RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2006 I can't get on to wrestlingobserver.com, which kinda sucks. Everytime I do the page expires. Any thing I can do? I sacrifice many cyber-goats to you, the tech gods, for any help.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 1, 2006 Here's some possible fixes: 1) Start > Run > ipconfig/flushdns 2) Could be spyware. Run various spyware programs. 3) Could be your ISP's fault. I had that problem with Verizon. Find some other free DNS servers online.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2006 I tried the spyware and flush options and it didn't work. There are three websites which I can't get into - WWE.com, wrestlingobserver.com, pridefc.com - and all of them have an IP addy starting with a 64, while other sites I can log onto have different beginning numbers. Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2006 can you ping those sites? if you can, it's a browser problem. most likely you can't ping them, so do a tracert on their ip's. it's probably routing somwhere funky, so maybe getting a new IP from your ISP would help. leaving the modem powered off for 15-20 mins might do the trick. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2006 I did a bunch of stuff suggested here and I am back on. The problem with doing all the stuff at the same time is that I have no idea which solution solved the problem. I felt like House there, for a while.

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 2, 2006 It was probably the modem reset that did it. I always forget to mention that one. Carny and his tech support knowledge knows more than I.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2006 Wel u r both smrter then me. While I didn't turn the modem off for very long, I did fiddle with it (smrt ppl "troubleshoot", I fiddle) and turn it off for a minute and hit the standby button for whatever reason and it worked soon after (after I pressed the standby button when I realized that, hey, the modem was on standby). Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 we're hiring!!!! The latest gem I had, was some guy was in an outage and he was complaining.... HIM: What are they gonna have to do to fix this? Me: Could be any number of things, resetting our equipment.... HIM: That doesn't take all day, I could do that from home! Me: You can reset our equipment from your house? HIM:.... Me: Thats quite the feat! Look, these routers have thousands of people on them, we are working to get this up as soon as possible. Him: ok, thanks.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Does Windspear only have offices in Nebraska, or are they worldwide. I'd seriously consider doing it part-time.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Nebraska, Kansas. Thats it. So...time to start packing. I'll find us a nice apartment. seriously, any ISP would be the same, maybe even worse. AOL users gotta be the dumbest humans with internet.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Carn: meh, try doing tech for Macs....with a user that has 1. dial up, 2. through AOL 3. over Airport (Apple's wireless POS base station), 4. with an Airport Express being used as a WDS. AOL users are prone to the PBKAC error a lot. Replace user and try again.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Oh, I've messed with some airport and dial up on macs before. The other stuff I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. Most people here hate the dreaded mac call, it's not that bad for me. I was messing with Macs all through high school. Mac calls just take a lil longer cuz i don't have all the screens memorized, but it usually works out good in the end. Unless it involves Mac's "Mail" client. "Mail" can suck my wang. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 I hadn't used a mac for a decade before I trained for it, and never OSX. And from hearing from customers what their ISP/developer of the software said, most of them rarely or never did non-Windows tech. What's the problem with Mail.app, though? Type of mail account (IMAP, POP, etc), Ingoing mail server, outgoing mail server, see if they can send the mail to themselves...well, that's all I really need to be concerned about (that and if it launches). Of course, if there's a specific issue you're getting a lot of, I'd be glad to see if I can pass you along some info. I'm sure you've had at least a few calls where you had to explain that the Airport "not talking to your computer" has nothing to do with the internet connection. I always get the customer to power-cycle everything and reboot, though, because if that is'nt it, I'm expected to log SN for the Airport, Firmware, Software, ISP, Modem type, etc. What CRM tool do you use to log? We use P(o)S8.

Oh nothing specific, it just seems thats the one mail app that is really hit & miss. If OE doesn't work, i can usually tell them why, I'd say 95% of the time. If Mail doesn't work....i got no clue. "Settings ok..welp...talk to apple bout that one" It's probably some router blocking it...possibly even ours. lol I'm sure you've had at least a few calls where you had to explain that the Airport "not talking to your computer" has nothing to do with the internet connection. while it may not be airports only....at least a couple times a day I explain the difference between LAC, Wireless, Airport & and the internet connection. What CRM tool do you use to log? We use P(o)S8. Our companies obviously don't use the same acronyms or terms.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2006 Well, recording tool (Customer Relationship Mgt). I was referring to PeopleSoft for the 2nd one. Here's some good links to direct customers to, depending on their version of OSX: http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/mail/ http://www.apple.com/support/panther/mail/ "Tiger" is any OS X 10.4 version, so 10.4.1 to 10.4.6 (current). "Panther" is any OS X 10.3 version, so 10.3.1 to 10.3.9. Customers can check it by going to the blue Apple (upper left corner of the screen) and clicking on About this Mac. Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2006 never! I know nothing about video games, or computers for that matter. fuck y'all nerds. Andrew, I'd much rather just give up on the mail client and send their ass to you for support.
