CanadianChris Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 NBC has Game 7. They got every game from Game 4 onward so the Cup could be presented on NBC.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Is game 7 going to be on NBC or OLN? I hope to God it's on NBC b/c if not then this whole hockey season has been a wash for me. Have you ever heard Bob Cole, particularly in the last three months? Not a total wash.
CanadianChris Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Incidentally, should there not be a winner at Winged Foot tomorrow, NBC is going to have perhaps the greatest sports doubleheader ever on Monday, with a US Open playoff in the afternoon and Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals in the evening.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I was just discussing that with my dad, the ridiculous amount of good televised sports this weekend. Be a lot easier to swallow if the Jays could beat a fucking AAA club, but thats for a different thread. And the U.S not being decided (by the way, NBC's coverage enrages me, their analysts are harsh to a fault and Johnny Miller tries to hard to be funny) isnj't that far fetched either. Mike's four back, mind you , and a Ferrie stumble isnt that out of the question.
Red Baron Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Hands down that Pronger will win the Conn Smythe.
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 Hands down that Pronger will win the Conn Smythe. The Conn Smythe's winners name...........is FERRRRRRRRRRRNANDO ALLLLLLLEJANDRO PISAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANI (insert umaga reference here). And Baron, if you have to call in dead, you're playing baseball with us at Energy Field Canada Day.
Urban Warfare Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Ehh... It certainly looked like Carolina was offside on that rush, but 1-0 Carolina regardless.
CanadianChris Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Has there ever been more than one penalty shot given in a Cup final? I know Pronger's goal in Game 1 was the first successful PS. EDIT: No penalty shot. That's a pretty silly rule; a player covering up a puck to save a goal can't avoid giving a penalty shot just because there was a delayed penalty call.
the max Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I think the refs are going by the fact that they lost sight of the puck in Markkanen's pads. There was no conclusive proof that Staios kept it out of the net. Granted, the whistle should have blown sooner...
CanadianChris Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Wow, that was a goal. Good omen, perhaps?
CanadianChris Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 This game reminds me so much of the Flames/Bolts game 7. Carolina just has that little something extra at home.
iggymcfly Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I hate to say it, but I think the Oilers are fucked at this point. That 2-man advantage was as good of a chance as they're likely to get for the rest of the game.
iggymcfly Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 2-1! Didn't think that goal would count, but I'm glad to see that it did.
CanadianChris Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Kristy Yamaguchi married Bret Hedican? I didn't know that.
CanadianChris Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Empty netter. That's it. Fabulous run by both teams.
Slayer Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Two straight Alberta v. Southeast Finals, two straight nothings for Alberta But at least we know hockey works in NASCAR country... right?
Art Sandusky Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 And so ends the fourth straight year of Team With A Red-Hot Goalie Emerges Out Of Nowhere To Make The Finals But Ultimately Lose
Urban Warfare Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 LOL. Did anyone else hear Ray Whitney there?
Guest Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 FUCKIN RIGHT But at least we know hockey works in NASCAR country... right? Judging by that crowd, yes.
treble Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I'm not so sure I would have given the Smythe to Ward. I mean, he was awesome and all for stretches, but he did get pulled in the Conference finals and if they had left him in there for that game, it's possible they wouldn't have even won that round.
