EricMM 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Dude, he tried to get a good episode or two of South Park yanked. AND he tried to have a Katie Holmes sex scene removed. Nothing he does could equal the entertainment in those things. (Collateral was still good tho)

Mole 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Tom has been great in TONS of movies. Top Gun Rain Man Born on the 4th of July Mission Impossible The Firm Minority Report Magnolia The Color of Money Vanilla Sky(I think he was great in this) Just because he is crazy, doesn't make him a bad actor. Mole 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 1 - Mission: Impossible III Paramount Pictures $48,025,000 $48,025,000 1 4054 I'm no expert, but $48 million is a lot of fucking money. What's with all the "bomb" talk? I fucking hate Tom Cruise, but I'm not deluded enough to think the guy isn't the biggest single box office draw in the world. 48 million is a bomb when you look at previous Tom Cruise openings, previous MI openings, previous openings for the first weekend in May and previous openings for movies of this genre. I love Tom Cruise, but this opening is a big dissapointment. Err, I don't know if it is that big of a dissapointment. The War of the Worlds $64,878,725 Collateral $24,701,458 The Last Samurai $24,271,354 Minority Report $35,677,125 Vanilla Sky $25,015,518 Mission: Impossible 2 $57,845,29 Magnolia $193,604 Eyes Wide Shut $21,706,163 Jerry Maguire $17,084,296 Mission: Impossible $45,436,830 Interview with the Vampire $36,389,705 The Firm $32,476,785 Not including Magnolia, he averages $35 million an opening weekend since 1993. It is above average for him.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Look at the openings for the previous two Mission: Impossible movies. It's a dissapointment
Mole 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 If you look at any franchises, the opening weekends go up and down all the time.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 They don't go down from 57.8 to 47.8 without it being called a dissapointment. M:I2 opened on less screens, when ticket prices were less, and on a Wednesday. I'm a big Cruise fan, but he couldn't even beat the Bourne Supremacy. When Paramount is hoping for 65-70 and you get 45, that's dissapointing.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 And Tom Cruise's opening for MI:3 effects us all how again?

Maybe for the MI series, but not for TC movies.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 It's got to be a dissapointment for him. This was hyped as an action movie where guys could go and see Tom Cruise kick ass, and girls could swoon over Tom Cruise kicking ass and macking the girl from Boston Public. Looking at his previous movies, only Minority Report, the MI films and WOTW were blockbuster popcorn flicks, not films that would do better then 35 mil. And if you adjust for inflation Interview with the Vampire and the Firm, you get around 47-50 mil.
Mole 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 Err, actually $54. I still don't think it is a disapointment for TC.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2006 I hardly think Cruise will be up at night over this. The Last Samurai opened with 24 million on its way to 111 million domestic and ended up with about 456 million worldwide. This latest Mission: Impossible will likely do similar or even better. Besides, MI3 is the best of the 3 and certainly a lot better than the 2nd.
