Guest CurryMan Report post Posted June 2, 2006 But that is the same as people bringing in scandinavian players, there season is just the same. Now days foreign players are getting bought in the summer transfer window. Not that many is being bought preseason. Sweden are facing Chile tonight they have probebly chosed Chile since they want a south american team that could play the similar style as Paraguy. The swedish starting team is Isaksson Alexandersson-Mellberg-Lucic-Edman Wilhelmsson-Svensson-Linderoth-Ljungberg Ibrahimovic-Larsson There are said two be atleast 3 changes in halftime, Wilhelmsson and Ljungberg out and Alexandersson. Källström, Nilsson and Jonsson will go in.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Is that your likely first choice 11 for the tournament? If it is then why is a Midfielder playing RB?
Guest CurryMan Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Yes, that is probebly the first choice for the game. I could see Kim Källström as the offensive innermidfielder instead of Svensson and I hope he will play. Svensson has no pace right now but Kim has alot of confidence especially now after he has signed with Lyon. Alexandersson is decent as a RB, I don´t understand why they didn´t bring a normal RB to the squad. Östlund played every game in the qualifier but didn´t make the squad for the WC and we have Christoffer Andersson who is a RB that plays for the norwegian champions Lilleström and is performing wery well there. Nilsson is awefull I have no idea why they brought him he can´t make a sliding challenge if so his life depended on it, awefull I say. But the coaches seem to love him Ohhh Sweden - Chile 1-1 Sweden showed up with no intentions and no will, the team were all thinking about there trip tomorrow to Germany. Hopefull a bad prematch is good for the overall tournament. The goal was scored by Henrik Larsson.

Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 Decent performance from England today, although Jamaica are such a poor team its really pretty meaningless. Crouch was again the highlight, a comedy penalty miss and then cracking finish for the final goal. Let's hope he retires the robot celebration now, though. k thx 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 NEVER! If he does the robot at the World Cup, he'll be the tournaments Roger Milla. And that's always good.
Guest Report post Posted June 3, 2006 From what I've read and seen, I think Paraguay may pip Sweden to second place in the group. Paraguay plays so much at the back, I don't know if they'll get more than one goal through the group stage.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2006 I love Crouch so fucking much, I was drawn to him initially as the nice guy who gets shit on by everyone, but now he's actually doing well it's great. VERY good result for Australia, but I thought they might get through their group anyway. Go Hiddink!
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 What's the deal with Ibrahimovic? People keep touting him as 'one to watch in the World Cup' and a danger man for England to worry about, but every time I've seen him play for Juve he's looked terrible. Watching Brazil against New Zealand last night, I'm a little more hopeful if we end up meeting them in the latter stages this time around. They looked vulnerable at the back from set pieces and that's where we're scoring most of our goals from at the moment.
Guest CurryMan Report post Posted June 5, 2006 Ibrahimovic has looked awful because Juventus has looked awfull this season and they have only played long balls up in the air and nothing trough the ground. He hasn´t been good this season but who has really shined this season in Juventus even if they won there league this year. He is the player who can do nothing in 86 minutes of the game just to make a brilliant goal in the 87th minute. Swedish channel 4 has started to broadcast the training with commentating and interviews its awesome for a football geek as myself

deancoles 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 I could see Mexico doing well in the next few cups, they've got a World Youth Champion team and by 2012 Vela and Dos Santos should be in Arsenal and Barcelonas first team easily.

Adam 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 Australia: 1 - 1: Holland Fantastic result, and hopefully a good omen. Especially good result given Australia were down to ten men for the last thirty minutes. I agree, this was Holland's sendoff for their fans, and we did very well. Viduka's a muppet though, that's two penalties he's missed in Australia's two most important games of the last year. He'd better score them when he needs to. Australia were very lucky not to concede a penatly in the first half with that handball decision, which was clearly there. But apart from that mishap, Australia did a fantastic job of containing one of the tournament's top teams.

Guest CurryMan Report post Posted June 7, 2006 World Cup fever is running high here in Sweden everyone talks about the World Cup and everyone tries to plan where to best party and watch the Sweden - Trinidad/Tobago game this saturday. I talked before on the subject Zlatan Ibrahimovic got this video from a friend today, you won´t understand the commentating since its in swedish but I will give you the background and what the commentators says when the goal is struck. They had been bitching about Zlatan the whole game, I remember I was bitching when I was watching the game. Zlatan had been terrible hadn´t made one single right decision and he seemed totally off and didn´t make a attempt to run during the game almost atleast it felt like that. Then this happend in the 91 minute of game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPufL4uYmyI The goal that sent Sweden to the World Cup, the commentaters is saying how sorry that they ever doubted him and complaining about him and I shouted the exact same thing even though just one minute before this goal wanted him off the pitch. deancoles 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Something that hasn't been discussed, when was the last time the favourites won the World Cup? From the tournaments I can remember 02: Argentina and France went out 1st round 98: Brazil lost in the final 94: Think Italy were favourites with Baggio,Maldini and Baresi but still lost 90: Holland were favourites with the Euro 88 win and Gullit,Van Basten and Rijkaard at the best club team in the world. They ended up going out in the 1st knockout match. Guest CurryMan Report post Posted June 8, 2006 I would say that Brazil was favourits at the 02 even though Argentina and France was both strong contenders. EDIT: Well I could say that Brazil are favourites every time they step out on a football field.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 But there was the mess they had of qualifying,a manager Brazil hated for not picking Romario,Ronaldinho was not happy at PSG,a "dodgy" defence,Ronaldo's injuries and their Captain being injured in training a few days before it started. k thx 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 Yeah, Argetina I think were favoured ahead of Brazil. However, I can't remember a team being such overwhelming favourites as Brazil are this year. In other news, Cisse is out of the World Cup after breaking his leg. The slow motion of it is not for the squemish.
k thx 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 NB, Brazil this year may be similar in hype to Puskas' Hungary and Cruyff's Holland, neither of who won the tournament.
deancoles 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 Funny thing about Holland is that Cruyff was actually one of the reasons they didn't win it, he hated their best GK and because of his "influence" they picked one who was at fault for both goals in the final. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2006 Poor Cisse, no one deserves to injuries so horrific. I fancy Paueta for the Golden Boot, and Ukraine for the quarters at least as the surprise package. And Costa Rica will get a draw against Germany.
