WON Notes - Orton, Austin, Hogan, Red Rooster

Recommended Posts

Guest Arnold_OldSchool

Orton was fined as much as 5 grand prior to his suspension for abusive language to “undeserving people”, tormenting Divas and anti social behavior

The 3/28 SD! Tapings had a incident that was the last straw and no one , his friends or Johnny Ace’s detractors were siding with Orton. The policy he broke didn’t involve dress code, and had no creative or economic issues involved

The WWE may have him seek help for his social issues

Rey needs knee surgery but is putting it off due to SD!’s depth issues

Beniot will face Malenko at ECW : ONS in a Eddy tribute match

The 10 year anniversary of the 1997 Survivor Series featuring the Montreal screw job will take place 11/25/07 …in Montreal

Tomko and Romeo are both working in Puerto Rico now

Rosey is working the indies as “Ro-Z”

Paul Ellering suffered “cornea frostbite” while dog racing last month. He was blind in that eye but recovered now

Terry Taylor had neck fusion surgery this week (can be still bob his head like a chicken?)

Austin is still refusing to fight Hogan, the match is a way long shot at this point. The reason Austin said anything about Hogan at the HOF was so it wouldn’t appear he got punked out by Hogan

Bret Hart thought Hogan was a good guy who really wasn’t messing with his career in WWF in 93 and WCW 98 and on, until he was at WWE’s home office and saw Hogan’s already taped comments for the SCREWED Bret Hart DVD, which were anti Hart

Early WMania buyrate numbers are “disappointing”

The SD! 3 way was to go 20 mins but the show was running long by that point so it was cut in half

Flair is getting lens restoration surgery

When boogeyman returns in Sept or October, he will be over 42 years old

Harry Smith is supposed to debut on RAW on June 5th

When Vince was a teen , he went to church all the time to be with Linda

RW Animal wants off the road and is angling for an agent’s job

NBC pressured Vince to put Ross on SNME due to Styles not being “network quality”

Thanks.

When Vince was a teen , he went to church all the time to be with Linda

Apparently, he never listened to the minister. Actually, I heard the McMahons are conservative.

They most definately are, but you don't have to be religious to be conservative

Early WMania buyrate numbers are “disappointing”

They're disappointed, why exactly? What did they expect with the card they presented? Some of the matches came off far better than they had any right to be, but on paper it looked like shit.

Stick with that attitude Austin. Anything to keep Hogan off Wrestlemania is a good thing to me.

great, a truely psychotic wrestler...get over your fucking issues Randy, you have a dream spot in a dream job that lots of guys are killing themselves over.

Rey needs knee surgery but is putting it off due to SD!’s depth issues

Brilliant move...how bout just moving guys around on the rosters again like they did with Kurt Angle or better yet, how bout they actually start pushing a few more people?

Beniot will face Malenko at ECW : ONS in a Eddy tribute match

sounds good to me

The 10 year anniversary of the 1997 Survivor Series featuring the Montreal screw job will take place 11/25/07 …in Montreal

OMG BRET HART IZ COMIN BACK DOODZ!

Austin is still refusing to fight Hogan, the match is a way long shot at this point. The reason Austin said anything about Hogan at the HOF was so it wouldn’t appear he got punked out by Hogan

Austin may be smarter than we thought...I'm kinda sad, though, I was hoping to find out who had the biggest ego of the two.

Bret Hart thought Hogan was a good guy who really wasn’t messing with his career in WWF in 93 and WCW 98 and on, until he was at WWE’s home office and saw Hogan’s already taped comments for the SCREWED Bret Hart DVD, which were anti Hart

somebody finally woke up and caught a whiff of the coffee

Early WMania buyrate numbers are “disappointing”

as said earlier, how can this not be expected...good thing it was actually better than it looked like it was going to be

The SD! 3 way was to go 20 mins but the show was running long by that point so it was cut in half

not surprising, utterly stupid...way to treat that title!

Flair is getting lens restoration surgery

retire already...

When boogeyman returns in Sept or October, he will be over 42 years old

age shouldn't matter with his character, it doesn't matter with UT...

Harry Smith is supposed to debut on RAW on June 5th

great, he'll be coming along to seek revenge on HBK on behalf of the whole Hart family...though from what I keep hearing about him, an HBK/Smith match may be pretty good.

When Vince was a teen , he went to church all the time to be with Linda

good ol' Vince, he'll do anything for pussy!

NBC pressured Vince to put Ross on SNME due to Styles not being “network quality”

I don't mind Ross calling this show, but I like Styles.

EDIT: fucking quote feature

Ha ha, we're never really gonna find out the cause of all this are we.

The WWE may have him seek help for his social issues

I hope more and more that this is all a work.

Rey needs knee surgery but is putting it off due to SD!’s depth issues

Two months later: Teddy Long," TONIGHT we begin a tournament for the vacated Wold Heavyweight Championship, after Rey Mysterio suffered injuries at the hands of __________"

Beniot will face Malenko at ECW : ONS in a Eddy tribute match

Fucking awesome.

The 10 year anniversary of the 1997 Survivor Series featuring the Montreal screw job will take place 11/25/07 …in Montreal

Dear God...

Tomko and Romeo are both working in Puerto Rico now

Good luck to them, and hopefully Tomko can get better over there.

Rosey is working the indies as “Ro-Z”

Is he still a Super-Hero?

Paul Ellering suffered “cornea frostbite” while dog racing last month. He was blind in that eye but recovered now

“cornea frostbite” Whoah, that's hardcore.

Terry Taylor had neck fusion surgery this week (can be still bob his head like a chicken?)

Good luck to Terry as well

Austin is still refusing to fight Hogan, the match is a way long shot at this point. The reason Austin said anything about Hogan at the HOF was so it wouldn’t appear he got punked out by Hogan

Ha ha, Austin know's Hogan's Backstage Skills> then his.

Bret Hart thought Hogan was a good guy who really wasn’t messing with his career in WWF in 93 and WCW 98 and on, until he was at WWE’s home office and saw Hogan’s already taped comments for the SCREWED Bret Hart DVD, which were anti Hart

Remember in WCW when Bret revealed that Hogan was his hero and he became his lacky for a while? That sucked ass.

Early WMania buyrate numbers are “disappointing”

As with all other ratings and buyrates lately.

The SD! 3 way was to go 20 mins but the show was running long by that point so it was cut in half

Fucking hell, like they couldn't have shaved off a few minutes from some of the other segments to make up for it.

Flair is getting lens restoration surgery

Flair needs to come back, have one more of his 'One Last Runs', put somebody over a few people fucking huge, then retire.

When boogeyman returns in Sept or October, he will be over 42 years old

And he's a comedy character, when Batista returns, he'll be damn near that age, and will win the belt back, and be portrayed as a young up-and-comer.

Harry Smith is supposed to debut on RAW on June 5th

I hope he has as good of a debut as Hass' return, Benoit's new protege, and Finlay.

When Vince was a teen , he went to church all the time to be with Linda

Heh. I used to go to church to pick up chicks, too.

RW Animal wants off the road and is angling for an agent’s job

Great move on Animal's part.

NBC pressured Vince to put Ross on SNME due to Styles not being “network quality”

I can understand this. NBC knows that Ross has been the voice of the WWE for a long time now. I still think Styles should have been there instead of coach, though.

anyone who's read Hogan's book knows that this is a lie as Hogan dogs on Bret for bitching about Hogan and the title situation after Wrestlemania 9.

On the "speaks the truth" scale, I think Meltz may be slightly above Hulk Hogan. Not by much though since honesty in wrestling is about as rare as a virgin hooker.

Hogan, it would seem.

I hope Dean is getting into good ring shape for his match with Benoit at ONS2, it should be a belter.

Vince seems fisically conservative and socially libertarian (and that's practically socially liberal these days) to me. He's more of a paleoconservative, not a Bush Republican.

Dean vs Benoit will be so paint-by-numbers, just like the Eddy match from last year. I guess the ECW fans need to have their glory moment of chanting "Thank you Eddy" or maybe, just maybe, something in Spanish.

I've been saying this for the past few days but I bet you anything Orton was fucking trashed at that Smackdown taping. I don't even remember if he did anything on it, but either way that's my guess.

Hopefully they won't remember how much of a bitch Eddie was reportedly being backstage about jobbing to Benoit and doing the show itself overall. Not to mention how Eddie decided to sandbag the match when Benoit accidentally broke his nose. Or else the chants could be a lot more ugly.

At the taping last night, the only time he was mentioned or shown was during a recap of Kurt snapping on him last week.

A more complete version of the Orton news in the Observer:

There is no singular, standout reason as to why Randy Orton was suspended. In the past few years, he had been fined often, usually for $5,000 per offense. Despite the fines, he'd often joke about them. The fines have largely been a result of his treatment of women, both in and out of the company. Also, he's used rude, abrasive language to people who didn't deserve it, not to mention that he's displayed antisocial behavior. WWE may want Orton to undergo counseling, to get to the root of his social issues. He may even have to get medical help, if it is necessary.

Johnny Ace was said to be fed up with Orton's rude behavior, as it was said to be getting out of hand. Orton's always displayed erratic behavior, however, it started to really get out of control at the start of the year. Also, the fines weren't sending a message to him. The decision to suspend him was based on an incident that took place at the 3/28 Smackdown tapings in Kansas City, at the Kemper Arena. Orton flagrantly violated a very public company policy. It was a lot more serious than your typical dress code issue, and it had nothing to do with either creative or economic issues. Apparently, whatever he did, was the final straw. Whatever he did, has been done before in the past as a form of protest, however, nobody was so brazen to do it inside of a building with plenty of people potentially witnessing it, including people not employed by the company who happened to be in the building at the time. Orton was informed of the WWE's decision to suspend him after Wrestlemania.

Nobody was defending Johnny Ace's decision to suspend him, including friends of Orton, who would normally not side with Johnny Ace. Although, these same people were surprised that WWE made the news of his suspension so public.

Orton's future in World Wrestling Entertainment will be decided upon in the next few weeks. It is likely that Johnny Ace and Vince McMahon will be discussing Orton's future in the WWE this week, and they may make some sort of decision. It should be noted that the day after Orton was informed of the WWE's decision to suspend him (the 4/4 Smackdown tapings), he seemed very interested in keeping his job.

From the way the bolded part is written, it sounds like Orton violated the company drug policy.

Anything would be better than that Benoit/Guerrero crapfest from last year's One Night Stand.

That may be a tad harsh, but yeah, it wasn't too great. I expect Malenko and Benoit to be very good, and they better have the Funker on that card this year. Pay him whatever the f*** he wants and put him on the card. Or at least have him there doing something.

I know the big story is that RVD is cashing in MITB at ECW, but it just seems this isn't up Vince's alley. The WWE title on the line at an ECW show?

"From the way the bolded part is written, it sounds like Orton violated the company drug policy." Really? I didn't get that impression. I mean, of course it is a possibility, but I didn't get that impression after reading that.

They should have Harry Smith be the one to break the Masterlock.

And ...

Bret Hart’s Calgary Sun Column

June 8, 2002

Hulk Hogan.

He hasn’t changed a whole heck of a lot from the way he was the first time I met him back in ‘79.

The first time I met Terry Bollea we were both working for Georgia Championship Wrestling, which eventually evolved into the WCW.

Back then he was known as Sterling Golden. He was very green . And very impressive. On the day I left Atlanta to come home I knocked on his door to say good bye and told him if he ever wanted to learn to wrestle he was welcome to come up and work for my dad any time. He thanked me, and meant it, saying he’d keep it in mind.

The next time I saw him was in Japan. He’d just shot his cameo for the Rocky III movie and was on the verge of mega - stardom that nobody could have even begun to imagine.

Still the same guy.

When I started with the WWF, in August of ‘84, he was on his way to being , without question, the biggest name in the history of wrestling.

I can remember, even during the glory days of Hulkamania, how Terry would come into the dressing room and say hi to every single wrestler. Every night he headlined there was a sell out and throughout the night all the wrestlers would come up to him and whoever his opponent was and thank them both for the house, for putting food on their tables and making wrestling something worth respecting.

I can say that Hulk Hogan was not only a hero to millions of Hulkamaniacs, but to all the wrestlers too.

If Vince McMahon was Julius Caesar, then Hulk Hogan was Alexander the Great.

I remember one time at an airport, in about 1987, when Hulk signed one autograph after another to the point where it took him 45 minutes to get to the gate. They were closing the doors as he was boarding the plane and this one fan asked him for his autograph. He said apologetically, “I’m sorry, I can’t, I’m gonna miss my flight ...” and he got on the plane. I was right behind him and I heard a bystander flippantly remark, “Just like I figured. I always thought he was a jerk.” I thought to myself, that person has no idea how many autographs he just signed. Being a hero like Hulk Hogan it’s hard to make everybody happy but for a guy that’s been wrestling as long as he has he’s certainly done a heck of a job.

Hulk was especially considerate of me when I joined him in the WCW.

I saw him a few days ago at Davey’s funeral and despite the sad backdrop it was nice to catch up on things.

So then I opened up my paper and saw a picture of Hulk, taken in Calgary, with a fifteen year old girl named Amanda Marqniq who dreams of being a pro wrestler but needed a heart transplant.

It brought back what I remember most about Hulk Hogan, even more than his feats as a great wrestler. The countless times the office came to get him from the dressing room to make the wish of a sick or dying child come true. Despite the fact that he was pulled in too many different directions and had little time for himself or his family, Hulk always had all the time in the world for kids who needed him to be their hero. He somehow knew just the right things to say. It was never a burden to him. If anything, it gave him a sense of real purpose. I’ve always tried to follow his example.

In Friday’s paper I read how Amanda has now gotten her new heart. I thought I might just give Hulk a call and let him know. He’d be happy to hear that.

Some things in wrestling have always been real and Hulk Hogan is one of them.
