King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 My bet is they'll drag it out because of the draw, but just between USA and Canada.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 Maybe fued Lethal with Williams. Give him the push.
Garth 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 The World X Cup is continuing this week on Impact. They're having a tie break match, Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams. The winner of the match wins the World X Cup for their country. Should be a fun match, Williams and Sabin always deliver the goods against one another. luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 Thats very true, just need to give it the apporpiate allocated time. This will be a PPV quality match if they do.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 15, 2006 What was the point of even involving Japan and Mexico if it was just going to have this outcome?
Garth 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 As an attempt to make the X-Division look like an important thing globally, I would guess.
Maztinho 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 What was the point of even involving Japan and Mexico if it was just going to have this outcome? To get Goto on my TV? Nah, it's for the globalization thing. Doesn't the winning team get some huge ass trophy? And "prize money" has to dealt out as well. They need to get Danshoku Dino for the next X-Cup. Imagine having the Professor trying to call the Danshoku Driver? Awesome.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 They need to get Team UK in for the next World X Cup. They really missed the boat on that one.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 TNA really needs to speed up their DVD turn around time. I don't have PPV access, but I'd love to see this show just to see Jarrett eating the Muscle Buster (I'd like to see LockDown too, for that matter). But since they are just now releasing Final Resolution, its going to be awhile before I can...
Garth 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 I agree that they should definatly bring in a UK team. However, it would have been pointless this go around for two reasons. Firstly, they hardly did anything with the teams this year, adding one more to the mix would have just complicated matters. Secondly, they couldn't get Doug Williams or Nigel McGuninness, I feel those two are pretty essential to a UK squad.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 15, 2006 The previous X Cups all seemed to be ran better, which is a shame since this was the first on a national stage. Maybe Team UK falling through and Team Japan and Mexico not being as good(name value) as originally rumored, caused them to change plans and downsize the event. razazteca 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 Why was'nt the X Cup a one day tourny on a dedicated PPV like say Destination X? Team Japan did a great job of introducing new talent but I was disappointed in not seeing Nosawa come back. Team AAA could of selected a better team, hell I could of accepted Cibernetico, Zorro, Shocker, Puma. As for Team Canada well Scotty D'More should change his name to D'Less cause his habit of being a camera whore isn't helping the people he is suppose to put over. Team USA should of been Team ROH too bad Aries and Strong pissed off management.
Garth 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 I would have wholeheartedly approved of them dropping Dutt & Lethal in favour of Aries & Strong. No doubt. I really think it's too bad that there were so many people that TNA wanted for this but couldn't get. I feel it maybe forced their hand in not giving the X Cup as much exposure as it ideally should have gotten.
Maztinho 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2006 ^ Most likely. If they had the rosters they wanted the X-cup would have ran longer, no doubt. Still team Japan with Goto, Minoru, Black Tiger and Lyger was kick ass. They need to cement down who is going to be at the next X-cup early, so if changes need to be made they can book accordingly. Then they can go back and release a X-cup DVD with all the matches. It would really seperate their product, I think.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 15, 2006 I liked what I saw from Team Japan, and I didn't even see Lyger. They seemed like they could've been a good heelish faction, If the X Cup was allowed to play out more.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2006 I think they should have the X cup for 2 months. At least have more matches. Like actually have one team face every team in singles and tag. You could have each week build up a certain team with vignettes and footage of why they deserve to be in the cup.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2006 Is it wrong that a part of me wants to see this Kevin Nash bullshit lead to him pinning Joe clean for the X title and ending his streak? Just to see the backlash?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2006 Goto, Minoru, Black Tiger, Puma are the guys that stand out as new people that I want to see more of. Magmo or whatever his name is must of been like the 3rd or 4th option for Team Mexico...makes me wonder who they really wanted but could not show up.
Maztinho 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2006 I marked out hard for Goto's Go To Heaven Wrist-Clutch Angle Slam, I just love that move. Yeah more Minoru, Goto, and Black Tiger. Spreading this thing out would have gotten more people into it, and made the tie at the end more memorable, the pay-off tie breaker have more emotion behind it. Hopefully they can work solid rosters out for next year and have more elaborate booking.

Their first choice of Team Mexico would have been unreal good... basically CMLL's main eventers.
