Guest Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 The Kings started the offseason well except for one little thing. Dean Lombardi - President, GM / Pres. Hockey Operations Ron Hextall - Asst. General Manager / GM of AHL team MOC- VP Hockey Operations / Capologist Marc Crawford - Head Coach The O'Connell hiring isn't a joke (I wish it was). At least he won't be running things and he's 3rd in charge.
the max Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Capologist? This is the same guy that dumped 8 million dollars on Alex Zhamnov, Dave Scatchard and Shawn McEachern. And giving Brian Leetch 4 million... Ouch.
Red Baron Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Doug Weight left the game last night with a sling on his left arm, and is not expected to play tomorrow. Aaron Ward is still questionable.

And giving Brian Leetch 4 million... Ouch. I know. Lombardi won't let him do very much, he's good with the money management. I expect Hextall to be hired as a GM by 07-08.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Doug Weight left the game last night with a sling on his left arm, and is not expected to play tomorrow. Aaron Ward is still questionable. Things may be looking up in the city of Champions. But, as far as I'm concerned, the wrong Ward is not playing. Edmonton's still trying to stay above water otherwise. So, who gets the Smythe? I'd give it to Ward, but Bob Mckenzie swore either Stillman or Brind'Amour, neither of which I have a problem with. And then there's Staal!
Guest Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Brind'Amour without any doubt in my mind. He's came up time and time again and scored when it mattered.
CanadianChris Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Brind'Amour would be my choice. Ward was good, but he wasn't dominant, like Conn Smythe-winning goalies tend to be. Interesting question...if Edmonton wins, and remembering that it's the award for playoff MVP and not finals MVP, would you still give the Conn Smythe to Roloson?
JustJoe2k5 Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Throughout most of the playoffs, I thought I would be Rod Brind'Amour. Now, I honestly think Cam Ward has the edge. I just hope the Hurricanes are able to close out the series in game six.
Red Baron Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Carolina: Staal or Stillman Edmonton: Pronger, Pisani, Smyth
Guest Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Interesting question...if Edmonton wins, and remembering that it's the award for playoff MVP and not finals MVP, would you still give the Conn Smythe to Roloson? I'd still give it to Brind'Amour, but if a gun was held to my head and I had to pick an Edmonton guy, I'd give it to Pronger. I never changed my Edmonton prediction, by the way, so I think Brind'Amour's performance has been that great.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 I still think Pronger, but it's tough to disregard the fact that Roloson hasn't been playing the last ten days. Baron had a sleeper with Pisani, who now has what, 12 goals?
Red Baron Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Another person who I wouldn't be surprised to win the Conn is Ray Whitney
Guest Paulster Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 Weight is officially out for Game 6. No surprise there.
Red Baron Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 I hope Ward is out so that Tverdosky is playing.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 I hope Ward is out so that Gerber is playing. Edited for further wishful thinking.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Yay, Gerber. Isn't weird Carolina is one game away from the Cup? I think after Game 5, Edmonton can win. I think Carolina needed Game 5 more than Edmonton (Yes I know it was an elimination game). Jussi Markannen is doing fine in net and Edmonton's PP is clicking. Should the Canes win in Edmonton, will the fans riot? Better question, if the Oilers win, will Edmonton riot?
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 As silly as this might sound, I think Edmonton may have all the momentum now. Markannen is playing well, Edmonton got a definite boost from a shorthanded goal to win, PP is clicking as mentioned, Weight and Ward hurt, andthe last hockey Edmontonians will see live for four months?
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 I'd like to point out at this time that we can officially stop rallying behind NBC. Jimmy Roberts pointed out during a break from the U.S. Open (by the way, Im surprised no one, namely me, didnt start a thread for it), that the hockey coverage would trump a replay of, "bad news, we won't be seeing the Britney Spears concert tonight due to Game 6).
treble Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I'll feel bad for Weight if the 'Canes win the Cup and he isn't be able to raise it because of his shoulder.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 There's a lot of fans singing Star Spangled Banner. There were also a lot chanting "Lets Go Oilers" until about the second or third line. O Canada is going to be fucking insane. Fuck, I love this country.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Even with my least favourite Canadian singing along to the anthem, this is among the proudest I've ever been to be Canadian.
Guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Erik Cole is playing tonight. That's a big risk.
the max Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I LOVE hearing the Canadian anthem sung by the crowd. I bet Cole hurts himself or someone does it for him.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I have to admit I'd never seen the actual anthem singer raise the mic to the crowd. Gold. Thirty seconds in. Staois is in the box. I'm now walkign to the bar up the road...this is too good to watch alone.
CanadianChris Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 What an awesome period of hockey by the Oilers. How much are Carolina fans gripping right now?
CanadianChris Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 That was one of the greatest saves I've EVER seen in my nearly 32 years on this earth.
Guest Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 So, what's the picks here for game 7? I'll stick with my original, won't give a score.
Danville_Wrestling Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Is game 7 going to be on NBC or OLN? I hope to God it's on NBC b/c if not then this whole hockey season has been a wash for me.
