NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

America’s Most Wanted vs. “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels

AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels made the challenge – they want a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Title, and they’ll get their opportunity this Thursday night on “iMPACT!” as they take on reigning titleholders America’s Most Wanted! AN EXCLUSIVE “PAPARAZZI PRODUCTIONS” INTERVIEW WITH “BIG SEXY” KEVIN NASH

It’s been almost six months since TNA fans heard from Kevin Nash, but “Big Sexy” will speak out this Thursday night on “iMPACT!” in an exclusive interview with Alex Shelley courtesy of his “Paparazzi Productions”. What does Nash have to say about TNA? Why did he choose to grant an interview to Alex Shelley? We’ll find out this Thursday night on “iMPACT!”

All this and much more on Thursday’s “iMPACT! – including appearances by Raven, Christy Hemme and Samoa Joe! Plus, more matches and news for TNA’s May 14 “Sacrifice” Pay-Per-View event!

Well this week it looks like its Christian's turn to play the "convince the casual viewers to stick around til midnight" role that Sting played this week, while AJ, Daniels & AMW get to wow the UFC action fans early, a la Joe and Daniels a few weeks ago. Should be interesting to see if that formula works as well as it did on the Thursday debut (and last week to a lesser extent). Anyway, I am intrigued by the Christian/Shelley match-up. It makes just as much sense as the Sting/Young match a few weeks ago, and I hope Tenay and West play up why the match is happening. And I'm sure the tag title match will be a replay of the New Year's Eve match, only this time about half as long. I wonder what they're possibly doing with Nash. This interview should make that a little more clear, but I really hope he's the new DoA, instead of starting his rumored X-Division angle. Anyway, it should be a good show. Thoughts?

Johhny Devine reminds me of a younger Edge, at least facially

The Nash thing I liked.

Jarrett's corny attempt at heel heat is horrible. "Y'all are morons! Ya stupid morons!"

"This ain't the dating game!"

I have absolutely no interest in JJ/Steiner against Sting and a partner that'll probably end up turning on Sting and joining Jarrett's army.

And why are they gonna job Shelley, who's mega over, to Christian? Why not maybe...build a new star who's connecting with the crowd and getting chants in his matches?

Not liking Impact but went into it with a clear mind.

I guess not all ex superstar wrestlers can be crackheads or fugitives ey?

Anyways I liked the show, but even being a big Sting fan...I'm not really into the whole buildup for this match. Atleast it's something new though.

At least there trying to build up to a match.

Sounds like it should have been a solid iMPACT. I look forward to see it.

Oh, just out of curiosity, what did Nash say in his interview?

The Nash interview was sheer greatness. He is apparently now playing up his WCW backstage character. He had this posterboard with a fake graph on it showing that he was the highest drawing champion compared to guys like Hogan, Hart, Austin, and Rock. Then, he looked on nonchalantly and called X-Division matches "filler". The announcer's pissed off reaction to Kevin Nash's egotism is also greatness. It's a much watch.

So he's a heel now then?

If he is going to "tear up the x-division" he'd better put someone over who isnt Daniels or AJ. Put over sabin or Williams.

Beat Sonjay Dutt in a hair match on PPV then lose to him the next week on iMPACT?

I just hope Nash doesn't destroy guys like Lethal and Sabin in the process of this storyline.

To TNA's credit, for one week anyway, they played the storyline perfectly. They set Nash up to be delusional before even mentioning the X-Division, so its not just "I'm big and your not" and then Tenay and West reacted perfectly to him calling the division filler by calling him crazy instead of wondering how the little guys would ever compete. Of course, the "its 2006, not 1996" comments would have worked better coming off the segment that featured AMW, Daniels and Styles instead of Jarrett, Sting and the Steiners, but that's neither here nor there.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes from here.....I'm assuming the jobbers will be squashed, or attacked at random, then Jerry Lynn will be offended as a founder of the X-division and will challenge Nash. Nash will put Lynn on the shelf to establish himself as a heel and then AJ will defend his former partner's honor and beat Big Kev. I'd love to see Joe kill Nash, but since coming to TNA, Nash has been talking about wanting to work with AJ, so that has to be where this is all going.

As for the rest of the show, I thought the tag match was pretty good and the main event was too. I liked that they didn't have Christian squash Shelley....I almost wish they would have had him cheat to win to set up a title defense on Impact one week. Christian was pretty entertaining with his Rock imitation, and I got kick of him throwing to commercial mid-match. AMW and Daniels and Styles should have a kick-ass with about 15 minutes and no commercial breaks, so the PPV rematch should be great.

It's strange, but does anything else think that the X-Cup could be used to turn Alex Shelley? Say they go into the gauntlet match and it comes down to USA vs. Canada. The rest of the team gets eliminated and it comes down to Shelley vs. 2 or 3 of the Canadians. However, he overcomes the odds and wins the cup for the US. Bam, instant face cred.

Or, he could turn on his teammates and give the Cup to the Canadians. It could go either way. But, since I like Alex, I'm pulling for the former.

PS- Nash is going to punk out the X Division only to "put over" AJ. Gut feeling. Seeing as how AJ needs so much help getting over, after all.

It'll be met by "smark-fury", but I think Nash vs. X will work out. I'm aware that there's no guarantees with Nash involved, but TNA isn't gonna allow Kevin Nash to bury the X division.

Ratings, from PWI:

The 5/4 edition of Impact did 0.9 cable rating, with a 1.8 share. The Ultimate Fighter, which preceded it, did a 1.7 cable rating, with a 2.7 share, so TNA kept about half of that audience. That is the pattern that they have settled into. Ultimate Fighter Unleashed did a 1.1 cable rating, with a 1.7 share.

Don't you mean "This is Awesome!" *clap* *clap* *clap*

It would've been physically impossible. I was speechless at how horrible that entire segment between Jeff Jarrett and Sting was. The crowd hated it, I hated it, Sting used catchphrases that were hip ten years ago, and the entire segment felt like something I would see in WCW fives year ago. I like Sting but I think it may be time to call it quits, he seems like the Mick Foley of TNA.

I would like to reply to that by quoting a poster from earlier in the thread.

JJ using dated material hurt the segment more than Sting saying "that is a shoot" from last week. Sting being like Foley is a good thing since he is willing to put over the talent no matter who it is.
