Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 First book out this Wednesday DC has set up a cool online edition of the Daily Planet which will chronicle the events of 52 http://www.dccomics.com/sites/52/
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 R.I.P. the "Wizard spills the beans" thread. Oh, well....anything associated with those shills at Wizard isn't worth keeping around anyways.

The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 So...today was a hell of a day. The one comic book store in my area sold out of the first issue about an hour after opening on Wednesday. I was at work and sick yesterday, so I found out today. I cursed, alot. I go home and jump on DCComics and plop down the 25 bucks for 12 issues. ...6 to 8 weeks for delivery. I cursed some more. I head to Ebay, and find issue 1 for 5 bucks after shipping...I jumped on it. Let's hope it doesn't take 8 weeks for my next issue, because I don't want to be hunting around online for issues 2-8 or whatever.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 Stuff like "52" is the reason some comic book shops do hold lists.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 well it being the only comic shop in the area... i didn't think it was THAT big of a market. But, it doesn't matter now...I just hope I don't have to wait 8 weeks to see another issue.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I rushed to my store to get my copy, but luckily they had quite a few anyway. I'm wondering how much of each issue they'll get as time goes on.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I remember comics like the original Transformers becoming more and more rare as time went on, and that's why the last issues (i think 81 and 82) are worth fairly more than the first few dozen.

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2006 That cover might be a red herring.
Special K 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2006 It better fucking be. If people liked the JLI, what's the point of killing them off? Why don't we kill off Bats and Martian Manhunter, too? Then we can have a really great series with Fire and Guy Gardner? /entertained, but a little bitter.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2006 Also, I was never much a fan of Lobo.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 After doing a little digging, it appears that The Question, Renee Montoya, Elongated Man, Booster Gold, Steel, and Black Adam are the big guns in 52, and it was reported in Wizard that one of them isn't going to make it to the end of the year. again...I curse. Steviekick 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 Booster Gold doesn't die, as he's on the cover of the new JLA title, which takes place after 52.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2006 Booster Gold doesn't die, as he's on the cover of the new JLA title, which takes place after 52. It should be noted that not everyone on that cover is probably going to appear in the issue. And where is this "History of the DC Universe" feature you people promised me??? It should be noted that not everyone on that cover is probably going to appear in the issue. And where is this "History of the DC Universe" feature you people promised me??? I was wondering that myself. And one should note that Kyle is also in GL gear rather than Ion so it's not 'up to date.' And Booster (why the fuck are people using spoiler tags, there's a giant picture a few posts up that makes it pretty obvious who we're speculating about, plus it's not a spoiler) better not die I can handle everything else that's happened to the old JLI, but not Booster. If he does go, I think Fire better start watching her ass.

SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 Booster Gold doesn't die, as he's on the cover of the new JLA title, which takes place after 52. It should be noted that not everyone on that cover is probably going to appear in the issue. And where is this "History of the DC Universe" feature you people promised me??? Tomorrow, Issue #2, like advertised It was disappointing.
Special K 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 It was disappointing. Yeah, it was. But it's part 2 of 52. DC has delivered with all their big shit lately, so I'm going to stay the course for a bit. My local shop had 52 as their weekly "dollar title" so that helped. Two bucks for the first two issues. I just ended up buying 52 and Dead Girl (which I still love, but I don't think they're going to be able to wrap it up in one issue satisfactortily.) Ok so I figure I don't have to spoiler this, since both issues are out. Booster Gold is being his old, cocky self after his best friend died. And Elongated Man, who seemed to be coping, is suicidal? I do like Ralph coming back for the mystery. So Who's this Renee lady? Obviously a Gotham Detective, but I've been out of the loop. The Question is a pimp. Isn't he from the old Charleston comics? He's who Rorshach was based on?
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 It was disappointing. So Who's this Renee lady? Obviously a Gotham Detective, but I've been out of the loop. Renee is Renee Montoya, originally created for Batman TAS, then brought into comics like Harley Quinn. Now she is getting some extra development as a lesbian in 52. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2006 The Question is a pimp. Isn't he from the old Charleston comics? He's who Rorshach was based on? You are correct. I'm not happy with the direction Booster has gone in since 52 started. Maybe if they explained his motivations better, I'd buy it. Yeah, I know when he was created in the 80s he was supposed to be the sell-out super-hero, but he's developed so much since then it seems wrong to send him back to square one. And his costume reminds me of Capt. Amazing from "Mystery Men."
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 Anyone else pick up Book 3 yet? Thoughts? Opinions?
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Just read book three and so far 52 has me hooked. The format looks like it's really going to allow for some really good developing of stories. And Black Adam once again proves his badassness.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 The "History of the DC Universe" is still a disappointment. They're just retelling the pre-Crisis history, not sorting out any post-IC continuity glitches.
The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 I hope that the History of the DCU thing gets better, as Jerk mentioned. It really needs to fix some things up, but they got like 8 more parts to it. As for the actually week 3, awesome. Black Adam is one vicious motherfucker, and the more I read, the more the cover to Week 15 really seems like it's going to make me cry. Also, Luthor's a total pimp. Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 Well the NY Times has spilled the beans on Batwoman who will appear in a future issues of 52. And as the clues in Wizard suggested Batwoman is... Kathy Kane a wealthy (socialite), buxom lipstick lesbian who has a history with Renee Montoya, an ex-police detective who has a starring role in 52."
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Wasn't this Keene girl also a charchter for Archie Comics at one time? I thought that she was a model or something there. Black Adam is finally getting some respect in the DCU and it is about time. I ordered a Black Adam t-shirt and can't wait for it to arrive.
