. Kane only got 9 points, I think since there were kanes, he made two apperances and since each one gave a chokeslam that should be double the points. Damn WWE and their really odd booking and damnit why couldn't the ref call for the bell for a DQ! Shelton should have been a DQ'ed, since Kane was attacked before the match was actual over. Kenny got 14 points so thats not to shabby. But my picks with Kane, RVD, and Nicky really screwed me over. All under 10 points. I really need my Smackdown team to pick things up. Come on Finlay, Booker T, and Lashly
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I'm still in first in our league but they may change after SD (I only have 3 guys - Lashley, Booker, and Kendrick - hoping for two title defenses there). Unless Finlay does some huge numbers compared to Kendrick, I'm at least guaranteed to still be ahead of my current rival Scroby. The mighty seem to have fallen, Ortonsault. It's early though.
Jebus 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 You've gotta study your opponents, grasshoppers. Ortonsault VERY rarely picks the "5 million dollar superstars". If he smells a title win, he might pick one. Don't get cocky...He'll bounce back. As for me (currently in 19th place), HHH was too good to pass up. Umaga and Kenny delivered. RVD was a DUD. Thankfully, I went Smackdown heavy this week and could climb higher. Rough start for last season's runner-up, though.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Unless a $5 million guy is definitely going to be an important match (or other various point-gaining circumstances), it's far too risky to take them. The risk outweighs the reward. For example, say you took Cena either of the past 2 weeks. He's gotten 20 and 21 points. That's not good value for a $5 million pick. And if a $4-5 million pick doesn't have a match, or loses or DQ's, you're dead.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2006 I generally only pick the $5M guys if I suspect a title defense or win is forthcoming, be in a specialty match, or generally make it worthwhile. I suspected HHH would be using a weapon, showing up one or more times before his match, have the last match, win, and maybe even have it changed to a handicap match. Well, it wasn't a handicap match but it was scored as specialty, so he came through. Last summer I used to pick Cena a lot and would be pissed when his only appearance would be a promo, so I've learned to not depend on the $5M guys for every week picks. I do suspect Ortonsault will jump back but felt the need to strike while the iron was hot with my gloating (and I think I'm about to fall hard after the SD scoring comes in). King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2006 As far as $5 million guys go, Cena's a bad choice because they very rarely waste him on more than 2 seperate appearances. Triple H has a slow build storyline going that virtually guarantees him being around more than once. Plus he's got a trademark weapon and when he's up against the Spirit Squad, there's the potential for him to get in 5 Pedigrees a night. Rey's got a whole bunch of finishers so he's excusable as a $5 million pick. And Angle's Anklelock is so bastardised you're likely to get 20 points per match for that alone. When the hell is Foley going to go nuts with weapon shots again? Only reason he's in my team and they have him talking. No fair. Still, 17th is respectable with a Smackdown heavy team. Scroby 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2006 Normally what I look for my choices are those who are in some kind of angle/push, where odds are that wrestler will have a match. Which right now, is hard to pick anyone who is having an angle right now. There isn't much going on with WWE right now. The only angles going on right now is Edge/Foley are Hardcore, Vince and the spirt squad vs DX, Umaga's push, and really at the moment Smackdown doesn't have a ongoing angle other than King Booker T. I would consider Kahli vs Taker but that hasn't really lead up to anything except for promos from Kahli.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2006 Angle and RVD are now listed as "ECW", which I find odd since their current plan is to not include ECW in Fantasy. I wonder if they will be including the Sci-Fi shows... or if they are just pointing out that those two are no longer part of Raw and SmackDown. They've also dropped the rule about not allowing Maria, Kristal, and Coach to be picked for rosters.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted June 1, 2006 Yeah, picks are hard lately, because there's ECW starting, and I don't think WWE even has any idea what they're doing from day-to-day. SD is a complete mess... but, they don't have a PPV for nearly 2 months. Rey has no program now. Lashley, is he feuding with Finlay or Booker or both? And I guess Taker/Khali are probably wrestling again... but, that doesn't help much for fantasy, since Taker is never on SD, and Khali doesn't need the squash wins to build him up anymore. Everything else is a total mess there. RAW isn't great, either. Cena/Edge looks to get a really halfass build for Vengeance. HHH is probably doodling around until HBK returns. Again, outside of that, it's a mess.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Fantasy gets extreme June 1, 2006 The newest season of WWE Fantasy is only a few weeks old, but it’s already the most played season ever. And now, believe it or not, WWE.com’s popular Fantasy Game is getting even better. Effective immediately, due to the overwhelming demand from the fans, ECW Superstars will be available to choose for your Fantasy roster. The addition of the ECW brand into the Fantasy Game gives new meaning to the term “fantasy.” When the game first debuted a few years ago, fans were elated to have the opportunity to put both RAW and SmackDown Superstars on the same roster where they served as the General Manager. But now, the possibilities are near endless. Mike A., a Fantasy Game player from Springfield, Mass., already has plans for next week’s roster. “I’m a huge fan of both WWE and ECW. And now, I have the best of both worlds in one game. Thank you. Next week, I’m taking Triple H, Undertaker and Sabu, that’s for sure. Who knows after that, I’ll have to do some research.” Now you too can have Superstars from three different brands on one roster. But be wise when choosing your team. You still have the $30 million salary cap. While it may seem like a lot to spend, the green goes fast when you’re buying the top Superstars. Remember, WWE vs. ECW Head to Head is right around the corner (June 7 at 9/8 CT on USA). So start scouting your for your roster now. --- Guess I'm changing my roster. I already had it set for this week, but now there's PPV points to be had. Raw, SD, WWE vs. ECW, ONS... this is a big week.

Scroby 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 I think its best to choose people who we know will be on at least either Raw or Smackdown, be on the ECW vs WWE show, and be on the pay-per-view. So guys like RVD, Cena, Angle, Sabu, Mysterio, etc..etc..etc.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 So........are weapon shots still going to count as 3 points each in ECW? If so....dude, just pick up all the ECW guys every week!
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Well, having Brian Kendrick score me zero points while Finlay scored 35 points for others dropped me down to 5th. The season is young though! I hope the ECW issue is addressed on Monday in their questions. Is every match a specialty match since no one will be disqualified? Is every match a normal match, but all weapon shots count for points? Or is it just ECW and no weapons will count, and only something like a cage or ladder would be specialty?
